I get several letters a month, by folks wanting to buy my minerals. I'm sure they'd not even bother if they knew I was "in the business". Usually the offers would need at least three zeros on the end for me to even begin to consider it.

I don't see, where it's "bottom feeding", or "preying on the desparate", at all.

They want some land and apparently have the money to buy it quickly. Some owners may be happy someone is interested. Some may be desparate.

They are just solicitating for property and it a smart and easy way to find some. I'm thinking about doing this for a run-down property nearby, that was purchased by an out of town company, at a tax sale. It has had tree limbs fallen on the roof for two years.

Even the American Pickers, say something like "you gotta ask".

Either call them back (you might make a killing) or pitch the letter in the trash.
