Boy this is hard. How about single payer national health insurance? Oh thats right we dont have that, though if we did, I would benefit....

How about giving up govt ok to inject noxious chemicals into the water table in order for gas exploration companies to benefit? Oh thats right, contamination of my drinking water isnt a benefit and since I dont own stock in the gas companies, guess thats not a benefit at all.

How about giving up the govt benefit of using eminent domain to transfer property from poor private land owner to rich private developer in order to increase local local tax revenue. Darn again, since I'm not rich developer, I dont benefit....

If I had my way my son would have never been put on SSI or medicaid, but his dad made that decision when he moved in with him. All other government benefits that I receve are employer based as I work for a not for profit that receives some governmental funding.

Why are the liberal trying to give anything up. Just go by the constitution and everything will be alright. SS should be phased out and any government agency that has anything to do with the people should be stopped. The federal government should only deal with the states like it was in the beginning.

How about land mines, particularly the types which are attractive to children.

And it is OK with me if the potheads get out of prison and run free, too.

I benefit from the deduction for IRA contributions - I'd be willing to give up that deduction.

I enjoy getting the Social Security estimate of benefits in the mail each year, but would be willing to just look at this online and save the postage and printing costs.

I wouldn't mind losing home mail delivery and picking up my mail at a post office instead.

For starters I would give up the 2% tax break on SS tax. And I would be very happy to give up all the redundant and overlapping programs within the federal government. And I would give up excess military bases around the world as well as at home. I would sacrifice entire departments whose existence is hard to justify, such as HUD and Dept of Education. I also want to give up pennies round everything to the nearest nickel, since they cost more to make than 1 cent. I am also very happy to give up some of the excessive perks that my elected representatives receive, I hate to see them spoiled. I would be glad to donate more to the local charities and food banks if the guidelines for food stamps were tightened up.

I'd give up the Dept of Education, since I homeschool anyway. I don't use foodstamps, nor public housing. I don't get disability, even though my doctor has told me I should apply for it. I figure others need it worse than I do, so I'll let them keep my portion.

Guess this is impossible. One has to be wealthy to benefit from some of biggest govt giveaways.
Yeah, all this too.

Remember, folks, the idea here is to state something that you personally benefit from that you would be willing to give up. It's easy to say, "I'd give up foreign aid," if you don't benefit from it.

If the government could save $3 million by closing a bridge instead of repairing it, would you say, "Save the cash," even if it made your daily commute 10 miles longer? What kind of a hit are you willing to take to your own pocketbook?

There is very little from the Federal Govt that I benefit from.

Infrastructure is one of the FEW things they DO need to spend money on.

BO could have saved $4 million by not taking his Hawaiian vacation, so $3 millioin for a bridge is a good deal

Fine. I would give up the "protection" afforded by the TSA, BATF, DEA, local police, USFWS, USDA, EPA, and Border control on the Canadian border.

The money I pay for roads come directly out of state and federal fuel taxes that willingly pay and do not wish to "give up".

If the bridge were closed I would expect a commensurate drop in my fuel taxes.

Boy has this thread gone away from the OP wanted.
This is what you Personally would give up, something YOU personally get and then give up.
Now I agree with this poster~!
I am getting everything I can legally sign up for and use. If it gets the country to a faster way to the bottom, so be it.
But by golly I am getting my teeth fixed on the State of WI.'s bill not my own. Si I am NOT giving a thing up that I personally am getting from the government. Why should I?
Illegals in this country get all sorts of free stuff.
Well it is about time the "rest of us" also are able to get a few things, those that have worked for years, now can't because of some disability.
Well by golly now it is MY TURN to take this country to the bottom at a fast rate, so then it cash get turned around for the better.

But in the mean time i am going to benefit, not just those that come into this country illegally.
