Oh, but that's what liberals do best. Del Gue's and Naturelover's posts are evidence of this attitude. Kill 'em all, all the way to the top, and kill the one at the top too, IF they're conservative. And public death threats are never a good idea...

Of course except when it impacts the leaders they worship. If it's a lib at the top, you can't touch them! Like any number of current new items. Hang everyone else out to dry, throw everyone else under the bus, roll out the guillotine for the scape goats, but don't *dare* to touch the Sacred One or his Anointed Followers....

ETA Tiempo, you started this thread, perhaps you would care to share your opinion of the issue? I don't believe you have stated what you think.

I'm thinking some of you never even heard of the guy before this topic got posted so you never knew how much influence and control he has over America, Britain and Australia.

If you're an American, especially if you're a conservative, meet your tyrant puppet master who has been pulling all of your strings for decades:

Gee I wonder if that is the same as Soros pulling the liberal communist strings of the democrats and progressive..

Well imagine that! Each side has their money men... Yet the liberals won't acknowledge theirs... They would rather hide behind groups like Acorn etc...

So what else is new in politics? The liberals claim that conservatives are being controlled by this "tyrant puppet master", yet deny that they aren't being controlled by Sorros and the liberal media...

Imagine that!

A lot of us have known who Rupert Murdoch is for a long time. How is his promoting his conservative views through his media outlets any different than all the other media outlets promoting their librel views? Why is it a problem when a conservative promotes their views through their media outlets but the same people who rail against Murdoch for promoting his views never complain about the librel media outlets that do the same thing?

I read the article you linked to. It is a very biased piece that distorts facts to try to put Mr. Murdoch in the worst possible light. It surely doesn't prove Mr. Murdoch to be a "tyrant puppet master" who has been pulling all of our strings for decades.

Is Rupert Murdoch a nice guy? Probably not. How many people become as wealthy and powerful as he is by being nice? Is George Soros a nice guy? Probably not. He's used his money and power to promote liberal ideals for decades yet most of the people who rail against Rupert Murdoch never say a bad word about George Soros.

I think, if proven to be true, and so far from reading around there's strong reason to believe that it is, that heads should roll...the behavior is despicable (especially in the case of the murdered girl and the families of the 7/7 victims.

It's yet to unfold who knew what and who did exactly what, but it will be interesting to see what happens.

You'd be mistaken

And we have this principle here called "innocent until PROVEN guilty".

So far it's a bunch of allegations in the media

In my opinion none of them, conservatives and liberals alike, should be promoting their own agendas through the media empires that they control in order to manipulate the minds of media consumers.

As far as general news outlets go, I agree with you. But, since they all do it, it's unfair to single out Murdoch (or anyone else) for doing what all the others also do.

Seriously? Do you not understand that media has always done that?

Or are you going to try and claim the CBC is totally unbiased. I know your not that naive so why the snarky posts? This is a big deal and I dont know of too many people in this country that dont know who Rupert Murdock or Roger Ailes are. Perhaps you are one of the ones who dont understand that the NYT, Wallstreet Journal, Fox News, Fox Studios, Fox Entertainment, Skye News and News of the World are separate corporations and entities within his holdings. If Fox News or the NYT was involved then let the chips fall where they may but this seems to be a particular News of the World undertaking and if I were a British subject (as you are) I would be highly PO'd.

Certainly I understand media everywhere has always done that. They do it because that's what the tittilation-hungry public wants from the media.

I think it's wrong. Media everywhere should only be reporting the news as facts, not manipulating the news and manipulating events in the lives of other people in order to create more tittilating and scandalous news for the public.

Oh, and I am not a British subject, I am a sovereign citizen of my own sovereign state country. There is no longer any such thing as a British subject anywhere in any country, not even in Britain.

Umm okay, I agree with you that this whole thing was wrong and that they shouldnt be doing what is alleged but everyone in the media is going to report things from their own slant no matter how hard they try to be fair and balanced (you love that term I know). Its human nature and I think most people understand that...i.e., even simple local news gets reported in the slant the local organization sees it.

As for your being a British subject...Is not the Queen of England also the Queen of Canada (or Reine du Canada as my separatist wife would say)? I always thought Canada was a Constitutional Monarchy with the Queen of England (and also by title the Queen of Canada) as the legal and de facto monarch and sovereign...Guess I am wrong so my apologies. It does get confusing though with her picture on your money and stamps and all...

And Nature Lover..I hope you know I'm pulling your leg here.

These days it's hard to tell when anyone is pulling someone elses leg.

Off topic a bit, but not really. I know it gets confusing for people. Canada is a constitutional monarchy, yes. Canada chose Elizabeth the 2nd as the Queen of Canada. As the Queen of Canada she is not the Queen of England, she is only the Queen of Canada. She alone is the people's choice of Monarch for Canada. We did not inherit her, and we don't inherit her royal line. We may choose her line if we wish.

If the people chose to do so they could choose a different person from either Canada or some other country as their monarch, and perhaps some day Canada will do that, maybe we'll choose somebody from Canada, but I think it's unlikely. But right now the people's choice for Monarch is Elizabeth the 2nd, who is also the Queen of 16 other independent sovereign state countries who also chose to retain her as their monarch. In all likelihood the future reigning monarchs of Britain will continue to inherit the monarchy in most of the other monarchical countries but that remains to be seen whether or not it's in their best interests. When Elizabeth dies some countries might end up choosing some other people from other places as monarchs for their countries.

That is one of the reasons why there are no longer any subjects to the British Crown and no citizens of any commonwealth nations are subjects to their own respective Crown monarchies. Being a subject to any Crown in the commonwealth nations was abolished 60 years ago. We are all sovereign citizens of our nations, just like all Americans are sovereign citizens of America.

I appreciate the information. I always knew there was a connection but wasn't sure just how it worked.

Me too Murray, I tease NL a lot because my wife is from Canada but NL has a much better understanding of these things than my wife and I usually learn something (plus NL is a good sport). I am thinking the reaction most of Canada (and the US) had for Wills and Kate would make Wills a shoe in for the next monarch of Canada...but Charles not so much.

But back to the OP, it looks like Congress is now calling for an investigation of News Corp here in the states...this could get even uglier.

You're right, it looks like it could get uglier. From today's New York Times:

http://mediadecoder.blogs.nytimes.co...s-corporation/

Quote:
Congressmen Call for U.S. Investigation of News Corporation

Two members of Congress are calling for government inquiries in the United States into the conduct of Rupert Murdoch’s News Corporation, which is enmeshed in a deepening hacking scandal in Britain.

Senator Frank R. Lautenberg said in a letter Wednesday that the News Corporation may have violated the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act in the United States.

....... Because News Corporation is based in the United States, even employees in other countries may be bound by the act, which forbids payments to foreign officials.

...... Senator John D. Rockefeller said in a statement. “This raises serious questions about whether the company has broken U.S. law, and I encourage the appropriate agencies to investigate to ensure that Americans have not had their privacy violated.”

Mr. Rockefeller concluded, “I am concerned that the admitted phone hacking in London by the News Corp. may have extended to 9/11 victims or other Americans. If they did, the consequences will be severe.”

In the letter to the heads of the Justice Department and the Securities and Exchange Commission, Mr. Lautenberg said the media reports have raised “serious questions about the legality of the conduct of News Corporation and its subsidiaries,” and added, “further investigation may reveal that current reports only scratch the surface of the problem at News Corporation.”

Right, and no one will be either... as long as the queen is ok with things this way.

Democrats/the lamestream want to"investigate" a guy who just happens to own a news network they hate....but don't want to investigate this regime selling guns to drug/criminal cartels....makes one wonder with a major election in US coming up why what happened in UK tabloid is important to them.....

I'm more concerned right now with the debt ceiling, unemployment, the economy, and Fast and Furious. If/when this truly ends up being a scandal, I guess I'll worry about it then.
