If the UK police didn't put the homeowner in custody and make everything as difficult as possible, other homeowners would soon begin to defend their castles and there would be oodles of wounded or dead invading burglars on the street corners, so in order to keep order, homeonwers must be micromanaged.

Watch out Big Rockpile, once again your comprehension slip is showing.

They are talking about the UNITED KINGDOM, not any other country. You know, that little group of islands with all the magic castles and stone monoliths, King Arthur and the Knights of the round table, fairies, little blue Scotsmen, kings and queens - that place over on the other side of the Atlantic ocean - (you do at least know what the Atlantic ocean is, I hope.)

And the servers grunt at you a lot and grin at you fiercely.

Interesting comments from the father of the dead burglar...

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/ukne...fend-home.html

Quote:
Mr Bennell's father confirmed that as well as being on bail for a burglary in Staffordshire earlier this month, Bennell had served at least one prison term for a litany of previous crimes.

Garry Bennell said his son’s criminal lifestyle had caused such a rift between him and his wife, Diane, 56, a librarian, that they had broken off contact with him some years ago.

He said: “I know that things can get out of hand, but you're entitled to protect your property.”

Asked what he would do if an intruder broke into his own home, he replied: "I would hope to have the guts to protect my property, though obviously I wouldn’t want to kill anybody”.

He said his wife was devastated by Bennell’s death.

He added: “At the end of the day it's her son. Whatever happened in the past between us he was still our child."
