I am a LE officer in Canada (A peace officer is a law enforcement officer). I have been recorded numerous times whilst doing my job, and I can tell you, it does make you act differently. You try not to swear as much, you talk a little nicer, and you feel kind of like a celebrity! Everyone I work with is comfortable with being recorded, and there's nothing we could do about it if we weren't, it's legal in Canada, even if we don't know about it.
I strongly believe in a citizen's right to record LE officers. In fact, our boss wants us all to be carrying small camera's and mics on our uniform that we activate when dealing with someone. Video is excellent evidence in court, no matter where it comes from! It is extremely difficult to alter, far more difficult than pictures, which are also difficult. I have never heard of anyone altering video (other than cutting and pasting) which was then presented in a court of law.
Go ahead, record me, film me, make a documentary, make funny captions, do what you like. Put it on Youtube, call me a thug, scream about excessive force if you like, but I follow the law when I work, and you'll never catch me doing otherwise!
Just try to get my left side, that's my best looking : )
