Military traffic
Has anyone else noticed increased Military air Traffic. Had a Fighter fly low yesterday, and during the night helicopters.Woke me a number of times. There is very little air traffic over this house except for military, but this was way more than usual.

I'm within 50 miles of 4 large miltary air bases, so I see lots every day.
I've not noticed any increase above normal |
I'm about 160mi. from Mt. Home air base in ID. Once in a while they will swing down this way in a C130 or Blackhawks.
They set up a re-fueling depot at local airport a few years back. Totally cool to watch them landing choppers in formation. The public was informed and airport was flooded with folks wanting to greet and say thanks. Most were CWOs and fine gentlemen all. They let kids climb inside their birds and answered questions. News reported that a squadron of A-10s were due in. Watching for them. It doesn't bother me when our military does manuvers of any kind around here. They are welcome in my book. Hope others think the same. They need us as much as we need them. |
I am out in the boonies. The amount of air traffic is highly irregular here. It makes me wonder when the next big war will be starting. Now that the election is over it most likely will be soon.
I fear that it is just part of the plan.:coffee: |

Military traffic of all kinds go up and down depending on the training schedule of the units around. I've lived near a SAC air base and Ft Campbell and the traffic in each place would be up and down. Some weeks you wouldn't see/hear much of anything and the next you'd think ever aircraft they had was flying over the house twice a day.

We're about 7 miles from the base in Tobyhanna. Traffic is steady as usual. It's the State police helicopters I've been seeing more frequently...

I think that most of probably involves the pending invasion of Canada. The strategy dictates that it take place sometime before they sober up for the celebration of their Thanksgiving.

Are you sure there isn't some chatter about cat liberation? |

It sounded like a military C130, but again I couldn't see it.. During the week I spotted a lone A10 (he was low and slow) one day and a pair of them a day or 2 before that. I've seen or heard numerous helicopters lately also.. So it has made me wonder what is going on... |
We are also out in the boonies and have a lot of military action going on at odd times off the night here. Way more than ever before.

We know how long it takes a Canadian to sober up. The main goal, now, it to get in there before that entire country freezes up. But, I've said too much, already. |
DH is AF and I haven't heard anything.

Huey's, F16's, Blackhawks, C130's...... 2 F16's today. I have lived here for almost 7 years. The first 5 1/2....maybe only when there was an airshow in town or they were doing a flyover for the Indy 500. In the last 18 months, there has been GREATLY increased traffic. Showed pics to the boys at work of all the stuff flying over. Those boys are recently retired Army. They told me to 'get ready, because 'they are'. (they being the military) |

Had a couple of sonic booms over me last night about 8 pm- went outside and could hear teh jet or jets heading toward the ocean in the distance.

Outside of some C-130's going to Niagara falls nothing unusual. Darn black helcopters hovering around though. Maybe some UFO's. Havent noticed any cattle mutilations. Have seen some pretty ugly women. Might be a government plot. Destroy our desire to breed.

Our airspace is used for helicopter training out of Rucker, lots of trainer Blackhawks...but the real treat is when Little Birds come out to play...those guys are GOOD....sitting on my back porch(ground level)and all of a sudden-pop up over treeline-down on the deck-blasting through my field-I'm looking at red light at eye level......sure hope they miss the cows and big mules.....
|
Nothing unusual here though GoodFellow is a tech training facility (pc, codes and so on)
My hubby used to help make the B1Bs we loved watching them fly over testing the wing retraction and so on. I miss those days but would not move back to Edwards area for anything. Though getting a guided tour of the shuttle building bay was cool on family day. |

I didn't even realize what Y2K was......until about 2005!! |
Haven't noticed any unusual Military traffic......Our skies are filled with Nascar Drivers, this weekend. Lots of Heli's coming and going.
My DH was a Helicopter Mechanic..... He really takes notice when he hears something different in our area. |
One word: IRAN THough it oughtta be Pakistan?

I suspect most all of it is pilot/navigator training. My B-I-L and sister live across the ridge from me. For several evenings, just as it was getting dark, two C-130-type aircraft would fly low over. I haven't seen them so I suspect as soon as they hit the ridge top they turned towards KY Lake, Apparently out of Fort Campbell.
When I was at Warner Robbins AFB in GA they were working on C-130 gunships. I was told for tests they would fly along a highway along one side of the base to Macon and scope out moving vehicles. Essentially dry runs. On the sherrif's helicopters, I would assume they are looking for m-j patches. |
Paranoia much?
