I am thinking that it is a test, to see how much we the people will tolerate.

I would have to say because they were given the 'green' light

by BARRY & COMPANY.......their "ability" derives from the power that was
already on the books so to speak......again, as was said before......just because
a tool has been left behind, is it "necessary" for the next 'thief' to pick them up and
use them??? Especially when said thief made a pledge to have the MOST OPEN
AND TRANSPARENT ADMINISTRATION that had yet graced the halls of the
White House?!!! Seems if he was really so concerned about 'appearances'.....
that such powers would have been repealed and/or stuffed back into the Pandora's
box from whence they sprang from. Now if he really cared, that box would be nailed
shut, secured with chains and padlocks and sunk next to that leaking oil pipe in the gulf.
Since they can't seem to get that thing fixed, it's a pretty safe bet that they
wouldn't be able to retrieve it either.

Homeland Security seizes control over BP oil spill website
DHS
The Department of Homeland Security has seized control over a joint BP oil spill website, previously managed by several US Government agencies and BP and intended to inform the public about the progress made in the cleanup effort.
The joint website was managed by US agencies, including the US Coast Guard, and BP to provide daily information about the oil spill and efforts made by both in conjunction with independent contractors to proceed with the cleanup effort.
Effective immediately, the Department of Homeland Security will now control all content and distribution of information to the American and international public.
Secretary Janet Napolitano, head of the DHS, was not available for comment and her office did not immediately return phone calls.
The announcement, first reported by the Associated Press, was frowned upon by many news agencies and reporters. According to a DHS spokesman, the website will change its address from a dot-com to a dot-gov address but the content will remain the same.
Who can actually post to the new website remains unknown but it is believed that the content is under the sole control of the DHS and no articles will be posted or published without the approval of Secretary Napolitano or one of her directors.
While it does not make sense to invent a conspiracy theory at this juncture, it is questionable why the DHS would get involved in an environmental disaster that has no immediate impact on national security and therefore would not be considered to be placed under their control and jurisdiction.
The next few days may shed more light on this puzzling decision, but one can state as a fact that such seizure can only be executed upon direct instructions from the White House.

riddle me this...
why have you spent the last several weeks complaining that BO won't do anything, then when the feds step in, like they are supposed to, like your buddy gwb set HS up to do, you are still mad and think it's part of this massive conspiracy that exists nowhere except in the conservative mind? just as we have said from day one- he's dammed if he do, and dammed if he don't.
i wish you'd get your news from someplace that doesn't have such an obvious agenda. HS SEIZED the BP website?? really? or were they given the responsibilty to do so, then did?
i promise there are real live news sources easily available on the web that tell the news without all the paranoia and sensationalism. you outta check them out sometime.
eta: i had to go back and mention this. it's so obvious, it's ridiculous.
"The announcement, first reported by the Associated Press, was frowned upon by many news agencies and reporters. According to a DHS spokesman, the website will change its address from a dot-com to a dot-gov address but the content will remain the same.""
omg- it was FROWNED UPON???? ooooo, that's real bad. and just who are those "many news agencies and reportes" hm??? the last line is the real kicker- it will change the addy from dot com to dot. gov. even bigger whoop. and then....
wait for it....
"the content will remain the same." riiiight.... if that's not enough to keep the tight right up all night, i don't know what is.

I don't expect you to grasp the picture of what is happening here. Here's another article today about Big Sis banning certain websites from TSA computers including those with " controversial opinion ". What is controversial opinion and who gets to decide what opinion is controversial? We had a story not long ago about the White House planning to bypass the media and broadcast its own message. We had a story today of the Pentagon banning 4 veteran reporters from GITMO. The House passed a bill last week to give Obama a kill switch to the internet. Do you really think it is a good trend for any administration to decide what news and views the public can get?

The take over could be one of the factors leading up to a mass people evacuation of the coast area...................

1. you didn't answer my questions.
2. i see you didn't bother looking for more realistic news.
3. your last line?? take it up with gwb. even better, ask GB sr about it- he's the one that banned reporters from desert storm and made them stay in a "pool" and be fed only the war news they wanted us to hear.
wake up...
yeah, i'm really worried about bo taking over the internet. got lots of stock in the tin foil factory too.
nevermind.

Nobody has ever explained to me how they had the ability to take over elevator inspections in Indiana either.
Be honest. Just for once.
You don't care that Obama is doing this. You just want to take the opportunity to point out how bad Bush was.

I'm not thrilled about how Obama has handled the spill.
I voted for Bush twice because the Democratic options were just too darned goofy.
I think that Bush is an OK guy. He just didn't make a very good leader, being led astray by his inner circle.
Obama is teetering near that same trap.

Oggie, that's where you are wrong. Obama IS the trap. He is a racist egomaniac and there is no doubt about it. His agenda will destroy this country if it hasn't already and he knows it. All you have to do is sit back and think about all the things he has done in aggregate.

It isn't his power but rather his ideals and his agenda. Look at the list of Marxists, socialists, and such he has surrounded himself with. Just today he appointed a Dr. as healthcare Csar using a recess appointment. The Dr. is a big fan of healthcare rationing. When Obama does things like that, it means something and shows where we are headed. The list is long.
