Chickenista, I am with you on the Mint (I have 5 different kinds), except I have been having this little debate in my mind about it. I have a perfect spot to let the Mint go nuts! It isn't in the Orchard, or near my garden area, and there is a gravel driveway in front of the area... On one side is a carport, on the other two remaining sides are little hills rising up. The back side is pretty steep. I do have Jerusalem Artichokes, because I actually grew up on them...no problem eating them. This crate of them has sat there, just waiting to be planted. I got to thinking there was a great spot for them, too. Where they won't be anywhere near my garden, but can happily go nuts. This thread has been as it got me considering things a bit differently... I've also concluded, that trying to dig up a few hundred Dandelions isn't worth my time, when more will just replace them (from the neighbors). Makes more sense to just mow 'em down, occasionally, and use them to feed my bunnies with :) On children, Elsbet? My 19 year old son, Robert, was with me last year picking out seeds. I asked him what he thought I should plant- he looked at all the flowers and grabbed a package of Blue Moonbeam Morning Glory (Annual). I did expect seeds, but none. Now, I am planting more, so will post what happens this year!

Rabbits will eat your bitter lettuce--- I had the same issue and fed the bitter stuff to the happy rabbits!

Ditto! Also garden huckleberries! :help: |
I finally thought of one. Upland Cress. About 26 years ago.
I didn't know anything (still don't, LOL) and I thought it was like watercress. It really took over and we did not like the flavor of it. Maybe I should plant it again. We might like it now that most of our taste buds have died off over the years, at least it was easy to grow! |
Spinner I have plenty of the amaranth seeds send me a SASE

Cilantro because I found out the last time I planted it that I am deathly allergic to it now. Like in epi pen and all.
Eggplants, I never get more than one per plant which does not compensate for the space they take up. |
Cannas,, They have gone nuts and I can't keep pulling them out. I even pull them out and throw them back in the woods and they grow back there now.:grump:

If you have rabbits, they enjoy radishes with tops. hollym |
Yellow Pear tomatoes. I've tried them twice now. They are cute, if you can get to them before they crack, but they just didn't taste that great.

Epazote! Blah! Irony of ironies- it turned out I had it all over my horse field! It has one good point- It's a vermifuge. The goats do enjoy it. There's another plus for it.
I think the plant in the mesclun that tastes skunky is the arugala. My daughter loves it. Try as I may, I can't stand it. |
