Just a little eye candy!

you are naughty....

DamnearaFarm 06/18/11 10:50 AM

I bet that baby will have some hellacious knee action!

NorCalChicks 06/18/11 05:43 PM

Oh man! I would soooo love to have that foal! Just love Gypsy Vanners!

DamnearaFarm 06/18/11 08:21 PM

You have them?!?!? Do you sell them?!?!?! Will you take saddles in trade, LOL! BF wants a gorgeous, magnificent feather-footed horse and has been eyeballing draft-crosses....but a spotted magnificent feathery creature might do the trick! Tell us more, hmmmmm???

DamnearaFarm 06/19/11 11:40 AM

Lol, I don't sell them, I just happen to have one :)

I do know several breeders (some who are actually reasonably priced ;) )

How big is your BF? Gypsies typically don't break 15 hands, so if he's a tall guy who might have issues with riding a round pony, he may want to look at a drum horse or the crosses he's eyeing.

I do know of this place, never done any business with them, though:

The site is a PITA to navigate, but they do give a lot of information.

My absolute FAVORITE stallion:

Sorry couldn't resist a brag. Here is my colt. He was a year old on april 30 and won his first blue ribbon the week after.

Oh man! Just color me several shades of green! What an absolutely gorgeous boy - you are a lucky lady Chris!!:cowboy:

How old is he? He's so cute and fuzzy in the one pic, and he sure does clean up nice! Now we've shown our IG's which have a lot of white on them. Always had to lightly chalk some areas - I do not want to offend - but does it work the same way on a horse? It's so hard to get gleaming white and he looks like he was painted at the show he's so perfect....pardon me, I'm trying not to drool!

tinknal 06/19/11 12:36 PM

My friend is training a GV/Clyde cross right now. Flashy girl.

NorCalChicks 06/19/11 12:37 PM

Oops - Donna needs to read more closely! I see he's a little over a year.
I think I will have to move to a more suitable location before I can even consider one - I'd feel awful having such a beautiful creature in the drab and dismal desert! LOL!

UGH! In my Vanner euphoria, I totally missed that the pics were from 2 different posters! Guess I'll just be double envious!

chris30523 06/19/11 01:57 PM

He does clean up nice. We have Ga. red mud here so it is hard to keep that feather white. Chalk is not forbidden at shows but we didn't use any. They are great horses. One little girl at the show said "he looks like a fairy tale". My haflingers are harder to keep clean than he is.

GrannyCarol 06/19/11 02:19 PM

I think bragging is not only allowed here, it's pretty well expected! He's gorgeous.

As for keeping a Gypsy Vanner in the desert, won't that make keeping it's feathers out of the mud a breeze? Our sand would fall right out here... :)

Mud?? I live in the desert in central Arizona and can't remember the last time it rained.

Exactly! A Gypsy Vanner ought to do well in the desert. :) One of the earlier posts said she didn't think they'd fit in her desert.

Red clay at the house where that last photo was taken too. I just told everyone I had the world's first orange and black gypsy :)

Congrats on the win, Chris.

DamnearaFarm 06/19/11 05:57 PM

We had our gypsy with us when we lived in New Mexico for almost a year. He did just fine with the sand and such. Every horse with white near it's muzzle did sunburn though.

chris30523 06/19/11 08:12 PM

I keep mine up during the day and turn him out at night. He has a white nose and it keeps his color from bleaching out. He likes standing under the fan though cause it keeps the flys off. I think the desert would be a perfect place to keep a gypsy

beccachow 06/19/11 09:58 PM

I am so very glad you all live so far away from me.

Oh great - now I have to start playing the lottery! :D

chris30523 06/20/11 07:38 AM

Give my little fella a couple of years and a few more shows Donna and he will be making some beautiful babies. ;) For those of you too far away I have family and friends who do cross country shipping at reasonable rates. LOL

saanengirl 06/20/11 12:01 PM

Chris, where in GA do you live? I live about 30 miles SW of Macon.

chris30523 06/20/11 12:24 PM

In the far NE corner.Just follow the banjo music.;)

bluebird2o2 06/23/11 12:17 PM

Its a very good thing its too far away because shes as cute as a bug.I want a driving pony.

KansasFarmgirl 06/23/11 02:02 PM

I love the gypsies too! I was hoping to get one from this gal. She also has a beautiful stallion with great bloodlines. http://thornhillgypsies.com/ThornHill/stallions.htm

SFM in KY 06/23/11 04:15 PM

I'd be in real trouble with driving ponies if I had a place to drive! Have always wanted to drive ... did a bit of it in Spain, some in MT (my foundation Connemara stallion was trained to drive before he went under saddle). Unfortunately here in KY all of our acreage is on a sidehill except for where the house/lower barn/corrals are and there are no accessible roads/tracks that are safe for a cart/buggy.

Otherwise, I'd be in real trouble with the Hackney Ponies!

Live a few miles from where they filmed Deliverance. Also a few miles from where the "Foxfire books" were written.

Yep hope to have some babies in a few years. He's only one yo. now and we probably won't breed him till hes three. If he grows out and shows well over the next 2 years. Looking for a couple of mares but haven't found the right ones yet.
