Oma many prayers, I have a friend who has that in her eyes....

Well I won't be taking over the world after all. Bad attack last night, very much a couch day for me to recover.......have to say though, my Christmas present came yesterday, I had told hubby, I need a big fluffy dog bed.

This way I can just grab it from the room that's right across from the bathroom, and pull. I have to lay down on the br floor a lot during these attacks, just can't hold myself up anymore on the toilet at a certain point, so I'm on the floor, then when it's "time" to be over the potty, I pull myself up.

So, it came, and when the pain hit, I grabbed it right away. Oh so nice, 8" tall, and 3' wide by 4' long, just big enough for me as I'm in the fetal position anyway. Warm plush "lamb" wool fake stuff, the cover comes off for washing. It was a very comforting thing. Normally I have to try to get all the way out to the living room, grab seven quilts, get back, lay them out on the floor. Sometimes I can't even make it out so this is so helpful! Merry Christmas to me!

Is your new place bigger Michelle? Or, is there yard room?

We actually got rain yesterday, real rain for almost 5 minutes!

A lady brought us a huge box of pomegranates! We got none this year from our San Diego trip as Pop had trimmed the bushes way back. So this makes up for it! Of course now we have to get to those seeds. Lots of work but pom jelly is sooooo goood.

Well, I'm working on computer stuff and resting today. Wasn't going to town til Friday anyway this week so no biggie.

Bill and I had dentist appointments this morning. Regular cleaning. Then he was off to work and I stopped at the thrift store on the way home. Found a few small things but my bargain, for me, was a foldable 3 shelf plant stand for $3. It will go outside in the spring. Finished my Christmas/birthday shopping yesterday after my trip to the city for my blood draw. Finished sewing 4 more gifts also. Just need to sew the binding down on 2 little quilts and sew a quilted bag and I'm done.

I swear, if my voice wasn't hoarse, I would fill fine! I also got to cough every-once-in- awhile. Hot coffee and soups help the most. This is my last night to work. In the morning, the wife and I are taking our dog BUBBA to the LSU Vet clinic. He is in the early stages of CUSHINGS disease. The wife says she can take him, but driving in Baton Rouge traffic, handling the dog, well I am going, unless I cannot hold my eyes open. I return to work Friday morning overtime and have to work my three day weekend, so no real off days for me. I will report on BUBBA when I get back to work.

Thank you to all who are praying for our daughter .It's very much appreciated.
Had a bad night,I hate it when I can't go to sleep til 2 or 3 in the morning. But got up early and made 2 kinds of Christmas cookies, one Gf and one regular.Grandson decorated their batch.Went to Goodwill ( senior day)and hit the jackpot.Lots of brand new things still in the boxes that can be used as gifts,I think it's donated from the Hallmark store. Also got a new ,beautiful quilted table runner in Fall colors .Beautifully done ,most likely given as a gift and the person didn't like it.
Once all the grands got home from school they decorated the annual Ginger bread house.I always buy a kit,so it can just be put together and decorated.Wasn't half as messy as other years I am soooo in the Christmas mood. This time last year daughter and I were in Germany and France,so have to keep busy not to think about what all we are missing, like family ,food ,shopping and the whole Christmas atmosphere.

Homesteader, hope you feel better soon. World domination awaits you!
Susan, I'd never heard of Egoscue before - had to go look it up. There are many vids posted, and I'll be watching them when I get of here. Thanks!

Today was spent working on the house again - more Christmas decorations put up, more buckets and other things taken to the shipping container for storage. I have most of the holiday valances up, stockings are hung, along with the Christmas quilt. Pretty much just need to finish decorating the tree and put the lights in the windows and I'll be finished.

We lost one of the chicks - it was weaker when we brought it in, but had appeared to bounce back, then today, it just slowly got weaker and weaker until I finally just put it out of its misery instead of letting it linger. It couldn't even swallow sugar water from a dropper, so it wasn't going to make it. The other 2 seem to be fine - but I just don't know. It seems like we've had so many chicks hatched this year, and yet not that many have grown to maturity. Some were weather or drowning related, but in some cases, I just don't know.

I've been working on my knitting, but it's terribly slow going. I'm ready to switch gears to crocheting again! I have 4 more grands to make caps and scarves for, so I need to keep busy on that. However, I've made myself a goal this month of mastering a simple garter stitch, and I intend to do it!

So yesterday did go better. Attitude has everything to do with it, but being conscious of what I eat really seems to help. Porky the cat was ready to sleep in this AM, so of course I get a major charley-horse in my calf at 620AM. I suspect different shoes with a little more heel height, and some tension driving in an ice and rain mix, but am taking a vitamin, a calcium and more water today anyway. Random stuff: the for-sale sign is down across the street, and the nice couple, who are the owner's relatives and rented there, moved out, but I have no idea if the house sold or is just off-market. Last night someone drove his car diagonally off the driveway, went neatly between the walk and the huge pine tree, and stopped before hitting the front porch. I heard a noise, saw him with a flashlight looking at the vehicle, and then inside he went. Curious, and a word to the wise to watch out if that's how he drives. Good violin lessons with interesting eighth graders yesterday, a boy and a girl. Eighth grade is about the worst, honestly. Every time I see the boy, I swear he's a half-inch taller. With all that growth going on, I don't know how he even thinks straight, if he does. Of course, just like his clothes feel different every time he puts them on, so must his violin feel to him week to week. The girl is just quirky and clearly brilliant if currently unfocused, but luckily I do quirky very well. Off to lunch with retirees today, and then on to do seat auditions for violinists in the state honors orchestra at teachers' convention.

Prayers for everyone ailing and going through medical procedures. I know it's stressful.

Work has been busy this week and I've stayed up late talking with DH. Things are finally getting better at their stores, after their other partner left them in such a mess financially, with the store he was supposed to be running.
I'm glad he's gone and DH is getting everything worked out, finally.

DD had planned to go to school here at the University next semester, but I think she's decided against it for now. She finished her associates last year and I told her to do whatever is best for her and the kids and stop worrying. Sometimes you need a break from school for awhile.

I'm headed to an Award ceremony this afternoon, with another friend. Our Board Chairman at Jacobson House is among several people receiving awards in the Arts from the Governor. I've never attended one of these, so it should be interesting.
I decided to dress up in one of my nice long dresses today, so all the guys were wondering what was up. LOL!
I rarely wear this dress, maybe once every few years and it's a bit of a nuisance trying to make sure I don't catch it on something. Oh well! I get to leave early and have a bit of grown up fun this evening.

Have a wonderful day, everyone!!

I got home this morning and could not hold my eyes open. I just got up at about 1 PM. Had coffee and called the wife. They are still testing BUBBA. If the test they do today does not show the results they want, then tomorrow they will do an eight hour test on him. He has not had anything to eat since midnight. The wife has food with her, so when they head home, he will get to eat. He was laying in the wife's lap when I called. I am going to have to find a pic of BUBBA to post.

USSLESS, Sounds like you know a lot about MUSIC!!!

OUVICKIE, I did not see no pic of you modeling that dress!!!
Jan in CO and OUVickie like this.

Off to town with me today. Still cloudy, we even had a bit of rain the last 2 days! Not really inspired to go but have to no matter what.

Love the dog Travis, I hope he is feeling better today. Can't wait to see pictures of the changing table.

Stay warm everyone!

We got in Tuesday night, spent Wednesday sleeping and waiting for the mail. We got no mail so Thursday AM Grandfatherbear went to the city PO while I went to the local supermercadio/bodega. City PO had lost our mail hold with request to resume Tuesday, and were about to send back all our 1st class mail to sender!! Fortunately they gave it to GFB.
My task was to buy cat food at Walmart but I stopped at El Presidente, as above. Spent $42 on meat and bulk dried beans- split peas, black beans. The small packages of split peas are $1.69 a lb! I bought bulk at $0.79 a lb - and the black beans were BOGO, I figure I have 17 -2 person meals worth of meat, at the least. Figured out that ran about @$2.30 per meal or $1.15 per adult. Made pork stir fry last night and was able to save back enough pork from it to throw into the dried black beans I am cooking for todays dinner, with rice, and the sugar snap peas and slivered carrots to throw on top of the rice. Have enough stirfry left over for 1 full meal. Am so grateful that GFB is rethinking his opposition to soups and stews.
When the drizzle lets up Im going out to harvest broccoli and plant celtuce. Don't want to weed until things are drier.
The ferals were delighted to see us but unfortunately the black cat is still hanging around. I felt bad about chasing him away till he sneaked back into the yard and attacked our Calico feral.
There is a supertyphoon heading toward the Phillipinnes. Prayers are surely appreciated.

GMB - Prayers for you. I saw a pic of that typhoon - looks huge!

Homesteader - I hope you're feeling better. I can't imagine having pain like that all the time.

Travis - Prayers for Bubba - he's so cute!!

The awards ceremony was great. Several people and non-profits received Governor's awards. It was in the OK Capitol rotunda, which is beautiful. Lots of marble, Native artwork and murals.
A friend took a pic of myself, our Board Chairman and our Ex. Director for the JH at the Awards Ceremony, but he sent it to my tracphone and I can't seem to get it forwarded to my email. Oh well! I'll share if I can ever get it saved on my computer.
Instead of going to the after-party, which was several miles north of the Capitol, I decided to go on home. We didn't get out until after 6 pm and it was dark and extremely foggy. Since I had over an hour's drive home, I just decided to be safe and head on home.

I went to Atwoods at lunch to get horse feed and then over to get my grandson some fleece sleep pants for Christmas. He loves camouflage! I found him a pair of camo sleep pants and even a pair of camo print glove/mittens at Big Lots. They're having a huge sale right now and I got both for $18. Weecha!

I'm off to p/u the youngest DGD after work. Tomorrow is our ride on the Polar Express train from Bristow to Tulsa, to see Santa. Then Sunday DH and I will be going to see the Trans-Siberian Orchestra in OKC.

Have a wonderful evening, All, and a great weekend if I don't get back online before the weekend is over!

And of course, I'm back to overnights cuz our main fryer no call no showed last night, so we had to scramble. I have tonight off and work sat night, then I'm off sun night and work monday. I'm off tues night and work thru the week until sat night when I'm off.

Hope Bubba is better, Travis, and that everyone here is doing well. I am just back from a longish day at the state music teachers' convention. These are tough days for music and art programs. So much of school time and money is spent on "Common Core" or its' equivalent, and there is so much angst and tension. I have been retired some years from public school teaching, and as challenging as it was, I can't help but feel that I worked during the "golden years". I seem to do a lot of things off-schedule compared to others. Few of my colleagues continue to teach or even tutor. I have a studio of 23 private students, mostly ages 13-18, and spend time every week practicing, choosing music and thinking about their lesson programs. Most of my career, I taught ages 5-12. At the convention, I went to a fun workshop on free online sources for all sorts of teaching support; a refresher class for contest adjudicators; had a lovely (free!) lunch; toured a score of business booths. Now to relax

Travis, how's Bubba - what a cutie!
Vickie, sounds like a good time was had by all! If you can figure out how to post the pic, I'd love to see it.
GMB, glad you are home, and I bet your ferals were glad to see you, especially after you ran off the black cat for them.
Use Less, my sister was a public school teacher, then taught privately for a number of years. Between that, and homeschooling some of my kids, I have a lot of respect for teachers - it's a difficult job.
Michelle, sorry to hear you are back on nights.

I've been busily crocheting away the last few days. I now have 4 of the grands' hats and scarves done - 2 more to go. Still attempting the knitting - I have a long way to go...<sigh>

I'm taking off for the day in a few hours. My bff wants to go to the Ilwaco Crab Pot Tree Lighting and I haven't been to the beach for quite a while, so we're going to make a full day of it. Costco, Goodwill, Jack's Country Store (I have Aladdin parts to buy and a few lamps that need a tuneup, and that's THE place to go for Aladdin lamp stuff), and the beach, then the tree lighting. Who wouldn't want to go to a crab pot tree lighting, lol!

Back at work this morning. We are still waiting for the test results on Bubba. Other than that, he is still doing fine. It is a slow morning here at work and I hope it stays that way!!

My neighbor, 84 on Halloween, and the last of "the old neighborhood", had a very bad spell two weeks ago. Delusional Some combination of meds poorly balanced, his decreasing ability to manage same, and creeping dementia. In Dad's latter years, they did chores together and just hung out, drinking tea or coffee in Dad's gazebo in our backyard. Well into their 70's, those two were climbing ladders to get the leaves out of the gutters, bless them. Bob brought me a case of cat food a couple days ago, and just now called to say his daughter told him not to feed Blackie, the stray he is very attached to, any more. He doesn't want the cat to be looking for food, get caught in a snow bank, and freeze this winter. (It's raining this week.) Bob has a place in FL. When he was in the hospital last week, his son said no FL this year, and that they were looking into a visiting nurse and home aides. If Bob has it straight (?) it may be his daughter, who just went home, is coming again soon from out of state to get him settled in FL. He did, however, say he was going February 1st... I am so sad.

Howdy everyone. Use Less that is sad.

Pretty day here starting with a rare fog! Fog I tell you, it was so awesome. It lifted and right now it's .............wait, maybe I shouldn't say how beautiful the weather is........too tired to run from snowballs! but it is pretty and......ok, I'll stop.

DH went to town today to help with a friend's car - I have been finishing up more details on the big project of late and save for a slight mail snafuu, it's going good.

Got almost all my Christmas shopping completed yesterday. Got a late start due to my tummy feeling like trouble, but nothing happened thank goodness! So I got to town, but got home pretty late for me - 5'ish. Lots of nice shopping done and only have one more gift for a couple (same people he's helping on the car), and some gift cards for his family to get. Whoop! Of course not all of the online gifts have arrived yet, but most of them!

Will turn to baking and candy making next. I splurged and bought the ingredients to make Remarkable Fudge, the old recipe from the Better Homes cookbook. My mom just doesn't make it anymore and I miss it!

Have the very last of the carrots from the garden in the dehydrator today - 6 trays!

We will be attending the fire dept. party, I've skipped it a lot the past few years, but a member told me a special gift was purchased by everyone for the chief and deputy chief (my DH) so we really need to go. In addition to the foods I signed up to bring I think I'll make more sugar cookies, maybe make huge gingerbread men shaped ones. I have a cutter that makes one about 5-6 inches tall. They are quite a sight! Another is a really nice Santa hat, not quite that big though, but still a good 4" cookie.

Need to send Elfin Shortbread bites to my one friend who moved to town. She sure loves those things and now I'd feel bad if I didn't get that done. So quick to make too.

Not sure what else to delve into. Had a really big To Do list there for a while, but it's been whittled way down now.

Hope you all are having a great weekend!

Christmas shopping?! That's for Christmas eve lols
Went down to the house today on my own, started to clear out where I want the veg patch to be, it's thistles, nettles and other weeds taller than me at the moment. Hubby stayed home. he'd had a drink the night before and couldn't be bothered.
Can't wait till we have the heating fixed and can move in, will be so much nicer being able to do work without a hour drive each way.
