Homesteader - I'm sorry to hear about your DD's heart problems, that is scary.
My FIL had a virus damage his heart several years back and he now has a pacemaker, but doing really well with it. Prayers for your DD and all of you!

Billie - continued prayers for you.

*********

I went to the Library yesterday and picked up more audio books. I'm listening to the Bio of Mozart at the moment, he was a genius musically, but otherwise a crude little guy.
Picked up a gift card from GameStop for my grandson - tomorrow is his 17th birthday. I'm going to p/u a cake on the way over to DD's tomorrow evening so we can celebrate with him and I plan to take him and one of his school chums to play LaserTag this weekend.

I have a car full of donations to drop off at the shelter today. It's going to be another busy errand day at lunch, but the weather is nice so I'm going to enjoy the sunshine.

I would love to take a 3 day weekend, but I hesitate to use any more days off. I'd rather save them for Christmas Break. I'm glad the holiday season is near. We get several days off this time of year and I can sure use it.

Well, I best get busy, I have plenty of work to keep me busy today.
Have a great Tuesday, everyone!

Homesteader, hugs, prayers and pixie dust for you and your dd, and happy birthday wishes for your dh, if a bit belated. First degree heart block is a blockage, but in the electrical conduction system of the heart, rather than in the blood flow, if that helps you understand it a little better. I hope she's doing better today.
Billie, continued pixie dust for you, too - have I mentioned I'm a great believer in pixie dust, lol?
Michelle, TMI, TMI, lol! Passing the cyber chocolate your way.
Travis, mmm, pizza! We've been discussing how to make the best pizza crust on another thread...any recommendations from your wife?
Vickie, my sister was a teacher (now retired) and her BD is on Veteran's Day. She loved always having her BD off. Hope you can hold out for the holidays.

Blew and rained all night and much of this morning. I think it's finally calmed down...even the hen has her chicks out foraging. I miscounted - thought she had 10 chicks left, but I was wrong. She has 11 babies! Still no chicks from my other broody hen. I could swear it's been about 3 weeks. Abby checked last night while the hen was off the nest and says some of the eggs feel lighter than others, and she didn't hear any cheeping, see any pipping, etc. Nothing smells rotten, so we will let Momma soldier on.

I washed lots of buckets last night, and have almost all of the rice, rolled oats, whole corn, etc stored. Still have about half a dozen more buckets to wash today, and I have to find more lids to match my food safe, non-pickle-smelling buckets.

I still can't seem to make the mylar into bags - I wonder if it's too thick of mylar? Without the mylar bags, I don't dare use the pickle buckets that still smell of dill. The ones I've used outside in the sun all summer are pretty much odor free, but some of the most recently acquired buckets are pretty strong. I've tried all the usual remedies - bleach, baking soda, etc, but it seems like only lots of time baking in the sun seems to really do the trick.

I finished up the week 5 coursework and quiz for the Epidemics course this morning, while I was crocheting a baby cap. My ex-sil's dd is expecting her first baby in about 3 weeks. I'm practicing my crocheting in hopes of making her a baby blanket and a couple little hats. This afternoon, I'll go through my yarn collection and find some nice soft baby yarn for the actual project. The cap I made today was just out of plain old stuff, but it was good for figuring out the size and shape.

Guess I'd better get back to work. Take care, all!

MANYGOATSMORE, I think the crust was store bought. Woke up today before noon. An hour later, the wife and I were on our way to LAFAYETTE to a ceramic shop to get greenware. We then ate at Landry's Seafood restaurant. The 30th is our anniversary. I will be working 5 days in a row then, so we ate out today. Married in 1980. I hope to be just about finished with the crib tomorrow, but I do need to put tires on the little car, so that may mess up my day.

Happy 34th anniversary, Travis. GFB's and my 34rd is coming up in April. Just a light day today. Errands, lunched at Panera, washed both cars. Riding for the 2 1/2 trip to work w/GFB tomorrow, so I will hit the sack soon. We've kept the city windows open since we got back from the lake Sunday. It is probably what y'all non south Floridians think of when you think of summer- 85F, humidity about 76%. Want to know what summer's REALLY like? Have you ever been in a sauna? I kid you not.
DEFINITELY leaving S Florida next summer. Maybe I can get a summerlong Amtrak pass and just keep riding the rails...
MGM I have purchased my CEU package, I just have to make time to sit down and do them!

Happy Anniversary Travis & Oma!!

Today was VERY busy, so I'm sneeking a quick brake before I leave work to read your posts.

I fell asleep last night watching TV and didn't get a thing done at home, but I sure felt better today.

I'm headed out to get cake & ice cream for DGS's 17th birthday today. I'm certain he'll want me to take him to Gamestop to use the gift card I got him too. He's chomping at the bit to get a new game. LOL!

Take care and have a great evening everyone!!

Son came and worked on my computer. My Yahoo mail has been down since April. Cleaned out 14,000+ messages. So now both my mail sites are completely empty, and my iPad and iPhone are all updated and working!

Happy Anniversary Travis! ( and Oma, too). Bill and I will hit 34 yrs in Jan.

Moo Moo was good yesterday so I went ahead and started the applesauce before I went to pick the other two up. Bill helped me finish while homework was started, dinner got going, plus watching the KC Royals game, too. Applesauce is done!!

Bill is out hunting on our property at the moment. Almost dark so he should be coming in soon. (Just came in) Will watch the game and fill out the medical papers that came today for tomorrow's appt.

Time for some dinner and a couple phone calls to relatives for info needed on the medical papers.

Time to make some lists. Tomorrow is the end of the month, so errand and grocery lists are in order.

I plan to mail bills today and drop off another box of stuff at the shelter that my daughter boxed up.
DGS's birthday was very low key. I picked up a chocolate fudge cake and some ice cream and arrived at DD's house around 5:30. We ate dinner and I took him to GameStop to spend the gift certificate I got him on games. It took him awhile, but he finally got them all picked out. LOL! After that we went back to DD's house and had cake and ice cream. He was a happy camper!

Made it home around 9 pm and watched the Thunder BB game with DH then crashed.
This may be our last day of mild Autumn weather for a week or more. We have freeze warnings in effect for tomorrow night. It's time to break out the sweaters and hot chocolate!

Have a wonderful Friday Eve, everyone!!

Thanks for all the Anniversary Wishes! I am at work this morning, but it has been SUPER busy!! Friday, I worked on the crib in the morning, but had to go get tires on the car that evening. They told me to be there at 2 PM, but it took 3 1/2 hours to get the job done. An hour after the tire truck came, they took my car back! I will be at work for the next five days, then two nights, so not much is going to get done on the crib. Well, it is lunch time.

Thank you for the Anniversary wishes.
Jassytoo wishing you the same .I think it's quite an accomplishment now a days 49 years, don't you think!?Ours was Oct the first.
Got back from the lake house tonight, for the closing today.Went up yesterday to get all the decorative stuff,we are leaving the furniture since we don't need it and they were happy to get it for free .Closing was a bit different since the buyer didn't get all the paper work for the flood insurance. So they didn't come and we don't want to go back up there , so we got to sign all the papers and they will do it next week.We are glad it's sold, since we hardly went up any more since the grands got older and have sports and scout stuff going on and we have a lot of church things on Saturdays. But hubby still had to go up and mow and have to upkeep the place and it was just getting to be too much work. But we are grateful for the wonderful times we had there.Told hubby I'd like to get a good size camper and put it in the back of the acreage and the grands can camp out ha ha or if one of us needs to have time alone it will be handy.

Got 3 big tree size pots yesterday for this months shipment of heirloom apples from bighorsecreekfarm, and got 4 pkgs of manure from Home Depot. Need more manure Last night I went to turn on the TV (we have it at the lake-small LCD screen) and it went crackle! and died. Left it unplugged overnight hoping for a reboot-no go. So I found that the only TV repair that still has a working phone number is the 2nd city to our north. Will be a 40 minute drive, but at least we can stop and get more manure! (This years shipment is Winter Pearman, Pumpkin Sweet (also known as Pound Sweet) Sweet Bough, and I forget the 4th. Then I'll be transplanting cauliflower later today.

GMB, Sometimes it is cheaper to just buy another TV. By the time you get one repaired, it cost more than a new TV. Getting parts is a whole other problem!!

GMB hasn't started the new thread yet today, so I got us started and asked the mods to sticky it. If you don't see it stickied yet, it's there...you'll just have to hunt for it down the page!
