Howdy all! Whooo eee rain two days in a row! It poured yesterday then again today. I was driving home from the city when it hit today and was actually not sure I'd get out of the mountain pass safely but I made it! Got soaked all the way thru just running from the car to open the gate and back to the car. Luckily there is cover where the patio stops, so I was able to back up there like I usually do, and the jeep was 3/4's of the way under cover for unloading groceries. Makes for a nice break from having to water the gardens too!

Well tomorrow is my clear liquids only til 3 pm and then I start the dreaded clean out for Wednesday's colonoscopy.

It's so dark in here. It's rare to have such rain/cloud type darkness here, it's kind of eerie......

Still having corn with every dinner! That's almost done now though, but of course we have those successive patches!

Not much else here going on - kind of same 'ol same 'ol. Love reading all about y'alls adventures!

Homesteader,.I had my colonoscopy today. The prep for it is the worst part. The day on just liquids is bad enough ,but drinking that horrible stuff just about does me in.Plus having over an our trip to get there is no fun either. But I praise God ,Doc could not find a hole in my colon like my Gyno Doc said he found.Long story !!But I am glad it's over .Will pray for you that all goes well and that you get a good result.
Of all things our daughter and another friend and I cooked breakfast yesterday at 5 am for our youth group who had slept outside and were starving. They had no supper on sat . night since it was to experience how homeless people live .We cooked bacon ,Canadian bacon and eggs for the English muffins ,plus made a huge amount of monkey bread. It smelled soooo good, could not have any since it wasn't Gluten Free.
Anyway it gave the kids something to think about, sleeping without a shelter no snacks etc and that was just one night for them .They also had a person come to talk to them who works with the homeless ministry.

Grandmotherbear, you are so right. Thank you. I have read many threads on here, over the years, about letting go of toxic family members. I, honestly, never thought this would ever happen to us. But it has. Bill has talked some about what he is feeling but no decisions, yet, for him. Looks like I will be able to go with him on the trip to CO. (Other grandma is out of the hospital and doing well). Bill is from CO and the mts have always been our solace, our retreat. The One above knows we need this time together, in a place we love and draw strength from.

We have new gutters! They sure look pretty, if gutters can be called pretty! 2 down, one more to go. Insulation goes in when we return from our trip. Forgot to mention the a/c quit again last week. System is only 2 yrs old and there is a leak. Have not bothered to call because it cooler and I can open the doors at night. Not sure what we are going to do. At least we have back up heat when it decides to get colder.

Well tomorrow will be a busy day. Almost everything is packed, a few last minute errands, a final clean of the house (I hate coming home to a dirty house!!), then we will load up the truck and be on our way Wednesday morning. Be back in a couple of weeks!!!

Billie you all have a wonderful trip! Just what you need right now!

Oma - glad yours is over! I remember last time when it was over (the prep part), how easy that was compared to what I go thru all the time. Just another "attack" for me really, but not as painful. Of course the procedure itself - I'll be knocked out for that, doesn't bother me at all. I'll be glad when it's over of course, but in the big picture it doesn't matter much, I'll be in the throes of another attack soon after anyway.....

The storm yesterday really was a whopper. Two different vehicles got swept away with people driving them, one flipped onto its side! No injuries. Desert flooding hits so fast and so fiercely. They even cancelled the school buses as the roads were so bad.

Boy the garden looks all happy this morning! Rain seems to make the plants happier than irrigating them.

DH had to go cut down a section of tamarisk that blew down onto the hot wire of the goat fencing. No damage luckily. It was the one branch he didn't get to yet, if you recall he has been cutting down the tamarisks around the goat area on the weekends.

I can have solid food til about 9 a.m., so I think I'll go make me some eggs and toast as my last meal. I have lots of stuff for the liquid diet on hand, white grape and white cranberry juice, lemon jello, popsicles and broth. DH is taking tomorrow off to take me for the procedure.

Well, off to have an easy restful day! I'll be back after the Great Suction is over!

Have a great trip, Billie - I hope you get some rest and can de-stress. Being out of touch is a blessing when you need a timeout from family sometimes.

Oma & Homesteader - I'll be joining the fasting group in a few weeks. The Dr told me last week I was due for a colonoscopy and a mammogram. I relented and allowed them to set-up appointments.
Oma - I'm so glad yours turned out well!
Homesteader - I hope yours turns out well too and that you don't have to suffer afterwards.

It's quiet this week at work. Most of my Team is out for training. I'm glad I didn't have to go to this one.
I've been trying to keep the housework up and continue to de-clutter at home. The grandkids are supposed to spend Saturday night with us this weekend.
It's suppose to rain again in the next few days and get chilly this weekend. I was hoping we wouldn't have to use the heater, but I probably will if it's going to be cold Saturday night. I don't want the kids to get chilled.
At least the electric bill will be cheaper this month, since we're not having to use the AC much at all now.

The State fair is coming to town this weekend. I'm hoping maybe I can take the girls to see Disney On Ice. I think they would like that. When my grandson was about 4 we took him to see Toy Story on Ice, so now it's the girls turn.

Well, I best get busy. Have a wonderful day, everyone!!

Internetting from Bagel Brothers while GFB works. This morning prior to showering and dressing in good clothes I mowed the city front lawn and a path to the back yard (back yards grasses over waist high-they've engulfed my plant pots!)
Tonight will need to pack for weekend trip to my mothers, which means finding the fancy pens/notepads I bought for her birthday and also finding the Washington DC pictures. She was moaning to me about how my brother ignores her and she's so hurt he won't come for her birthday so please bring the kitty kats (he has a rescued daschund that goes everywhere with him that hates cats) so I called to ask him if he was going - don't want my 3 kitties being upset by his dog! He acted like I was crazy or something. Of course he's coming for Mother's birthday...Of course he's bringing the dog. Okay so I will be leaving the cats at the lake with extra bowls of food and I won't even tell her that I know she is lying to me.

After more research on nuts have decided to try growing okari and panama nuts. They are only available as seed and for a minimum order of $50 so I will have to order 3 sets okaris and 2 sets panama nuts. Panama nuts capsules are used for monkey traps. The supplier is govardhan gardens in Puerto Rico. I am not too great at trees from seed, I planted a lot of pre sprouted Pink Lady Apple seeds (they sprout inside the ripe fruit) without ever getting one apple tree, but the pink lady is susceptible to fungal disease, and these 2 nuts are rain forest nuts so should be okay.I hope.

Been planning my visit to dgs at his college. We plan on going to Boone Hall Plantation one day, and driving out to Waxhaw NC to see my niece. Last time I saw her was over 21 years ago!! It is true that what goes around comes around. I was remembering my father trying to see my brother 2 years before my father died, when he knew the chemo had failed. He went to my brother's office and waited in the lobby when he refused to allow my father in- my brother called the police and had him escorted out- well now. Bro refinanced his house to send this niece to Stetson (GFBs and my alma mater) and she dropped out after 2 years to run away with the boyfriend they so disapproved of. After living with him several years, they decided to get married. My brother and his wife weren't invited. They turned up anyway and she called the police to have them escorted out. 10 years later she and her husband are ordained ministers, she has a new baby and they are very gingerly conversing with her mom and stepfather (my bro) We are driving for 3 hours to take them out for lunch and so I can meet my great niece. Man, at times I feel like my family doings could almost give Big Rockpile's a run for his money!

I am back at work tonight, for two nights. I worked last night overtime. It has been a busy weekend at home. Working on the tractor mostly, mowing grass, and one evening had to run to middle daughters house to work on her air-conditioner. I am waiting on more oil seals and o-rings to come in. The wife and I did manage to go out and eat seafood one night. My pregnant middle daughter had someone run into the back of her car this evening. Made her car hit the one in front of her. She is O.K. Every time she gets a new vehicle, some one hits it. I got some pictures to post, but it will be later tonight. I am busy right now at work. I also, got a lot of reading to catch up on, here on this site.

Here are the pics of the work being done on my old IH444 diesel tractor. It will mostly be boring, but some may enjoy them.

Back at work tonight, the last till Sat morning. Got Bob Seger music playing in the back ground. Woke up at about 1:34 PM, ate a bite of meat loaf, cheese potatoes, peas, and corn on the cob. Brought the garbage cans in from the road, checked the mail and sprayed nearly 20 gals of weed and grass killer before coming to work. Ran by brother-in-laws to bring him some info on a welding machine he has. Its a Miller machine, with carb trouble. Still waiting on my tractor parts I ordered. It may be a couple of more days. Got plenty to do till they come in. I would ask you all to be GOOD, but I think it is just USELESS!!!!!!!!!!!

Went up to our lake house yesterday to meet the new Realtor and list the house with him
early this morning.Hopefully he is better then the last one we had.Lowered the price again
so will see .It's just too much for us to keep up 2 places.Ha ha can barely do all the work here. It's one thing when you have good health, but that is not the case anymore.the Realtor did say that the average time to sell lakefront property is one and one half years. So we'll keep praying.

Hello everybody! Many prayers lifted to the families of the 9-11 victims.

Bring it on you "insert whatever word you want here"......we're ready. Come and see what happens to you if you attack Americans. Come see what happens when we say "Let's roll". We'll be going to the mall today and to school and to the park. We'll tour the tourist attractions all across the USA. You have done nothing to dissolve the backbone of the people of this great nation. Nothing. Bring it on. We're ready.

Colonoscopy went fine - doc said well, just like all my IBS patients, you go thru such misery but everything inside is fine! He did say something about he did a biopsy to check for "colitis", not sure what he meant by that exactly, maybe he is checking for ulcerative colitis. Easiest clean out day ever. They gave me one where you have two packets of powder, you take these doses about 5 hours apart. The lady in his office had told me, look, if you drink as much of that water after (in this case 40 oz., after drinking the 5 oz that the powder was mixed into), it works better and it goes thru faster. So I did and I'm glad. Last time I did the pills, oh gosh that was tough.

He won't prescribe the pills anymore as they weren't cleaning people out as good and something about livers. Anyway, I drank it within 30 minutes and what was nice was, once the main hour and half was over (each dose), I was able to rest in between.

Only scary thing was when I woke up, the nurse was taking my blood pressure, like over and over. I said is it ok? She said actually no, your bottom number is 45. That's not so good. But within about 5 minutes it came back up.

The rain from Monday, wow, it's still wet here. My socks even got wet walking around out there this morning. Isn't that great? We put the rain delay on again for another 24 hours.

Hubby did a little birthday shopping while I was being roto-rootered! We have a doozy of a party coming up towards the end of the month. With my DD still taking the treatments for Lyme disease, (her bd is in August), we decided to combine hers, mine (the 15th of this month), and Son in law, the 20th) into all one birthday party and do it at my Mom's house. We always do SIL's and mine together, but this time we'll have three! SIL needs a drill, so it was good DH picked that out - he sure has more knowledge on the tools than I do.

The gardens are just loving the weather, rain and a bit cooler, then not over about 95 degrees - the corn is exploding!!!!!!!

I need to pick beans and then, make a final decision on the chard, but my tummy hurts from yesterday so not today!

Travis, nice tractor stuff. We have a John deere but it's a yellow one, with a bucket in front and whatever you want to attach behind. DH has had it for about 35 years now. It sure has come in handy in our homesteading activities. He used it to pully up the pipe when we put in a new pump for our well, that was great! He uses it sometimes as a "step ladder" too, hee hee.

Well, off to rest a bit today. Goats get their mani/pedi today from the farrier so that's good. I'm too tired to get into any trouble today, so instead, I'll make a list of stuff I can get into trouble with tomorrow!

Homesteader - I'm glad your test turned out okay! I heard it was flooding out your way. I watched a video of someone driving up the highway through the canyons with falling rocks and waterfalls everywhere - pretty scary.
Stay safe!!

*****

It rained last night and cooled down into the 60s. It's supposed to be even cooler tomorrow and more rain.
I didn't get much done last night, just too tired when I got home. Our short-hair chihuahua is afraid of storms, so she was laying against me under the covers most of the night. She can't stand thunder.

I doctored the horse's ear with more black salve last evening and noticed the big tumor on his left ear was about ready to fall off. When I went out to feed him this morning, it was gone. Yay!!! Now that both tumors are gone, I just need to keep an eye on his ears and make sure they scab over and stay clear. Usually the clove oil I put in the salve does a good job of healing it over. I'm so glad those things are gone and I know he's not suffering with them anymore.

I feel for one of my friends. Her Labradoodle was diagnosed with untreatable lymphoma yesterday and apparently only has about a month to live. She's heartbroken. She's single and her daughter is grown and out on her own and her 3 dogs are like kids to her. I feel so bad for her. It's sad to lose fur-babies, when they are part of the family.

I have plenty to do today, but I'm not very motivated. Hopefully I can just plow through and get it all done anyway. I know I'll feel better when I know the work is complete.
Well, I best get busy. Have great day, everyone!

Homesteader, I have collagenous colitis and the only way they know that is by doing biopsy. Without biopsy the colon wall looks OK. It is a form of microscopic colitis. Can be a miserable thing. I control mine with diet. I also have celiac's. The restricted diet is better than the constant bathroom use

Howdy from the city girl here. I finally completed the woodpiles (there is another row behind this one) then it started pouring rain! That rain is always messing up my work, but I want to show pictures, because I'm so proud of this Before and After!

Homesteader I am so glad that your test turned out well for you, and that you did ok.Lets hope the biopsy turns out fine also.
Nancy since you are also eating GF,let me tell you i just had the best toast since I've been on my GF diet. It's from Aldi and lots cheaper then both Udi's or Rudi's I've tried both bagels and buns. They are alright but I love this bread.Don't know if you have an Aldi, but they have lots of GF items now.
Was very productive today .Made green tomato mincemeat canned 10 half pints, made 2 pumpkin pies,a quiche ,mincemeat tarts and treats for our dog, plus cooked a big pork chop dinner. And tonight we worked in the food pantry. So I am done for the day

Oma - you rock! You got alot done!

WildIdeas - Nice Job!! that's an awesome woodpile!!

You all put me to shame. Of course I could get alot more done at home if I was retired. Oh well, hurry up and wait on that one. LOL!

We're having wonderful Autumn weather here and it's not even officially Fall yet. It's raining and in the 50s. I love it! It perked me up this morning. Of course it's Friday too, so that's always helpful - knowing I get two days off.

I need to vacuum, sweep and mop tonight. The grandkids are coming tomorrow evening - well maybe I should wait until Sunday. Goodness knows we'll track dirt in again!
I managed to get all of my errands run this past week, so now I can enjoy my weekend. I actually got my fridge and some cabinets cleaned out last weekend, which was long overdue and makes me happy when I open a door and don't see a cluttered mess.

I'm gaining ground on the de-cluttering. I keep loading my car up and either donating to the Shelter, or taking stuff to friends and relatives that have claimed things they want. It's been a slow process, but I'm actually seeing progress.
I keep forgetting to get the paint for the bedframe I bought, so I need to add that to my list so I can get that done, put up and out of the way.

Have a great Friday, everyone!!
