Realized today that I have not been on HT for 2 months. No one noticed!!! ahhh.........

A few highlights: Bill's mom had a heart attack on 29 June. In the hospital till 4 July, has to wear a shock vest for 3 months and going to cardio therapy. Heart capacity is only at 20%.

I have been working on Christmas/birthday presents. Gotten 6 done and have 4 more started plus several ideas for more. Been working to get my charity stuff done and mailed, too. Just took another shawl off my loom this morning, yarn ready for the next one. Will be doing 3 shows this year (Oct, Nov, Dec). This will be my first time showing the shawls. We will miss the Sept show as Bill and I will be in Colorado. Going elk hunting with his nephew. We will be camping, in a tent, up in the high country. Can't wait to smell that fresh mountain air!!! Miss it terribly!!!!

Bill's family in Colorado are still being..........(whatever bad word you want to use). Will not be seeing them when we are there. They all had a family reunion earlier this month and we were not invited. Family came from TX and Calif. Just boggles the mind that they mess up and then blame us. Sheesh........

Fixing to empty the savings account. Having 3 new windows put it (we only have 5 windows in this house and the other 2 are huge....can't afford those right now and they don't open anyway). Plus new gutters/shields all the way around and finally the attic is getting insulated. It has none, no insulation, at all. Should help with the electric bill, don't you think??

Much more has gone on but those are the highlights! Well lunch is over, off to start a new shawl on the loom.

Billie, OH YES WE DID MISS YOU! Sorry about your MIL, but glad she survived. I hope you do fantastic at the shows. You can't choose your family, remember that, and just move on. Their loss. Doesn't make it any easier, I suppose, Dh is starting to get hunting fever, too. Sure wish he'd get an elk before he's too old to go any more. I hope you do, too.

Hey everyone! Work is awesome! Thinking about work while not at work sucks, but I catch myself thinking about what I would like to do someday and it is kind of exciting! Not much else to report. Just wondering when we will get our new store. I'm enjoying the rain and lightning. Had a beer this morning then some chicken breast pieces. MMM!!! New stuff is growing in my garden so that is exciting! Hoping the peas do well. We shall see.

Yesterday I mowed the Lakeside lawn in installments, some before 10 am & some after 4 pm. Did have a reaction to heat so accepted GFBs assistance. We picked the tiny aerial tubers of Chinese yam + I will Sauternes some in butter to go with quesidillos. for lunch. Rest of yesterday spent in the bookstore and in Panera. Breast, internetting. Today U was notified by dermatologist that they need to carve a lil bit more out of the top of my hand so that will. so that willhappen Wednesday. Don't know if I mentioned that a lightning strike fried our dial up adapter. and one of our compute trs and the other was laid low by a virus so we are still on semi smart phones or an ancient. laptop

Wow, GMB - Prayers for you an GFB both, you are having a tough time!!

Michelle - I'm so glad work is finally going better for you!
***

It's been a good day. I had lunch with my friend, Colleen and told her about our vacation. Her 3 dogs have all been having health issues. She's a good Mama to her fur-babies. Thank goodness they were adopted by her - she bars no expense to take care of them. We had a great chat.

I need to get the sheets washed and the carpet cleaned this evening. The grandkids are staying with me tomorrow night, so DD can get some rest. She's had a tough few weeks moving and the going through eye surgery with the youngest. All while we were gone.

Work has been really quiet this week. The guys were out for conferences and meetings, so I've just been taking my time getting things done and enjoying the lull.

I've been doctoring the horse's ears with the black salve I made, for the past 4-6 weeks, with help from my neighbor.
Shadow had a sarcoid tumor on each ear. The one on his right ear fell off and is scabbing over. That either happened sometime this week or while we were gone. While doctoring the one on the left ear last night, I noticed it's barely hanging on at the base. It had gotten bigger, but that can happen when the salve is drawing more of the tumor out of the tissue below it. I'm praying it falls off soon. I put a lot of clove oil in the mixture, which helps numb the pain and keeps infection away.

Our newest fur-baby chewed my drivers side seat belt in half. It sticks sometimes and apparently I closed it in the door the night before and it was hanging from the bottom half of the door.
She's such a sweetie, but she's a destroyer. I no longer have an intact lap belt, but at least it left the shoulder belt intact. That way I can wear that and I won't get a ticket for not having one on.
One of my coworkers told me to get some green-apple spray to deter her. I'll have to pick some up when I go to Petsmart next week.

I finally got all my travel receipts turned in, so maybe I'll get reimbursed in a few weeks. I'm doing my best keep the credit cards paid off and not carry a balance.

I'm praying we get some rain and cooler temps next week. We've been hitting high 90s and 100s most of the week.

Have a wonderful Friday evening, everyone!!

Had a little rain over night and then a little shower this afternoon. I have clothes on the line so they will have to stay awhile longer I will be able to start making tomato juice tomorrow as I've finally gathered enough tomatoes to make it worth while. I always want at least 45 tomatoes to make a canner full.

Here's a little something ..Everyone has heard the lyrics "jambalaya, crawfish pie, and a file' gumbo" What's the difference between gumbo and file' gumbo? File' powder..File' powder is just powdered sassafrass leaves. Find some sassafrass trees and you can make your own powder.

Busy day.Went with hubby and youngest grandson to give out food from the Mobile Food Pantry truck. Was super hot and humid.Grandson had a ball ,he loves to help with that every month. Some people came at 5am to get in line. There really is no need for that since the ones who come at 9 or later get the same amount of food.We don't start till 10 am.
After that went to Church to do a funeral dinner.Didn't have to cook anything, except do the drinks , since all the food was brought in. Did all the set up yesterday. Still a lot of work and I was shot when we got home .
Tomorrow afternoon we have lake side baptism. Our church does that once a year at the lake.Youngest grandson is going to be baptized tomorrow
Then tomorrow night is HS youth group which means fixing food and feeding 80 plus teens, and they can eat

Thanks Jan for missing me!! Was really just kidding, One of these times when we come thru CO and stop to visit our friends who live in the same town as you we will have to do lunch. This time I don't think Bill is planning to stop. He is talking about driving straight thru.

2 more shawls done and another one on the loom is almost halfway done. I am hoping to have 12 done for the first show. I am taking them with me to CO to finish them up. Still have to weave the ends in and put the edging on. I am not a big fan of fringe so I am crocheting a border on them. The border has three rounds to it. Looks pretty good on the first one I did. Will work another week on weaving and then shift gears to my fabric postcards. Have some new designs already drawn up so I will get them drawn onto the fusible webbing and then fused to the fabric. Will take them along and cut them out when I need a break from crocheting the shawl borders. Still hoping I can find time to get a pine needle basket started.

Grandkids came over this evening to spend the night. Daughter and her hubby were going out to dinner with friends. Harvest season is about to begin so she will see him in passing for the next 2 months. Corn and soy beans are just about ready. They also raise cattle. Tobacco fields near us have already been harvested.

Thursday evening Bill had to work late (he went in at noon). He always calls to let me know he is on the way home. Watched the time and then went outside to wait for him. He didn't come, and didn't come and didn't come. Started to get a bit worried so came in and saw a message on the phone. Kind of garbled but caught something about the police. An hour later he finally shows up. His sister called while he was teaching class so he was calling her back. He was in the car with the parking lights on and someone called the SP's and reported a suspicious car. So here came 2 cars and blocked him in. Bill said, "I'm talking on the phone so I decided not to drive and talk". SP gave him a thumbs up and said, "Thank you, have a nice evening".

Then, of course, he was all worked up about what his sister said and couldn't get to sleep. I gave up at 2:30am and Bill said he came to bed at 4am!!! They are just exhausting us and we don't even live there anymore. Ugh....

Looks like I am going to have to go get my eyes checked. Everything is always blurry, near and far, even with my glasses on. Not good when you can't see even with your glasses on!

Beautiful morning here! A bit crisp, I put a sweatshirt of for chores, but really pretty. My chicks are laying well - over 2 dozen a day, but small, of course. I'm selling some up at the Park, and more by word of mouth advertising. With the big light I'm going to put up (well, have put up) on Wednesday, I hope to keep them laying through the winter.

Worm bed is doing great, as far as I can tell - lots of worms, but I'm not supposed to harvest for another month or so. Not good timing for selling to gardeners, but nothing I can do for that this year. I should be really good to go in the spring.

Grandaughter just got another concussion - I swear I'm going to get a helmet for her! She went to the doctor for a vaccination she needed to start college, and as she was checking out, she fainted and hit her head on a door edge. Ended up in the hospital that night as she was confused and dizzy. That's number 4 - not good. When it happens, she doesn't have any warning, just collapses. It usually happens when she sees blood - especially when she has a nosebleed, but this time it was after a shot.

I'm having a problem with my ears - feel all plugged up, but I can't flush anything out - does anyone have a good idea? No pain, no fever, just can't hear much! I hate to go to the doctor for a minor thing, but it's getting really annoying. No other congestion, just the ear tube.

I dont get on here much these days, staying with my mom at night since June 2nd,I get 2 nights a month at home. She is doing good since her stay at the nursing home. Its been a bad year for our family, lost a nephew to cancer two weeks ago.He was 38,had a family& was a good christian man. This past week a niece lost her baby at 12 weeks,it has devastated her family.it would have been the first for her & hubby.
Hoping things will be better for all of us soon,I think I am having caregiver burnout,so tired. No garden this year but my brother blessed me with 2 bushel of beans, which I did find energy enough to can.

Cowbelle, it could just be a wax plug. I had the same thing happen a few years ago (same symptoms) and that was what it was for me. It did take several days, tho, to get it all flushed out.

TnMtngirl - I am so sorry for your family's losses. How sad. Healing prayers for you all.
I've had the same issue for the past 3 years - caregiver burnout - this past year was the worst, just totally exhausted. I truly feel for you.
My Mother passed away back in December of 2013, but it took me a few months to grieve, so I spent a few months just emotionally drained.
My Aunt passed away in July and my youngest granddaughter just went through eye surgery - she's doing fine now and no damage to her eye that we know of, but after awhile it all just drains you, so I know what you mean.
I'm praying for calmer Fall season.
******

I finally made a Dr's appt to figure out what is going on with my back. They couldn't get me in until next Tuesday, so I guess I'll live on Advil until then. Something has messed with the middle of my spine and the muscles on the right side have gone rigid - apparently trying to protect whatever is damaged. I can get around okay, it has just made for a tiring day in the office and I'm not sleeping well. I swear, it's always something!!

DH's birthday was yesterday and he wanted to go out for dinner, which was fine by me. So he drove over to the Casino about 20 miles west of us. They used to have a good buffet that included seafood, however, there was no seafood and I wasn't impressed by the quality, this time, at all. We could have gone to Golden Corral and gotten a better deal and better food. He wanted to play the slot machines for a little while. After I spent my $20 of play money though, I was bored and ready to go. His lasted much longer than mine and we laughed when we left, since they definitely didn't make much off of us. We go in to eat about once every other year and spend $20 playing just for the fun of it. I actually won $100 one year - which I hurriedly cashed out on. Since I wasn't impressed with the buffet though, I doubt we'll go back again.

DD and I spent Saturday working to move the last of her stuff to her new rent house. She'll need to go back and clean this week, but it was so hot we left some stuff in the garage she'll have to move. The grandkids spent Saturday night with us, so she could have a date night. I plan to rest this next weekend and I'm thrilled that I have 3 days off. I have so much to do at home!

Have a great day everyone. It sounds like you are all very busy!!

Back at work this morning. I had the last two days off, after working a whole week. Mowed grass at home and various other projects. Went to Cosco and spent nearly 500 dollars on mostly groceries!! Should not have to go back for a month or more. Made a blueberry cobble last night. The wife does not like blueberries. Guess who got the cobbler!!!

Vickie, hope you get your back figured out and fixed. That's miserable and hard to get anything done. Like you, seems we spend more time working on our grown kids' problems and chores than we can on our own.

Cowbelle, I also had the blocked ears last year, both of them and oddly, it worsend more every day until I was almost unable to hear anything. I remembered my lifelong friend's mother's solution. She was a nurse all her life and while she did this with a lot of cautions-if you aren't careful you can damage your eardrum--I bought one of those kits to clean out ears, did that, then her method. It was to use the rounded end of a 'bobby pin' to scoop out the softenend wax. It was wonderful to be able to hear again. Hope your granddaughter will be alright!

Travis, you are one hard working man and deserve a few days off! Do something fun!

TMG, Sorry for the losses in your family. It seems like sometimes you feel you can't stand one more thing! Rest when you can and refresh your soul.

Billie, your shawls sound absolutely beautiful. Would love to meet your for lunch or whatever, even pie and coffee if that's all the time you have! Have a safe trip!

I must get out and feed critters, will read more posts later. Rain and more rain due today

Today I'm interneetting at Einstein Brothers Bagels. Yesterday was just a lot of city errands. My mothers birthday is 9/13-she was born at the height of the '26 hurricane in St Pete-an since she ALWAYS gives me back the gifts I buy her, sometimes years later, I decided to buy her something that would at least be useful should she give it back- jeweled pens and memo pads from the Pier One closing down the street.
Met my gf from BSA at the local Mexican restaurant for dinner. She brought along the last Scoutmaster I had served under. Shock to find his boys are in their late 20's early 30s and fathers!Had a great time.
DGS is set up at school. His parents did not arrange an allowance for him so GFB and I will be sending him what we call walking around money each month. My computer is almost out of juice
