just got back from the dentist. I thought it would be like the last crown, one shot and that would be it, but not this time it took 4 shot to numb the tooth so he could drill. now the whole side of my face hurts.
have a appointment with the physical therapist at 1 for my neck maybe that will help.

feeling much better now! amazing how much better I feel after the physical therapist worked on my neck and shoulders. I can turn my head without my neck feeling tight.
I think I will relax for the rest of the day.

Peggy, glad your neck and shoulders are better. That is SO miserable! There is no rhyme or reason to why it takes more novacaine sometimes than others! Same with any anestetic, I think.

Peggy glad your doing better. My doctor ordered physical therapy for me, but they also want to get me one of those things that the chiropractor uses. It sends im assuming electric currents through your muscles. Not sure what there called but I remember them using it on my daughter. It helped her a lot. I have spondylosis in my back and inflammation at the bottom of my spine. I will be so glad when I'm not in pain. I do take to medicines for it and they seem to help. Our is so hard for me to take arthritis meds since I have heart failure and a fib.

We got some rain today and it felt so good. My beans are sprouting so it will do them good and my butter nut squash is peeking out of the dirt.
Have so much more to plant this month and next month. Still favoring my ankle but doc says it will take some time.
Everyone have a wonderful week.

Jan in Co, the flooring is called
Virginia Mill Works 5/8" x 4-7/8" Castle Park Oak Easy Click

It is dark looking. (I don't know why it came up so big when I copied and pasted). Anyway, got up Monday morning and called about getting more flooring. The Baton Rouge place did not have anymore and did not know when it would be back in. I told him to check the other stores. New Orleans store had some, but it would cost me 85 dollars to have it shipped to Baton Rouge. I told him to have New Orleans hold me two boxes, that I am on my way to get them. First I had to take father-in-law to Walmart. Got back, gased up the car, bought some fried chicken fingers, and some fig newtons, along with a large diet coke. Away I went!! It was around 110 miles one way. Got the floor and got back home in a couple of hours. The wife had bar-b-qued, with a salad, so did not do nothing else Monday. Got up today at 9 AM. We layed the last few rows of flooring. We then went to Home Depot and got some 1/4 round molding. Stopped off at a seafood restaurant and ate. Then we went to Walmart to get a few things. I am now at work tonight, with the left over seafood platter in the icebox for later tonight. Coffee is good!!! I will paint the molding after I get up tomorrow and I need to change the oil in the car and mow grass, before work. Don't know if I will get it all done or not.

Travis, that's really pretty flooring! I like it. Glad you could get the rest that you needed to finish up the job.

DH and I spent part of the day running errands in the city, but my allergies are acting up something terrible, so I was glad to get home and get some cold on my eyes This time of year is a mess for me.

Sad about Robin Williams and now Lauren Bacall has died at 89. Wonder who the third will be. Mama always says deaths come in threes.

Woke up today around 11:30 AM. Went out and painted the molding. Next I mowed the back yard. Around 2:30 PM, decided to lay back down for a while. Slept about an hour. Had salad for supper, then got ready for work. I am at work tonight. I return back to work Sat morning. Hope to get the molding up before Sat. work. Coffee Time!!

Got the brooder house cleaned out this morning. I will be getting some broiler chicks the week after labor day so I want to be ready for them. I'll wait until the farm store has their fall chicks to buy my chick starter feed and bedding. They always put those things on sale then. I like to order my chicks from Welps Hatchery because I like to have my chicks vaccinated.

Loved catching up on what you all have been doing. I was really bummed out with a few days of rain and it was hard rain sometimes too, here in southwest Virginia. Happily today I was able to get out and get more done. The beans my MIL planted were ready so I picked two giant buckets of those and I've learned how to can navy beans and now green beans. I took a romantic picture of my beans in a basket for my city friends. Haha! I picked tomatoes today too and heard either a really big deer or very close deer huffing at me in the forest. The garden is surrounded by 8 foot deer fence and thick timber so I couldn't see, but it was exciting. Oh, my dog is one year old and grew up in the city so isn't very country-wise yet and a super thick weed stem where I had been clipping thick weeds poked him in the back of his throat. He isn't a happy pup right now.

Hope your pup feels better wildideas.
Was pretty busy today. Been cleaning all around the cabin, the last people that had the place had it a mess. It sure is looking better. I'll have to post a picture.

Got two quarts of peaches, two quarts of strawberries, two quarts of canalope, and one pineapple in the freezer. Also have a big watermelon to put up.

We got the bedroom, bathroom, and utility room framed in, going to get the ceiling Joyce's and rafters put in. Hoping to have it done by the time the cold weather sets in.

Garden is looking good. Should be coming in about the time it gets cooler. Fig tree has lots of figs coming on. Sure do like fig preserves. I have fourteen peach seeds I'm going to plant in pots this fall. I will keep some to plant and sell the rest.

Everyone have a good nite and a good weekend.

I buy Cornish Rock broilers. I like to get them after labor day as it is cooling down by then and I can get them butchered in Nov. before it gets too cold.

We had a new well pump put in at the end of May. Had the water tested at the beginning of Aug. and it came back that coliform was present. The well driller came back today and disinfected it as he did not do that when he installed the pump. I will be glad not to have to buy bottled water. Luckily we have another well with a hand pump so I can get a few buckets of water for dishes. Well man said we can flush the toilet but otherwise don't use the water for 24 hours and then to flush the system good before "normal" use of the household water begins.
We'll retest the water in a couple weeks to be sure it is OK to drink.

I planted cabbage, bok choi, lettuce, and chard this past week. I have small cukes on my vines. I'm making a sort of Southwest style chicken burrito. I took chicken, red and green bell pepper, onion, white beans and corn and taco cheese into burrito style tortillas. Into the veggie meat mix I added cumin and chili powder and garlic powder. Also I put dried cilantro in it. I took a can of tomato soup, mixed some chili powder, cumin, garlic powder into it. Covered my burritos in that and added taco cheese and cheddar and into the oven it went. Smells awesome! Chicken bones with onion celery and carrot in it too simmering to make broth. Working tonight.

The younger donut fryer is ok, but he is slow. My boss told me to help him get out on time and he has found ways to stay too long. So now I'm not to help him. We shall see how that goes. I think he will be late and hopefully will get spoken to. I have things for the bakery that I can't do when I'm stuck helping him.

Woke up Thurs around noon, after working nights. Painted the final coat of paint on the molding. Mowed grass. Cut up the rest of the waste cedar log and put it on a fire I built around a stump. Also, cut up other limbs, logs with the chainsaw for the fire. Friday, went to my dads to work on the roof. He had a small leak toward the edge of the roof. Ran errands in town. Got home, started putting up the molding in the living room. Next, I pulled the tile saw out for the wife and the tile, for the wife to tile the front door entrance. Tiling is her job. She don't want me touching it. I am at work this Sat morning for my three day run and to rest up. I also am working overtime my two off days, so it will be a full week.

Pup was fine the next day. So far since moving to the country, we have had one ground hornet nest incident and the throat incident. Not bad for 18 days I think.

My next job is to shore up the old chicken coop that currently is on the land, but vacant for a couple of years now. Looks like the bear tried to get in, so we will fix one or two of the walls but seems salvageable, according to my in laws. As soon as that is done, I can get chickens. My in laws really like buff orpingtons for this area since they are free range and do well with the land and weather here but now I wonder about Nancy's cornish rock broilers.

Have been weeding the garden still, tearing out overgrowth around the property and hauling brush to a big brush pile in what used to be a goat pasture and trying to clear a fence line around a pasture I would like to put pigs on too. With as much as I have been doing, I can't believe some spider or snake hasn't gotten me yet.

Feels like fall!

The early mornings are crisp here in the high country - hot during the day, but it's changing for sure. We had 2 inches of rain this past week - everything is turning green again - my pasture looks like a lawn! (and lawn looks like a pasture!)

My old Kelpie bitch is dying - she's 16 1/2, so it's due. It will be the end of an era for me - raising, training, selling, working the stockdogs. I miss it, but with the age and bad knees, I just couldn't keep it up. Her granddaughter is up in Canada, doing great things for the gal I gave her to.

Granddaughter is starting at the local community college next week - same one that flunked out of her junior year of highschool. She does so well on tests that they are letting her start college - I don't understand it, but at least she has another chance to make good. I hope she buckles down and does well. She can if she wants to, but often doesn't care enough to try.

Got the formal notice that my P.O. will go to 6 hrs a day in January - it will seriously cut my income, but still will be more than I could make anywhere else around her, and have the benefits, and still adding to my SS and other retirement account.

So, must make the best of my day off and clean the house - hosed off the outside yesterday afternoon - it gets all grungy with cobwebs and flies caught in the webs.
