I bought coconut gelato to have with the big homegrown golden pineapple and it was rotted!!Pitched it into the compost from the kitchen stoop=I don't walk outside, barefoot or in sandals, t night. We have a decent sized coral snake living under the shed- she doesn't come out in the daytime, and after we saw her that one evening I have been very careful to wear shoes traipsing around at night. And I've gotten to be good pitcher, lobbing nasties into the compost from the stoop.
The smaller pineapple was dead golden ripe and made a perfect match for the gelato. Got my shot today- and a letter that my dermatologist is retiring!! (and she's younger than I am!!) You know your getting old when your healthcare practitioners are all retiring- and younger than you are!!
and back out to the lake. Trying to figure out how to pack the car so the kitties haave space for a litter box when we travel. Usually we rent an SUV but trying to hold down expenses for this trip since there is a chance (what do you bet?) we will have to finance some of dgs college setup.

Good morning from the mountain. So much has happens since my last months post. Didn't realize it had been a month already. My mom moved back to Fla 2 weeks ago, haying has been going great except for all the rain. A month ago we had some severe weather come thru and messed up my whole farm. Trees were tore up by their roots and a friends camper that she was living in, that was in my driveway was tossed over my bank like it was a toy. We are still cleaning up a lot of stuff, we lost all the trees on the road side of my property. Now the fight to keep it from washing away even further into the road. We have been hit with some pretty heavy rains lately. The garden is growing great, not as big as I had hoped but guessing there will be enough to trade with other farmers for things I don't have. Started raising meat rabbit to help with the food supply over the winter. My meat doe gave birth the other day and lost all 14 of them,, I figure its was stress because she did go over the bank in the wind storm, I will give her one more shot, if not then she will end up in a canning jar. So much to do before winter gets here. No wood has been put up yet due to we need to build a wood shed and finish cleaning up all the trees that came down in the storms. I have been asking for an addition to my kitchen but that doesn't seem to be very welcomed when I talk about it.. But I am figuring DH does get everything he wants its high time I do also. The house is pretty quiet now,, only people who actually live in it is DH and myself and Nick. Of course my Anthony is here as much as I can have him. After fall that wont happen much as he starts kindergarten. Samantha and Lilianna have been told she has til Labor day to find a new place to live as I wont allow her to live in my little house another winter with Lilianna, not fair to Lily not to have a nice place to live,, not just a building which really is a glorified bedroom. Sami keeps saying I am kicking her out,,nope not really ,,making her grow up,, lived here now over 4 yrs and hasn't contributed anything to finding a place to live for her and her daughter. Tough love,, hard on me but sucking it up and doing it. Rob has today off let see what kind of screwed up day we can have.. when he has days off it messes my whole schedules of doing stuff. Sorry but I don't look forward to extra days off like some might... I mainly wanted to check in,,time to get this day outside started,, chores to do and laundry to hang in between rain drops.. I hope you all have an awesome day

Monday morning, I went out and painted some more molding boards. I was debating on going to town and getting the rest of the flooring boards. The wife had a doctors appointment. Rain was the deciding factor. The rain finally cleared off the radar, so I got ready and we went to town. I had a gift card for Outback Steak House. I also looked on the computer at Outback's website and noticed, if Kevin Harvick came in in 10th place or better, you got a free BLOOMING ONION on the Monday, following the Nascar race. He came in 8th. I pulled up at the restaurant at 12 noon. Not a soul in the parking lot! They don't open till 4 PM on Mon though Fridays. I had PMS!! Went to TJ Ribs across the road instead. I am at work this morning drinking coffee, no donuts. My coffee is lonely!!

Well, Travis.. that was actually me posting above under Jean because I'm on my mother in laws computer since mine isn't set up yet and had not realized that I wasn't set up on my own forum account. I asked the moderators to remove it.

Reposting here for when they remove the above:
Good afternoon from the this mountain over here in Virginia. It was a looooong drive after leaving Chicago at nearly midnight Saturday and we ended up staying two nights in hotels. Having a young energetic dog slowed us down. But we rolled through beautiful W Virginia then our final destination during the day. Woke up early and today my inlaws are gone so we have toured the land to see what needs to be done. I don't know where to start. There is so much overgrowth along fence lines, fence lines that are incomplete (or buried within growth) that I don't know how to start or really what to start with. I mostly enjoyed walking through the woods and looking at the four springs on the property and the small creek running through. Water is very low though. It must have been dry so far this year. We also need to stack firewood and clear out the front yard of branches and stuff then weedeat and definitely create a better way to and around the garden. I went to see how it was and though I know things are growing somewhere over there, I actually couldn't see it! Need to mend the chicken house so I can get my chickens, I think soon before winter? I don't know - there is so much I need to learn but what I do know is that it is very beautiful here. Smells great, sounds great and I've seen a lot of deer. I should get a book of local flora and fauna and learn my plants, trees and birds.

Welcome, WildIdeas!!
I'm excited for you - blessings in your new endeavor. Virginia is beautiful and SW Virginia is quite breathtaking. My Aunt and cousin both live around Blacksburg and I'm fortunate enough to be able to see them on vacation in August.
Enjoy your new home!!

Wow, everyone has been so busy and I've missed reading and posting. It will take me awhile to catch up with everyone's daily goings-on.
Last Thursday DD, I and the granddaughters headed to Branson to check-in and stay two days. I had to p/u DGS Friday morning at Camp Barnabas on Table Rock Lake. Driving in the Ozarks at night was a bit unnerving, since night driving is hard for me anyway.
We made it into Branson about 3 a.m. Friday morning. I let DD and the girls sleep and went over to p/u DGS. It was a beautiful drive and I learned the routes pretty good. After he and I got back to the hotel, we all went out for a late breakfast. I took all of his dirty clothes to the laundromat while DD and all the kids swam at the pool and took naps. We went to Silver Dollar City that evening. I had bought Moonlight Madness discount tickets for SDC. It was cooler and we were able to ride the train a few times and some of the rides, but all the craftsmen and most of the vendors were already closed. Some of the rides were close down too, so it wasn't as good of a deal as I thought it would be.
We spent the night in Branson, ate a big breakfast Saturday morning and headed back home. It was too short of a vacation with alot of driving, so next year we're going to make it a real 3 day weekend and do SDC during the day and go see the Dixie Stampede show. I don't recommend the Moonlight Madness discount tickets - too much money and not enough entertainment.

Last night I finalized our vacation trip to Virginia for the 2nd week of August. We got all of the flights and a rental car arranged. I'm glad that part is done, I'm less stressed about it now!

DH has been sick with a bad upper-respiratory infection and now myself and DD have it too. I stayed home Monday and slept most of the day. Yesterday I felt better, then my smallest fur-baby, Penny the chihuahua wasn't moving around much, not eating or drinking all day Monday. So I took her to the vet yesterday and found out she hurt her back somehow. He gave me some pain-meds for her and told me not to let her jump on/off the furniture.
It figures all this would happen right before I fly out to Philly this weekend for training. LOL! Murphy's Law!!!

It's getting better though! DD is moving into her new rental house this weekend and I'm definitely ready for a fun, leisurely vacation.

Have a great day, everyone and don't work too hard!!

Hey all! I was to go to town for shopping but my tummy had other ideas. I think, cross fingers, it may be almost over so I could still get there!

Meantime, harvested beans that filled-to-the-gills a gallon ziplock baggie! Some quite lovely reddish ones, but I didn't stop to find the id tag as I was trying to get the picking done before the heat and ants hit.

Got more cukes too - DH really loves to pick those! I did have a super busy day yesterday - worked on a rush order and got it to the post office just in time. That was almost 2, came home and canned 9 pints of the little tiny marble sized ones of the potato harvest. One didn't seal so it went into the fridge.

We had my homemade turkey/bean burgers, vinegar potatoes and freshly sliced tomato for dinner - so good.

A family we know a little bit came over last night. Oh it is such a refreshing thing to watch 5 well behaved happy children. Each got to pick their own carrot and a flower, what a kick. Not that they are new to gardens, but they just moved to a different house and Mom and Dad have not had time to put in a large garden yet. Sent them home with eggs and nectarines. It was kind of fun to have kids around, but as old settled-in empty nesters, also nice to have them go home. One does get used to the quiet in older age!

I'm frustrated as I want to get going, but can't leave the house. That's how it is though so I just have to accept that today, again, this stupid disease has the upper hand.

I need to call my DD. As it turns out she does have Lyme Disease. What a mess. She finally got to a doc who is very well versed in it. They did bloodwork, that got sent to a special lab somewhere, where they can isolate better which Lyme she has. Apparently there are hundreds of variations. She has been on antibiotics for weeks and weeks, but it's time to go on to the next antibiotic and it may be that she has to wear one as an IV. I'm very worried for her.

Well, I think I'll just sit for a bit and read a magazine!

Homesteader what kind of disease do you have? Sounds somewhat like me. Mine sounds similar. Sometimes I want to leave home but can't.

Homesteader and Nancy- the Peoples Pharmacy has reported some people get relief from the diarrhea that accompanies IBS by eating 1-2 coconut macaroons daily. Just saying, if you're not ellergic to coconut, might be worth a shot.
Tuesday I rode along with GFB to court- a little over an hour, and then started to drive to Walmart after dropping him off. Got the plinky plinky noise on my semi smart phone means a text- usually I drive to where ever I'm going before looking at texts but this one, for some reason I pulled over and looked at. GFB had sent to me that he was at the wrong courthouse! I was back within 2 minutes to pick him up. He has been having very active bowels, as have I- yesterday was a BRTT dinner- bananas, rice, MAC N CHEESE, and tea- the mac n cheese is usually not part of the BRTT diet as the fat component can worsen cramps- but we weren't cramping-just in and out of the one bathroommost of Monday and Tuesday evenings. Rode with GFB today to the Okeechobee courthouse, washed the car and then drove around Okeechobee- discovered that most of the development in Okeechobee actually lies north of SR70. Very interesting. Tmorrow will pack up and leave for Greenville, SC to see DD and family Will be slashing open a 16 lb bag of dry cat food for the ferals before leaving. Our 3 of course are going with us.

Homesteader and Nancy,I feel for you about not being able to leave the house when you want to go places.I have IBS plus Fibro.Have been laying down a lot since Sunday, cramps sick etc.Nothing stayed with me.Well anyway our daughter insisted I'll get checked to see if I am Gluten intolerant (celiac). She tells me that all my symptoms point to it.She has been telling me that for a long time but I kept saying since I love bread ,cake and everything wheat connected ,I can't be without it .But the last few days changed my mind! I am also terrible allergic to MSG and other preservatives.Makes it really hard to eat out and not get sick as a dog.
So ,next week I'll see the Doctor and hopefully he will agree to the blood test.

I am finally totally out of time to prepare for a trip of a lifetime. I go to england in two days to hike the coast to coast trail. I have hiked about twenty miles all flipping summer. Now starting Monday I will average fourteen a day for two weeks straight. Goodbye cruel world.....my own fault of course. We have been so busy this year. Major fire at my boyfriends business last year makes this summer the rebuild. Chaos to do that plus run what is left of the original business. I pretend I am not involved... As I am not married to either him or the business. But truth is that business consumes us both at all times. I must say I feel a little guilty sneaking off like this...but gotta live before I die. Hope everyone has good fortune while I am gone. Love reading about peoples lives. Sometimes I get pretty lonely.

Oh my, last day of July and how it has flown by. August is such a busy month. School starting back, trying to get back in the routine. Getting things ready for the changing seasons. My July was spent on crutches with my broke ankle. I go to the Doc.on the eighth and how it is healed. Two months. They did a test on my bones and I was borderline osteo so vitamin d and calcium. Hope it strengthens my bones. Everyone have a good nite and see y'all next month. Loll.

I put up the 8/1 daily journal but y'all are on your honor not to post till 8/1 actually happens.
Not Wyse, hope you post about your hike. It sounds terrific!
LOTS of drama about GFBS work before we could get on the road. Yesterday and the day priors rains had split neatly around our place- 1/2 mile to the north, 1/2 mile to the south. I went and watered while he was attempting to deal with attornies giving out his private cell phone number and legal secretaries wwho claim they faxed him stuff (but couldn't have).
Anyway, greetings from Valdosta GA!
