Thanks for the thoughts guys!

Not much going on here. My tomato plant has a couple blooms and is growing like a weed, as is my zue plants. Hoping to have a decent harvest this year, even if just those two veggies!

2.6 inches of rain inside the last 11 hours. And wind. Oh the wind. Only lost one smaller diameter walnut branch but my garden took a minor beating. Most of the sweet corn has a good lean to it with a few plants almost completely laid over and the beans are pushed over too. The corn is/was about rib high. Please tell me it'll bounce back. Please? Lol

Oh yeah! Forecast calls for three more days of rain! Could see another 3 to five inches! Means my grass is going to grow like crazy again. *grumble grumble*

Youngest daughter and her husband are on their way to my Montana cabin for a week. They brought their two little dogs over last night for us to watch. When they get back, they will get their dogs and the wife and I, along with two grand kids and our dog will leave for the cabin. Had to order rebuild kits for our sewer pumps this morning. I had one in the shop with broken diaphams, now the one we were usuing broke. My son's is also out, so I ordered three kits. The wife vac the RV. All it needs now is loading up with stuff. I am going to mow grass and then finish cutting up the logs into lumber. I am making chicken salad right now, as the wife is at the store. I have a granddaughter here. She is watching cartoons as she plays with Legos. You all stay busy!!

I took the two littlest fur-babies in for their annual shots & worming this morning. No heartworms or parasites, which is good. I asked for Trifexus, which is a heartworm, tick & fleat prevention - he gave me one dose for each and told me we need to see how they tolerate it.
The long-haired chihuahua is really sore, she yelped when I picked her up. It was an expensive morning!!

I started in to work, after that, then stopped at the Thrift store first.
I found an old metal head & foot board I'm going to paint and use for the middle bedroom for $15!!! It's currently painted, but I want to paint it to match the room colors. It's so pretty!! There's metal lattice work with the prettiest little raised flower basket in the middle. I was thrilled to find it!
I bought a few more things I'd been watching for and ended up spending about $40.
The bedframe was too big to fit in the trunk and shut it. I got the footboard inside the car, so I went over to Harbor Freight (next door) and bought a bungee cord and secured the headboard inside the trunk - it stuck out bout a foot or so. I took it back home and unloaded everything, then ate lunch and came on in to work.
Even though I spent alot of money this morning, I consider it a good day!

Now I need to head home and get some work done around the house this evening.

Have a great evening, everyone!

Well it did not last!! The a/c is out again. Bill is not home from work yet so he doesn't know about it.

Woke up to rain this morning, rained all morning, then strong winds that brought down small branches here and there, and now is sunny and stuffy. Had to go the fabric store this morning to get purple thread, ran out last night while quilting some fabric. Stopped at Aldi since it was only a couple miles from the fabric store, then Home Depot for a few things. Stopped at one thrift store and found another file cabinet (4 drawer) for my garden. Ran into my ex mil there and another friend from the church we used to attend. Chatted a bit and then off to make an appt to get my hair cut, not busy, said they could do it now. Got about 4-5" cut off. While there my cousin came in to get her hair cut!! Can never catch her at home so we chatted and got caught up.

Having breakfast for dinner and guess I will start another shawl on my loom since it is downstairs, cooler then being upstairs in the attic where my sewing room is with no a/c!!

We are 10 miles north of Blair, NE where the big hail storm did enormous damage. Praising God all we got was 2" of rain, some wind and some downed tree limbs. Our son lives in Blair and he had a ton of damage to his house and camper. My DH works in Blair and was there when the storm went through. Totaled his van so he's been driving my vehicle all week. Last night he covered the van windows so he could drive it anyway and let me take my car into town to get feed and groceries. It's been quite the week with cleaning up.

I do get concerned about all our cyber buddies who may be in harms way. Hail is no laughing matter. I was in my first hailstorm at age 17- Never will forget that ominous dark green atmosphere that preceded it. Fortunately I was able to pull into one of those carhop places with covered parking- am I showing my age here?? I did see many cars with bad dents and even shattered windshields on the way home. That's one reason I keep "comprehensive" insurance on the cars long after dropping the collision as they age- it covers fire, flood, and hail.
Been sick as dog for a couple days. Spent almost 2 hours in the bathroom puking. Unfortunately, that's how the worst asthma presents. One reason it never occurred to me all these years that I had asthma- I thought it was a weak stomach. Should've known that if I could eat Boy Scout's cooking, and cooking by a resentful girl teenager who wanted to get out of chores so she did her best to make inedible dinners, that a weak stomach was not exactly my problem.
Between GFB;s work, and his and my illnesses we spent all week in the city and just got back out to the country. I couldn't even work in the garden till 8 a.m. this morning, the heat (and illness) made me dizzy. But all the tubs have been watered prior to leaving. I mulched the pigeon peas out on the swale between road and sidewalk a couple weeks ago, after .they stopped growing. The "dirt" is nothing but pure sugar sand. First I gave a couple trowels manure around each, then wood chips. I think they have grown a little since then.
GFB has been very good about taking care of me, it's funny that I am 64 years old and still expect to get met with the accusations of malingering my parents and ex-husband used to throw at me whenever I got sick.

I texted my son in law about a date convenient for them for me driving up to deliver a bit of stuff for DGS dorm room and could I bunk on their couch overnite. Been a lot of posts on FB from him about how well his job is doing and how much he enjoys acting (what he does on nights and weekends) etc. etc. Got a text back that this was a very bad time and they couldn't host me. Last fall and winter I stayed at a state park in a tent while visiting, but kept losing the integrity on my airmattress and having to buy new, and then wound up staying with DD's best friend since elementary school, whom they followed up to South Carolina- when we had a couple nights hard rain. I brought breakfast stuff with me to the best friends and took DD+family to dinner every night- I thought we had a good visit. Meanwhile, I have large unwieldy, rolling underbed storage, counterpanes, tripod 4 armed hanger pole, blankets, folding hampers, etc. etc. and am not sure when I can deliver to DGS. And I'm starting to think maybe the problem is not that my daughter has panic attacks around me, but that Son in law doesn't want me there. My gut is telling me that there is more to this...
During the hot part of the day this weekend I'll be setting up tours for when DGS and I are in DC in July. I have the Nat Geo Guidebook to DC and it has been a hundred times more helpful than Fodors.
Everyone stay safe.

I must have lent my live trap to someone, but can't remember who. So my neighbor lent me hers. Unfortunately we found out this morning why it hasn't caught anything: the ducklings were hiding in a corner of their 3-sided shelter and there was a hawk sitting on top! I have some plastic chicken fencing on a roll, and maybe we can spread that over some of their area so they have more protection. These are supposed to be my egg layers this coming year, and I don't want to lose any more.

Everything got watered today. What a job! My son is coming tomorrow to hook up our gas-powered irrigation pump and set up sprinklers and drips in various places. We have 2 year-around irrigation creeks so plenty of water, just not where it's needed.

We had old rooster & home made noodles and fresh peapods for dinner, and the spinach is up and growing. Oh, and there's a walnut-sized green tomato out there! The weather is supposed to be sunny and dry for the 7-day forecast, so I'll be really glad of the irrigation.

Went up north to our lake house yesterday to cut grass, weed and dust inside and make certain every thing is ok.It be so nice if we could sell it .With all the work we have at home
it's a chore to go up there to keep the place looking nice.Grandson had fun fishing and even got a Bluegill we had to bring home for his pond .Stopped at a couple good garage sales, he was a happy shopper buying all his white elephant gifts for Christmas. So , since the boys are done I'll just have to take granddaughter on her shopping expedition.
Today our daughter and I went on our last Fiber Festival for the year. What a nice day,got some beautiful gifts and fiber for me to make things with.
After our lunch we were lucky and found a few garage sales on the way home.Daughter is not a fan of those, but managed to find a few things. But it's amazing what some people try to sell!
So now it's time to go out and eat ,since poor hubby stayed home and worked in the yard, his choice.Don't know why he is not as enthused about our Fiber festival outings as we are

Thursday morning went down to the Social Security office to get a replacement social security card. Found out I was not a citizen!! I was born in Berlin, when my father was in the army there. I was born in a U.S. military hospital. I have three birth certificates. My dad got me a card when I was 13. Now to get a replacement, I need to prove I am a citizen. I did not bring my birth certificates with me. I am going to, but two of them are in german. I also found out, I could not get any benefits till I prove I am a citizen. I should have requested all the money I have paid in to social security back!! It will get straighten out, but it is just crazy. Went to leave the office and there was a guy shot in the parking lot. Police were everywhere. Its what you have to deal with in Baton Rouge. I then got home and mowed grass and cut up the logs. I did finish cutting the logs into lumber last night and took the lumber to dad's house today. I am now at work for my three night run. Then it is off to Montana for a month. Time for more coffee.

Wow Travis, that was a rather nasty surprise! Hope you get that straightened out quickly. Hope you have a great time in Montana. DH and I loved it up there on our vacation.
Well, I have finally gotten some relief from my hands. I went to bed fine one night and the next day I woke up with severe tendon pain in my hands and hips. Crazy. I tried to be bull headed and determined, but the pain just finally got the best of me. So now I am on Prednasone (sp) and it is amazing. I got to work in my garden and get some weeding done. I still need DH to run my little tiller down the ditch so I can build it back up again. It is a challenge to water with a 2 1/2 inch fire hose! At least my tomato plants are looking really nice and have blooms and a tomato on. Oh boy, oh boy, can't wait! Five yellow squash plants are up and I have all of 7 okra plants. I haven't decided if I will plant more okra or not. It is hotter than, well you can just guess how hot it is out here. 110 the other day. Yucko! I just wish some of those rain clouds would come over here and just dump rain on us! Glad to see that everyone is so busy. GMB, I hope you are over that mess and on the mend! I had better stop typing now or my hands will look like claws, again.

I weighted 3 pounds when I was born. Seven weeks after getting out of the hospital, my mother and I flew to the U.S. My mother is FULL blooded German.

Travis, sorry for your delay at SS. What an interesting start to your life, though! Glad you survived and enjoy your month in Montana.

GMB, glad you are on the mend, finally, and glad you have a loving partner. I thank God for mine every day too. Sorry your SIL is giving you the cold shoulder, with all you are doing for DGS. Try not to take it too personally, as it likely has more to do with him than you. Is he married to the bad cook? Maybe HE has indigestion now! Glad you decided to retire, and likely the inflammation in your body is on the mend now that stress levels are subsiding. Don't let DD and SIL get them riled up again! And have a wonderful time in DC. Love the museums, but hate the traffic!

On call this weekend, but got to mow the orchard and move baby birds yesterday, with a lot of help from DH. The goslings are hilarious to watch, and those big babies have the ducks on their toes now. Hogging the kiddie pool in their enclosure, then stretching out for a nap, always in a pile together. Looking forward to watering this morning; may just put my headlamp on and go on out while it is cool. Hoping for some rain today as well. Have a blessed Sunday, everyone!

Wow, Travis. I think it's all the security we're concerned about now that makes things so difficult for normal, law abiding folks to do these things! I have to tell you, it took five trips to just get my Mama a Colorado ID card when she first moved here! Every time they would tell us go to a different place, or bring one more form of ID, etc. She was at the end of her rope. We almost didn't get it the last time because her SS card or something had her middle name as J instead of spelled out! Luckily the woman in the driver's license office agreed it was her and let it slide. All because her former ID was from Utah, where the requirments are different, more lax than here. Would have been the same if she were turning in a driver's license to get an ID! Now come on, the woman was 90 at that time, and not the least like a terrorist!

Lost our phone service in an electrical storm on Saturday morning, so my son is driving down from Denver--80 miles--to rewire the house for me today. I'm so grateful to have him, and will reward him with food and some gas money at the very least for doing this. Now to clear a path for the wiring in the basement...UGH.

GMB, Sorry about the 'kids' making your life miserable when all you're trying to do is do something nice for the gd. Maybe there is something else going on. Who knows. Tread lightly and hope it all gets figured out.

Wow, Travis! What a day at the SS office. I hope you can get it cleared up soon. Have fun in Montana!!

I hope all of you suffering illness and pain get to feeling better soon.
I've been having issues with my left arm and congestion/asthma problems, but I slept well last night and I'm feeling pretty good today. I plan to take advantage of it and get some housework done today.
DH has to work and I finally have a Sunday to myself here at the house.

I spent the night at DD's Friday evening, as she had a date. I got up early Saturday morning and drove home, got ready and went to church, then went to the grocers to get a few things we were out of.

I managed to get the kitchen cleaned, then made potato salad and baked some BBQ chicken for dinner. Thankfully we have plenty of leftovers, so no cooking for me tonight!
I watched the Belmont race. I was hoping they'd finally get a triple crown winner, but it sounds like California Chrome got injured early on. Too bad, I like the owners, they just seem so down to earth.

It's been raining off and on since Friday - thank the Lord!! I think we've gotten about 3-4" so far over most of the state, so this one may have been a drought buster. It's supposed to rain most of today too. Good thing DH mowed last Monday.

William (our neighbor) got our oak tree, out by the gate, trimmed up really good. Now the propane and garbage trucks won't have such an issue getting in the driveway. I had him start taking out the cedar trees too. Those things are nothing but fuel for wildfires.

I have a family reunion next Saturday, so I need to plan what I'm going to take.
Well, I best get busy and not waste my energy today.
Have a GREAT SUNDAY, everyone!!

What a day! Had a hard time getting ready for church as my hand was swollen and very sore. Oh well, gotta keep moving! We covered the parking lot for another couple that took off and had a good time walking around the church in the cool morning breeze. Sure was hoping it would rain. The garden has nice deep ditches again. DH got all the weeds tilled and cut with the big mowers. So I raked and rebuilt. So I hope we are set for the rest of the season. These are really deep!
I am doing some more laundry and DH helped me flip the bed. That fancy dust ruffle thing is just asking for it. I think I will set it up again and sew an old flat sheet to the underside. It fits too big, or at least I think it does. Who ever thought of putting silky fabric on something that goes between the mattress and box spring? Every time DH gets in bed we end up sliding sideways. And just think what happens when the 41 pound dog dives up there after a squeaky toy!! At least I feel like working on it!
Too bad the doctor can't just keep me on the Preds. I can't believe how much better I feel right now. If only my hands could keep up with my new energy level, I could have finished painting the trim around outside of the house. Yes, my doctor frowned at me for that idea and told my a very resounding "NO"
Well, we have parking lot duty this evening, so I had better get things ready. Love hearing about all of the things going on!

Woke up around 1:30 PM. The wife had found some papers filled out by the American Consulate showing me as a U.S citizen. So, all I need to do is bring this with me the next time I go to the social security office. I will do this after my Montana trip. Just got to work and starting on the coffee. All is good!!

Well, I'm getting over my grief of losing my friend. It has been hard to think about, but not quite as bad today. In time it will heal, but I'm more than sure it will be hard for her children to not have her around. She had an AVM.

Looking at my tomato plant, I have one small one! Three nice sized blooms. I'm still going to try to buy some reduced priced tomato plants from work. Just haven't gotten around to it, because I have had donut days at work. Sold 1300 donuts on Friday, and no telling how mny on saturday! Had a great couple days of sales.
