I can knit but I'm lousy at reading patterns. I'd like to learn to use a sewing machine properly and to spin. Basket making would be nice too. I can crochet but like the knitting I'm not good reading patterns.

I would like be able to play an instrument. The dulcimer has been one of my favorites for a long time but I would also like to play the piano. As for a craft I'd just like to get better at the crafts I can do at least some.....crochet, quilting, soap making, knitting, and sewing clothes.

It's not about moving mountains but about digging the ground that you're on.

I would rather be a "has been" than a "never was."

I set my goal for this winter to learn to knit. It took me a couple months to finally stop just tying string in knots! I've finally figured it out, and while I'm not GOOD at it yet, I can do it. My sister is going to help me while she's in town, so that should be helpful.

I'd love to learn to tat - my mother made the most beautiful lace edgings for pillowcases and such. I have her shuttle, but she didn't live long enough for me to be smart enough to know I should have her teach me all she knew.

I am determined to learn to knit, make soap, and make slipcovers this winter. I've been thinking about it long enough and will start right after the new year.

I have a ton of craft supplies from over the years - beads, paint, dollhouse, paint-faux stained glass, drawing, watercolors, etc... Now that we are homesteaders, my interests have moved to more practical things - I make soap, am practicing sewing and hope to make a quilt, attempting crocheting (hurts my hands!), spinning, and more... I have a young daughter, so a lot of my old stuff will come in handy for her for crafty hands.

If money were no object AND I had tons of space, I would have a full sized spinning wheel, a loom, and a ceramics kiln! Who knows? I love making things, it's such a creative joy and accomplishment to do something yourself and be connected to the process. I make soap that uses lard that I hand rendered from pigs we raised, and I feel like I just invented it, lol! Poof!

Oh, Lord. What do I not think sounds interesting? I'm quite skilled at knitting, crocheting, embroidery & cross-stitch, patchwork, rug-hooking. As a girl I sewed a lot of my clothes. I've lost patience with the things that take long for "limited" results. Hooking rugs feels like that to me, and so does sewing garments. I bought a lot of stuff to make jewelry and many fancy yarns right after I retired from public school, but haven't made use of those. I thought I'd have time on my hands... I enjoy gardening very much. Keep thinking flowers, keep planting vegetables. I have a nine-patch done as far as all the blocks done and solid ones to go between cut, but it's been years. That I may assemble this winter since I have a place now to put the machine up and leave it. I'm a professional musician, so making practice time is always on the plate, though adding many more instruments shouldn't be. For sure I am not finishing Dad's model planes, or taking up reloading or wood-carving

So, maybe next winter I'll get to pick something else from my list and learn that too.
Yeah I love playing the guitar, too. I have 3 right now. I use mine as an accompaniment to my Singing. I love doing both, the Singing and the guitar playing.
I I can also play Harmonica along with my guitar.
I guess Music is my Favorite Craft

Quilting...one of these days I will have the time to explore that. For now I just have to be happy with the skills I do have time to exercise I really need to get back with my banjo...I did spend a quality week with it about 3 months ago. First time we had "played together" in years, lol.

Gunsmithing, when time allows I get to work with a couple of excellent Smith's, that have been in the business for many years.

So many wishes, so little time. I already knit pretty well, I make soap and toiletries (just for home now but I used to sell) I dabbled in cross stitch & crochet but didn't fall in love with either.. I do some beading and jewelry making.

I want to learn to shuttle tat, and would LOVE to learn how to do shuttle lace-weaving. I would love to learn to make metal jewelery of all types but mostly the casting methods. I would like to improve my beading skills particularly the french beading for flowers and such. I would like to learn how to design and write my own knitting patterns. I have the basics but it is slow going. It would be lovely to spend some time with an expert. I love lace shawl designs and if I ever master the design thing that is where my heart lies.

I am sure I could go on and on but I think that I have already taken up a couple of lifetimes right there

Mary

I live in Ohio. I am happy to teach quilting, candlemaking, soapmaking, embroidery, etc. Hubs knows how to make stained glass, blacksmith, woodwork.... We love spending time honing our skills and teaching. My point here is--take the time for yourself to learn and practice what YOU want. Life is too short to have a wannado list. Make it an "I can do" list.
