Sniffed at the hardware store

Went to the local hardware store in town. Paying for my purchases whentwo men in another line start talking. Hey what is that smell? I smelled it when I was walking behind those women but it is not them. I looked at the cahier and said it's me. She looked confused. WHAT. I said they are sniffing me. :hrm: The one man looked at me, payed and took off. The other man wanted to know what I was wearing. Nothing, my DW makes soap. Handed him a card and he called DW. He said I just do not go into places and ask men what they are wearing but I asked your husband if he could tell me what he was wearing. I have to deliver some bars to him tomorrow. I am getting sniffed alot here recently. I guess it is not as embarassing as when the stud detectors go off.:tmi::smack Dixie Flower All Natural Soap Company :: All Natural Soaps

I'm curious, which scent of your wife's homemade soap was he so enamored with? :)

I thought you had stepped in something on the farm!!! :-)

I didn't know what to expect when I clicked in on the thread, but I like your little ad at the end. I had some manly smelling homemade soap that I got from a nearby tourist town. Unfortunately it's too far of a drive to not go for the day and they were out of that one last tike I was there.

I have no idea why I have not clicked on the link in your signature before. I can't wait to get moved and get some ordered. I used to use wen conditioning shampoo, but when finances got tight I had to stop. It's really expensive. I am moving to a place where my living expenses will be cut by more than half (and no mortgage!) so was planning to start getting the wen again. Think I would rather try your wife's products first. I would rather an HT member get my money than strangers!
Thanks for bringing attention to her products!

My cousin used to have that happen when he wore the barn jacket in town...

(Somebody explain to the newbies what a barn jacket is)

I didn't know what to expect either.

My first guess was that you had come straight from the billy goat pen after they loved all over you and you then went to the hardware store!

Glad it was a GOOD smell!

houndlover 11/14/12 03:11 PM

Same thing happened to me the other day, well, the part about being sniffed.

Buck goat.

Trust me, this time of year, all you have to do is walk by the pen, you don't have to make physical contact.

I played it cool, looked around and said "ick, what's that smell?"

The sent is patchouli. This is not the first time I have been sniffed. When I was taking a horticulture class at University of Arkansas a man walked up behind me and another student and asked which one of you have on that marvolus sent. We became friends and he now grows Royal Velvet lavender we bought from the same grower in Washington state. She does make shampoo bars but I have not been sniffed for that yet.

Over the last month I have been sniffed twice. First I was at Home Depot and this guy walked up, He said, "I am not gay, but what is that colongue(sp) you wearing?". I told him I did not recall, but my daughters buy a lot of it for me after x-mas every year, when it is on sell. I went home and looked up the name. About a week later, the wife and I were at the restaurant and the waiter ask, "What is that colongue you have on"? My wife said it was me. I told him it was "LUCKY YOU" by Liz Claiborne.

I thought you were a girl at first. Lol. I used to have guys behind me in line sniff my hair (creepy) so I thought that's what your post was about.

Seems almost like an oxymoron here? If the soap leaves a manly smell... why bother to bathe?!?! ;)

Thanks, Big Dave

for mentioning Royal Velvet lavender. Just got a copy of The Lavender Lover's Handbook from Timberland Press and they note it's one of the best cold-weather lavenders - High Country Gardens touts L. xintermedia "Grosso". I would have never guessed.

Reminds me of the time I went through the McDonalds drive through with a friend, in her truck. The young girl at the window leaned in and innocently asked if she had a horse cause she smelled like (that S word for horse poop).

Oh my goodness....my mind went someplace totally different. I was expecting you to have found someone smoking "wacky tobaccy"

This had a woodsy smell to it. I actually didnt mind this one.

salmonslayer 11/14/12 11:01 PM

I usually smell like wood smoke, sweat, diesel fuel and cow manure and probably get sniffed a lot too ...not to mention we had sour kraut last night.

CJBegins 11/15/12 07:06 AM

I thought they had drug dogs at the hardware.....LOL

Patchouli is one scent that I can handle.

Usingmyrights 11/15/12 08:17 AM

I'd sniff the heck out of a man wearing Hoppes #9.
