Jer 24.6-7... I pray verse 7 and remind God that he promised to give me a heart that would KNOW Him.
Ezek 15.6-16-- I love the fact that Jesus spoke Life over me. He clothed me with His own garments and shod me with his gospel.
1 Chron 15.8-16.36 and 2 Sam 6 are two of my favorite passages. It shows how we are to act in the very presence of God. It shows that we are to rejoice with all our might and praise Him with everything that is within us.
Eph is my favorite book followed by Colossians.
I also love it near the end of Job where God speaks. I read that so often.Job 38-41.
The verse I quote most often is actually that "a mans gift makes room for him and brings him before great men" Prov 18.16 I have the gift of the Holy Spirit of the Most High God. It makes room for me. I don't have to worry, fret, walk in fear or even stress over anything. The gift makes room for me.

Hosea 2:19-20
“I will betroth you to Me forever;
Yes, I will betroth you to Me
In righteousness and justice,
In lovingkindness and mercy;
I will betroth you to Me in faithfulness,
And you shall know the Lord.

The reason for that is because it has special meaning to me. When I was a teen I was going through a really hard time in my walk with God. I was severely depressed and I just couldn't believe that God would want me ever if at all. I was reading my bible just kind of flipping through it actually when I came across the book of Hosea. I remember a friend told me kind of the background story about it and so I started reading it.

When I got to Hosea 2:19-20 God spoke those very words to my heart. He promised me that He will betroth me to him forever...yes little old me. I broke down in tears right then and there. So this one will forever have a special meaning in my heart. I want in engraved in the wedding rings if I ever get married. It will have a two fold meaning then, God's promise to us and me and my husband's promise to each other.

Okay enough rambling .

Isaiah 43:18-19

Forget the former things.
Do not dwell on the past.
See, I Am doing a new thing.
Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?
I Am making a way in the desert, and streams in the wasteland.

Deut. 31:6
Be strong and courageous
Do not be afraid or terrified because of them,
for the Lord your God goes with you.
He will never leave you, nor forsake you.

Psalm 139

I have found that with each passing year, some verses that used to have meaning have taken a back seat to brand new favorites. Still, Hebrews 8:10-12 both makes me SHOUT!! and cry at the same time.

Ecclesiastes 2:24 There is nothing better for a man, than that he should eat and drink, and that he should make his soul enjoy good in his labour. This also I saw, that it was from the hand of God.

Ecc 3:11 He hath made every thing beautiful in his time: also he hath set the world in their heart, so that no man can find out the work that God maketh from the beginning to the end. I know that there is no good in them, but for a man to rejoice, and to do good in his life. And also that every man should eat and drink, and enjoy the good of all his labour, it is the gift of God. "

Ecc 8:15 Then I commended mirth, because a man hath no better thing under the sun, than to eat, and to drink, and to be merry: for that shall abide with him of his labour the days of his life, which God giveth him under the sun.

Ecc 9:7 Go thy way, eat thy bread with joy, and drink thy wine with a merry heart; for God now accepteth thy works. Let thy garments be always white; and let thy head lack no ointment. Live joyfully with the wife whom thou lovest all the days of the life of thy vanity, which he hath given thee under the sun, all the days of thy vanity: for that is thy portion in this life, and in thy labour which thou takest under the sun. Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest.

Ecc 10:19 A feast is made for laughter, and wine maketh merry: but money answereth all things.

Proverbs 31:6 Give strong drink unto him that is ready to perish, and wine unto those that be of heavy hearts.

Psalm 104:1 Bless the LORD, O my soul. O LORD my God, thou art very great; thou art clothed with honour and majesty.
:2 Who coverest thyself with light as with a garment: who stretchest out the heavens like a curtain:
:3 Who ...
:13 He ...
:14 He causeth the grass to grow for the cattle, and herb for the service of man: that he may bring forth food out of the earth;
:15 And wine that maketh glad the heart of man, and oil to make his face to shine, and bread which strengtheneth man's heart."

And in the context of 'tithing':
Deuteronomy 14:26 You may spend the money for whatever your heart desires: for oxen, or sheep, or wine, or strong drink, or whatever your heart desires; and there you shall eat in the presence of the LORD your God and rejoice, you and your household.

Same here. I couldn't have been more lukewarm. I don't know if it has anything to do with creeping up on 50, but I just don't care what anyone thinks about me anymore.

Be generous in prosperity, and thankful in adversity.
Be worthy of the trust of thy neighbor, and look upon him with a bright and friendly face.
Be a treasure to the poor, an admonisher to the rich, an answerer of the cry of the needy, a preserver of the sanctity of thy pledge.
Be fair in thy judgment, and guarded in thy speech.
Be unjust to no man, and show all meekness to all men.
Be as a lamp unto them that walk in darkness, a joy to the sorrowful, a sea for the thirsty, a haven for the distressed, an upholder and defender of the victim of oppression.
Let integrity and uprightness distinguish all thine acts.
Be a home for the stranger, a balm to the suffering, a tower of strength for the fugitive.
Be eyes to the blind, and a guiding light unto the feet of the erring.
Be an ornament to the countenance of truth, a crown to the brow of fidelity, a pillar of the temple of righteousness, a breath of life to the body of mankind, an ensign of the hosts of justice, a luminary above the horizon of virtue, a dew to the soil of the human heart, an ark on the ocean of knowledge, a sun in the heaven of bounty, a gem on the diadem of wisdom, a shining light in the firmament of thy generation, a fruit upon the tree of humility.

I would love to agree with you "sonshine", but we all end up walking the path God has layed in front of us,,, sometimes , that may be in the desert.
I can't remember exactly,,, how many years was Moses in the desert? Prior to God asking him to lead His people?
I mention this because I pretty much walk alone, and really not by choice,,,but I love God so much it hurts sometimes.

The real Lord's Prayer, John 17. I can't read it aloud without weeping. It keeps me humble to know he loved me, and prayed for me. If he is for me...

Romans 8:28 It was shown/given to me when I was 14. I've clung to that verse all my life. "And we know that all things work together for them that love God, to them who are called according to His purpose."

Hi. Never introduced myself here but I find many of the topics in this forum very informative and engaging. This one is especially. I don't think this in the Bible, but my favorite prayer has to be by Reinhold Niebuhr.

God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
Courage to change the things I can,
And wisdom to know the difference.

I've paraphrased it and added it to my own daily reconfirmation.

Vicker and Marshloft, I'm looking in my King James version of Scriptures and apparently I'm looking in the wrong place.

You stated "John 17" as being "...the real Lord's prayer..."

I found John 2:17, John 3:17, John 4:17 and John 5:17 and do not understand how those verses relate to what might be the Lord's prayer. (I do not find a chapter 17 anywhere in the books of John.)

Can you please tell me where to find that Scripture?

Oh, also, in my post on page one there was an error. I tried to correct it. Spent over half an hour trying to edit first that post of mine, then the following post of mine and each time was not able to...only saw where a "fleetwood.com" was trying to load.

The error was where I stated my life was saved in 1992. It was not 1992. It was in 1972.

The 17th chapter of John is of Jesus praying to his Father concerning his followers.
ETA: It is best when taken in context with John 16.

I heard it preached:

Moses spent 40 years 'thinking he was someone'
only to spend the next 40 years finding out 'he's no one'
then proving for the next 40 years, God can take a no one, and turn them into someone!!

Bible Study Fellowship does in in depth study of the life of Moses. I have done it twice, and it is one of my favorites!!

For those who can not find it:
John 17
Joh 17:1 These words spake Jesus, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour is come; glorify thy Son, that thy Son also may glorify thee:
Joh 17:2 As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him.
Joh 17:3 And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.
Joh 17:4 I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do.
Joh 17:5 And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was.
Joh 17:6 I have manifested thy name unto the men which thou gavest me out of the world: thine they were, and thou gavest them me; and they have kept thy word.
Joh 17:7 Now they have known that all things whatsoever thou hast given me are of thee.
Joh 17:8 For I have given unto them the words which thou gavest me; and they have received them, and have known surely that I came out from thee, and they have believed that thou didst send me.
Joh 17:9 I pray for them: I pray not for the world, but for them which thou hast given me; for they are thine.
Joh 17:10 And all mine are thine, and thine are mine; and I am glorified in them.
Joh 17:11 And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are.
Joh 17:12 While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name: those that thou gavest me I have kept, and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition; that the scripture might be fulfilled.
Joh 17:13 And now come I to thee; and these things I speak in the world, that they might have my joy fulfilled in themselves.
Joh 17:14 I have given them thy word; and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.
Joh 17:15 I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil.
Joh 17:16 They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.
Joh 17:17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.
Joh 17:18 As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world.
Joh 17:19 And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth.
Joh 17:20 Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word;
Joh 17:21 That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.
Joh 17:22 And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one:
Joh 17:23 I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me.
Joh 17:24 Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me: for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world.
Joh 17:25 O righteous Father, the world hath not known thee: but I have known thee, and these have known that thou hast sent me.
Joh 17:26 And I have declared unto them thy name, and will declare it: that the love wherewith thou hast loved me may be in them, and I in them.

No one verse does not mean more than any other. However sometimes they speak to me more at that time and that place.
For example, until my cancer I had never been lead to study and pray on PS 121.

Now I hold to it every day.

For the one who liked Jesus wept, it is John 11:35

I have read other religious texts but the Bible was the only one that held water as my mom used to say. It gave me roots when I had none. I always say my guardians religion made 1 mistake with me, they taught me to study the scriptures for myself. Now I hold to them and all they have for me, so many things to learn I will never know or understand all of it this side of home, though the learning is making the journey more bearable!
