Terrific...so now I'm hungry for chili...
Let that be a lesson to some of you...You gotta be careful of the the thread you open in here...
So how do you like your chili? Plain? With cheese? With cheese and fritos? On a hotdog? So many things to do with that wonderful stuff...and if I gotta suffer, I'm taking a few of you with me!:bandwagon: <---And I'm not sure this smiley is relevant, but it looked fun and I needed a reason to use it. |
just a tad spicy with tons of melted cheddar on top! big slices of homemade bread on the side. Heaven.

Spicy with corn chips, cheese and sour cream.

Salad fixin's with chili on top instead of taco salad....James

*Chili on a hot dog with shredded cheddar, onions and lots of mustard.
*Chili smothered over macaroni noodles. |
Spicey--a big bowl with onions chopped on top & crackers. Chili dogs next with cheese on top.
I planned on one more huge pot before hot weather but it got hot too quick. Think I'll do it anyway. |
Cheese, onions, and homemade cornbread.
|
Take a layer of corn chips, top with lots of spicy chili, add some velveta/rotel, sour cream, and top with a sprinkling of jalopenos!!!

I know what I'm having for dinner tonight! |
I just made a HUGE pot of chili and one of marinara sauce. They are cooling, and I'll put the contents in small containers for the freezer. Yum for months.:)

My husband once made INCREDIBLE chili! He diced up a small roast and simmered it with the beans and the spices, and then he added diced onions and other vegetables to it and simmered it for a little longer: the vegetables still had some firmness.
It was awesome. |

BTW, I'm a wimp when it comes to spicy...can't do it...nope! |
bah! now I want some, lol
I like it with sour cream and cheese, fresh onion is nice.. If we have corn chips, I'll toss some of those in too. Also great on a baked potato :) |
The Chili Appreciation Society International specified in 1999 that, among other things, cooks are forbidden to include beans, marinate any meats, or discharge firearms in the preparation of chili for official competition.

spicy, in a bowl, onion and cornbread or tortillas on the side. NO BEANS!
Chili con carne is by definition chili peppers and beef. The canned stuff is what I put on hot dogs if I find out I have to eat one. This year I'm growing different varieties of peppers in hopes of developing my own chili powder blend. That will be lots of fun. Ed |
Over cornbread with sour cream and shredded cheese on top.
|
I use 5 or 6 different types of chilies making chili (dried, fresh, adobo) and there is nothing better than a big bowl with diced onions, shredded cheddar, and some fresh diced Jalapenos...accompanied by an iced brew of course.
Dang it..TriWrinkle you are now on my ignore list! |

I'm more of a sloppy joe, hotdog sauce kind of person. I don't like chili very much. I won't eat any with kidney beans in it. I do like pasta in it. I don't like tacos either. I try to limit the meat I eat because of following a diet for control of gout. What kind of salad and side dishes are you serving?
