lol - charmd2 - I was bundled in blankets last night in the family room, but the chimneys are not cleaned yet either (on the weekend to-do list) so he brought me another blanket!! We have a woodstove and a pellet stove, and I say "let the season begin"! I love being toasty warm!

we've had the stove going a couple times here and there when temps dipped. today is that windy, chilly weather a lot of folks are having. just walked dogs, and you need a coat on. that means I also filled the woodbox on the back porch, and I will light up the stove this afternoon. have some chicken noodle soup for today and plan to bake some cookies. it's dark outside, and I do mean dark! looks like night time, and that wind really is whipping. great day to stay snuggly.

Yup! Morning and evening, just to take the damp out of the air. The pets love it, and the people do to.

I hope Hubby starts it this afternoon when he gets home. He was planning to yesterday, but it was so rainy and windy, that he thought it might mess up the draft since the chimney wasn't hot yet. I wouldn't mind starting it on my own, but he likes to be here when we start it for the season.

It's SOOOO weird...I have always been a very hot person...don't like anything over 72 degrees. BUT I have been cold for the last couple of months. It's delightful! I can put on more clothes to be warmer, but I can't get any more naked than naked to get cooler. So, I'm looking very forward to thoroughly enjoying the wood heat this year.

I don't like to be negative, but if you haven't had bloodwork in some time you might want to check your iron levels and thyroid.

We have 2 woodstoves as our only heat source. We've built a fire in the living room a couple of evenings so far, but haven't started the big one during the day yet. We've been having cold mornings that turn into warmer sunny days, so it has kept us warm. I'm sure we'll be starting it soon, though.

I am in Louisiana, so it has not quite gotten cold enough yet, but the wood is split and stacked. The wood stove is winking and making sounds like it is ready for a fire, just waiting on the weather.

Red face

Travis, I feel your pain neighbor. I don't think I'd start just yet as we are exspected to get back to the upper 70's and 80's throughout the next ten days according the the NWS. I don't have a wood stove but I do have a wood burning fireplace and I'm just waiting to light it as well.

Speaking of which; do any of you have a problem with the heavy wood smoke smell throughout your homes when using the fireplace or stoves? It's not a backdraft because our house isn't smokey but the smell is unreal. When I visit friends that have fireplaces I don't notice that heavy smell like I do in my own home while using the fireplace. I don't have glass doors on mine but do the doors really make that big a difference. Mine is a heatilator.
