We were down to 2% on our rented 500ga tank so called them up the other day to come out & give us a fill. The summer special price was $2.71 <gulp> There went $1083.60 like a fart in the wind. Since we have a wood stove for the majority of our heat and only have the hot water heater & wall unit heater using LP, we MIGHT make it through 'til spring.

3.15/gal, but we just use it for hot water, so we pay more per gallon as a small user. In our area you cannot buy your own tank and shop around, the vendor supplies the tank and no one else will deliver to another vendors tank.

Southerners get worse deals from our utility companies.

We estimate that the new (refurbished) tank with the lower rate, will be paid for in three years with what we are saving.

At the beginning of summer were were paying $4.02..yes..$4.02 for propane gas. We only use it to heat hot water and to cook in the kitchen..Now last week we paid "only" $3.89.. Have been told the less you use the more it cost...so I guess if we used more it would cost less. If we got a huge tank instead of the cylinders we have we would pay less at the initial fill up but after that to top it off it would just as costly.

got filled up today for $2.89 a gallon, delivered. On a good note, my stove is almost a year old and saved us over 20 gallons from last years fill up.

Holy smokes...I was grumbling about how much we pay, but now I'm quite grateful!!

We just contracted 1200 gallons for winter at $1.87/gallon delivered. I don't remember what our summer fill cost though, but I think it was right around that price.

Not long ago, here in Fl., I talked a friend of mine into converting from LP heating to a heat pump. That was an instant savings of 60% for him. That INCLUDES having A/C , which he didn't even have , before. He converted his LP stove & hot water heater as well. Filling up a tank when LP is over $5/gal. is a ridiculous sum of money for a retired couple !

I filled up in June @ $2.25 per gallon but I am sure it will be higher for the winter. We just pay for it when we get it and there are no summer or winter special prices.

propane prices

I read here that propane inventories are below the five year average, so that will probably result in higher propane prices this fall

Here are 2 sites that can help you track the trend of propane prices

Mont Belvieu spot price

Propane prices
