Your belief that the curse works is their strength.

LOL! After all these years of being outspoken on the net and working in management (a bunch of it in south Florida), I stopped counting.

I'm reasonably smart. I know about stuff like statistical probability. I know a pretty fair amount about the rational world. I also know enough to know I don't know everything, and that science has a lot of theories that are accepted as fact just because of the lack of a better theory. I'm just tired of statistically improbable negative stuff happening over a few years. I am not going into detail, as that is beside the point.

As for the idea of believing making it so, if that is true, my mind has the power to break steel, cause electrons to flow backwards, and a few other things that it "shouldn't" be able to do. Y'all better be careful not to upset me once I get this monkey off my back.

A little story about the power of curses/voodoo/evil eyes.

About 7 yrs ago I started having choking spells; literally like someone had their hands around my neck. I put it off to age, health concerns such as a hiatal hernia, etc.
The doctors could find no reason for the intermittent choking attacks.
This continued for close to 2 yrs with the no rhyme or reason such as foods, environmental conditions, etc.

Everyone seemed to think I was making them up until the night I had one while totally alone in my house and woke up with finger marks on both sides of my neck! I called my kids and showed them the marks and they agreed, yup those are finger marks including what looked like thumbs on each side of the area where the Adams apple would lie.

I'll admit, that pretty much freaked me out. It was about 7 months later that I found out my husband who was living away from home due to his job had a girl friend who apparently had some metaphysical connections.
I found this out when an e-mail that was meant to go to her alone ended up going to 'reply all'.

A lot of reading/research took place including consulting people who understood such things, some major spiritual cleansing on my end & reversing the 'curse'. You know, the choking slowed down over the next few weeks and I haven't had another episode in years.

So although I don't think every time someone says they've cursed you is a time to worry, if you have an enemy you don't even know about and things start happening that could endanger your life, it's time to get serious and figure out how to stop the negative energy according to your own spiritual beliefs.

Completely agree that Jesus is the only answer to evil. I still have some questions though(because I am an extremely curious person). I was raised Lutheran and there isn't much in that denomination that had to do with spiritual warfare(at least at my church).

Do Christians do cleansing spells? Do Christians bless houses when they move into them to remove any lingering evil?

Sorry Harry, maybe this should be another thread but I figured you might have some answers on the topic as well.

Catholics do some very specific actions to eliminate bad forces, always invoking the action in Jesus's name.
Exorcisms aren't just movies, they are very real although not done as frequently as moviemakers would lead one to believe.

^^ what STG said ^^

The blessing of a home, however, is more than just "ridding it of lingering evil"... it's more of a spiritual claiming of the property as a house and home, a safe place for family and loved ones, not necessarily cleansing it of "evil"

When I went to a "retreat" for Lutheran kids in New Orleans of all places when I was 14, there was a pastor that gave a talk on getting rid of ghosts/demons out of some kids bunk beds...it had been on Unsolved Mysteries.

The real story of "the exorcist" was about a boy who was raised Lutheran. When the family called their pastor he told them to get a priest-he had no idea how to handle it.

There are only a handful of Catholic priests who are 'official' exorcists so I can just imagine that poor parish priests' 'deer in the headlights' reaction when called upon to perform one.

Have yourself and your house blessed by a priest.

Burn a chock of sage grass (it will be smoldering), walk throughout your house with the sage grass (drives away the evil/disagreeable spirits/atmosphere), then burn/smolder a braid of sweet grass throughout, same way. Native American cure.

I have, for many years had an interest in the Arcane, the Occult. It is not an evil thing. It is not a thing to fear, if you keep your wits about you, study what you are about and work carefully. And you need to work for the "Good of All".

I have never had a mishap. And, I have met some of the most Interesting people you could ever imagine.ETA... Most of them were "Ladies". 80% of those who "practice are Ladies.)
I had some excellent teachers. And I have collected a whole library of books. This is my 2nd collection. I sold and gave one collection away, nearly 30 years ago.

The whole thing has made my Life much more interesting than it would have been otherwise.

On the way to one of the first poultry swaps I ever went to a couple of years ago I stopped to fill the truck tank. The bed was full of cages of roosters and turkeys. An old work van pulled up at another pump and a couple of people got out. They immediately noticed the roosters as everyone does when the inevitably begin to crow.

They walked over and looked at them then started speaking among themselves. I recognized the language as Haitian Creole, but the only word I understood out of the exchange was "vodoun." The man then asked if I were selling the roosters? I said I was and he bought a red one. I asked him how he was going to eat the bird after they'd sacrificed it and he said they preferred them with rice and a vegetable that I did not understand, but I assumed was of the tropical variety.

Just another way to sell birds to me. As for someone trying to lay a hex or curse on me it's not my belief system. Ain't gonna work around here.

I've always enjoyed your posts and I think I like you even better now. I like that you don't dismiss the possibility of the spiritual world, despite your practical outlook on life.
I don't have any specific advice. In your place, I would consult my friends of friends who have dealt with a similar issue in the past. I don't know if you have anyone like that in your circle.

I'd probably have more than on somebody do a "treatment" to lower the chances of getting an ineffective... is "healer" the right word?
