I feel your pain Nickie - I have an hour commute each way too, but I'd still rather be cold than deal with the heat and humidity we've had this year.

Guess I 'll have to go cut a persimmon open and see what the seed predicts.

I'm in for a heap o' winter this year. Maybe even worse then last winter which was the worst winter EVER!!!

The first week has been HOT AND HUMID.

And I kid you not, it's been FOGGY every morning of August so far.
I'm just going to pretend I didn't read that.... cause it has been a foggy August... so yes, I am going to pretend I didn't read that, but I am going to start crocheting a scarf maybe.

This has been the hottest and most humid August that I can recall in a lifetime in Florida.

Last Saturday I went out at dawn to do the chores and it was 84 degrees and foggy.

Does this mean Florida is going to get its first ever blizzard?

That would suit me just fine. I like snow. I like staying home, snuggling in, eating soup, and just being confined, safe, and warm with no interruptions. I hope your weather prediction is right for my house.

The heat broke here the first week of August. No fog that I have seen (but I usually sleep till 9:00 am). It's been good sleeping weather lately, cool enough for a light blanket.

A couple mornings ago when I came home from work I could have sworn it was almost cold enough for a frost. Looked at the thermometer, it said 67*F!!!! LOL I was ready for a coat!

Well, we've had no fog for this later half of August except for one light misty day. So maybe that means only HALF of winter will be horrid?

Must be it's going to be a cold & snowy winter, I just ordered some wool blankets & socks!

A local weather man was interviewing a native American, who also said that it is going to be a cold winter with a lot of snow. When asked how he determined that, he replied that the white man had a large wood pile.......

LOL Yes, but the bad weather will just come every other week!

I seriously hope we don't get another bad winter, I felt like I would never be warm again after the last one! All the shovelling, and the commuting! Of course, all last winter I was living up in the cities for a job, and driving 100 miles on weekends to spend time with my husband. Won't have to do that this year, this year I can stay at home! And he only has a ten mile commute.

I've observed over 76 winters. The only old folk lore that holds water is the one that says,"It's colder in the winter than it is in the summer!" I've seen days when I wasn't really sure about that one. I live about 60 miles farther south than Nickie, and we usualy get about one forth as much snow as she does. You ever hear of Lake Affect snow"?
It's an ill wind that blows no good. Look at the benifit of being without a job. NO COMMUTE

Was it 2009 that Tampa had snow? or 2010?? Or 2008? Every year after 1977's snow is difficult to remember -1977's snow made it to the bahama.s
