Hey TNH, I hadn't thought of mixing the nuts and coke for a long time. Done at the same place too. If I had a nickel for a coke and another for a bag of Planters salted peanuts, they just had to go together. You swirled the last swig of coke around to make sure you got all of the nuts out of the bottle. Pretty hard to do with a can.

Gowing up we had a coke machine in our house with syrup and co2 tanks. Kinda crazy when I think back. I never thought twice about it at the time but my friends thought it was cool.

"Have a Coke and a smile" I remember that old add slogan.

I wish they would bring back the old glass bottles with the original formula.

I've seen the glass bottles and the real sugar type sold around here. Never liked coca cola thought.

I prefer diet pepsi when I have a pop or one of the home made bottles of pop (they have diffrent flavors) from the farm stand down the street. Haven't tried the homemade pops from the other farm jsut a littel further but I know they sell some too.

Actually I just saw one lone glass bottle of Coke made with real sugar sitting on top of the coke cooler at Big Lots the other day. I had to stop and pick it up to look at it, lol. No idea what it was doing there; didn't see anymore in the entire store.

I also remember juice being sold in small cartons from vending machines when I was a kid. The limeade was to die for, especially when it came out of the machine partially frozen like a slushy.

They're selling Pepsi Throwback (real sugar and the old Pepsi logo) around here in 12 ounce cans in those long cardboard 12 packs. I've got one in the pantry now and a cold can chilling in the refrigerator.

Wow! That takes me back. The new stuff just doesn't taste the same. I hope they keep selling it.

I have just about stopped drinking soft drinks except unsweet tea. As others have said, the coolers just keep them kind of cool instead of icy. Also have had so many diet drinks that nothing tastes good anymore. And I'm fatter than I was when I drank regular!!

When we were kids, we got a "coke' about once a week if we were lucky--used to get Double Cola because there was more in it. The old drink boxes kept them really cold. We liked the peanuts in it too. Also root beer float with root bear & vanilla ice cream.
