Flea market finds for the day(2 pics)
DH and I went up to the flea market in town to shop for my Mother's Day present. Now most of you are nodding your heads saying, "smart move" and most of my friends here will be whispering, "he's cheap!" LOL Anyway, these are two things I got from there and I'm super excited.
This is a non electric food processor that has been clamped to a board already. It lists in Lehman's catalog for $150.00. We got it for $15.00. http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g2...0504111928.jpg This is the Presto pressure cooker I found, gasket looks just fine. Got it for $4.75. http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g2...ire/presto.jpg Please excuse the dirty kitchen table I put them down and took the pics without wiping it off lol it has since been cleaned:) |
Great finds!! I love flea markets.
Nice finds! Hope they fill a space and serve you well.
Matt |
Thanks! I'm anxious to try out the "food processor", probably make fries tomorrow! And the pressure cooker should be a huge help as well.
Great finds! I have one of those processors that I found in my grandfather's closet. He hadn't used it since my grandmother had passed and he was happy to let me have it :)
No expert on pressure canners, but from older stories, I'd do a test run and be sure the pressure valve was working right. Could be wrong, but I'd rather be wrong than hear of a blowout.
Matt |
Thanks, Matt. I'll sure do that as I'm a little nervous about them anyway:)
Clamped to a Board?!? That is brilliance! I have a meat grinder I haven't used in years because it can not clamp to my kitchen table. But I do have a big cutting board.
I'm shaking my head here now at my own stupidity. Great deal you got too LOL. |
LOL thanks Sumer! I'm glad that it helped you!
I just got word that a friend is giving me a non-electric waffle cooker and a huge cast iron roaster Monday.
I love your finds........... |
You really scored! Congrats (and Happy Mother's Day to you!).
Your local cooperative extension office might be able to check if your gauge in good on the pressure cooker.
Yes, have the extension agent do the testing. Also, my mom had one of those food processors. I have NO idea whatever happened to it, she's beeen gone now for years, and I think about it quite often. We LOVED that thing! And it works perfectly for EVERYTHING! Great Mother's Day finds...CONGRATS!
It's a weighted guage. My understanding is they only check the dial gauges?
Great finds! I love flea market shopping. Someone elses trash, your treasure. You did good. I would much rather get to go to a flea market for mothers day than get flowers. I hate cut flowers as gifts. They are beautiful, but give me a living plant that I can plant in my own yard and enjoy it longer. KWIM?
I know exactly what you mean. I only ask for useful things now. I originally asked for a goat in milk but that got vetoed until we have a better set up. Maybe I'll hold out for some more Cornish X to go in the freezer lol. Our local feed store should be cutting deals on them pretty soon as they're getting quite big.
Very nice, congrats!
My mom has one of those processors. I remember using it when I was a girl and helped shred huge blocks of cheese. I told mom that when she passed I got it. :D
I am definitely going to use it for cheese. and apples, and for making french fries, and....lol
I have one of the food processors. My in-laws bought it a number of years ago and it just sat in their cupboard until one day, they were cleaning up and when they found that they thought of me 'cause I'm the one with the strange ideas about using less electricity. It was brand new when they gave it to me because they never used it!
When we are in need of something we always check the flea markets first. I've gotten a coffee maker, blender, baseball gloves, clothes, shoes, body wash and lotion...you name it they've got it. We're lucky to have them in town.
