I'm betting that some friends are shaving. DD's leg hair was always 1/2" long. That doesn't seem long at all. Puberty normally starts between the ages of 8 and 13. I'm 46 and a childhood friend started her period at age 9. So did a friend I met as an adult. My mom started her period at age 10. Breast development starts a year or two before your period starts.

I'm on a couple of forums for parents of preemies. It seems pretty typical for girls to start to need deodorant around age 8.

I think your daughter wants to start shaving at a mighty young age. At her age, she's asking for cuts. Personally, I'd just tell her that she's too young to shave. Her leg hair is normal even for a kiddo who is not going through puberty. It won't kill her to shave though. I think it's a decision you and hubby should make.

I'd make sure that your kids are familiar with the birds and the bees. If you discuss things when they're young they'll be more willing to ask questions and be more comfortable as they grow. We have discussed things from the time our daughter was very young, only giving info she wanted. We also only give info at an age appropriate level.

I think you should teach her to shave, or do it yourself. I remembering having enough to be self conscious about at that age.
Poor kiddo, she is awfully young. OTOH, my younger sons, 11 and 12, are in the midst of puberty. The 12 year old has beard hair, and the 11 yr old started wearing deodorant at age 9. Thats early for boys IMO. I have also read the many theories about early puberty, and I can assure you my children eat no processed foods, or meat from the supermarket that may have had hormones.
