She was perky about going out.. no hard feelings. Weird.

And speaking of.. boy! Is her winter coat thick! I can't reach her skin at all.
Same thing with my blue/grey cat. He has such a thick layer of blubber under his skin that it rolls up like a seal when he curls up. He has gotten HUGE!
He goes to skin (and I do mean skin..you can see his skin through a very thin coat and he looks skeletal) and bones in the summer, but gets thick in the cool weather, but I have never seen him look like this.
And it is still in the 80's in the daytime here.
I think we are going to have an amazing winter!

Oh and now that she is old and used to sleeping out she has been known to pee if she is forced to stay in without a crate and it is too late to try to bring her porch crate inside and Old Blue Sue uses the inside crate at night.
I bring her crate in when it is cold... but we may have to consider getting another crate if she decides to be a house dog again.

And we have a new little itty bitty teeny weeny kitty in the house.
I found him in a parking lot a week or so ago.
I think he was about 3 weeks old when I brought him in.
She was so good with him.
She lay very close to the floor and made sure to avert her eyes if he was looking at her.
She did her very best to be as non threatening as possible for a big fuzzy dog.
If she had her wish she would be snuggling the kitty.
She loves little baby anythings!
She licks all the chicks that she can when they hatch and loves the new baby bunnies and stayed night and day under DS's crib when he was born.
She loves to softly lick new born human baby toes...
I love my old dog.

Our momma cat's hip bones normally stick out like she's never been fed. She and the kittens are quite small and very thin. I've been noticing that they're all getting really, really fat. I'm also thinking we're gonna have a doozy of a winter. The horses are starting to get wooly too. It's been in the 80s this week. We had a few days of cold but it's been quite warm here.

I bet that's it. She has adopted the kitten and wants to take care of it.

She might be missing you. Cold weather and early dark are driving us indoors earlier. Maybe she just wants to be with you?

We got a new kitten a few weeks ago. Our old Kelpie used to love cats, but as she's aged she's not as tolerant. The new kitten decided that wasn't good enough, and started edging closer and closer, ignoring the warning growls and snarls. It took a couple of weeks, but if our dog doesn't know anyone is looking, you can find them curled up together in her bed.

well shoot, I love your old dog too after reading that. As for his recent odd behavior, it might have something to do with earth movement. I have a house full of old collector prints hanging on the walls. Some of these aren't tightly secured to the wall and over time will do that slight drift that makes them look crooked on the wall. I use these as my personal earth movement guide. The past 2 days I've had to straighten up the wall prints several times daily. It's all very unscientific but I'd say we've recently had some significant earth movement.

Bring 'em in, bring 'em out.... She has a valid reason for wanting to be inside. I have 3 elderly dogs inside; breaks my heart... all over the age of 14 years.

Seems to be a huge part of homesteading, no matter if we're talking about dogs or chickens, or baby goats. Change!! You think you have it figured out?

Sweet girl, give her a kiss from me.

Okay..now I'm in love with your old dog too!

I have an old man Beagle who is also just batty for babies of all kinds. So weird that he is like that. He does the eye avert thing but slowly gets closer and closer. Baby feet, he puts them between his paws if they stay still and rests his nose on them. Like he has to make sure they are still there. Baby kittens, he tuck them close to his chest and curls around them, occassionally checking them and giving them a lick.

I think our two old dogs might like each other.

Very, very disconcerting!! - Countryside Families

Here is her smiling face.
And some HTer's have met her... she is just pathetically non aggressive.
But good at chasing off stray dogs.
Luckily Old Blue Sue is extremely aggressive...

Mine are both very generous in this regard. In fact, they will make sure to lay against me with the offending end at my head, just to be sure that I am sharing their wealth!

Hope she is ok Chickenista.

Well we have a haunted house to be sure. An outside dog that adores animals and we also have an adopted 3 week old kitten that someone dumped. It is inside and the most adorable thing.

Our dog does not like certain places in our house, especially when the noises etc are going on. She wakes us up, but will not go ahead of us. LOL

Thank goodness we also have an aggressive protection dog, cause our old lady is getting to be a push over. LOL

Just a thought, but could it be arthritis?

We have also noticed our animals getting a very thick coat this year already.

This house is not haunted, but I have lived with ghosts (visible) before.
I don't mind..
