4th annual Christmas Card Exchange - 2010
How does the Christmas card exchange work? You email me your information to me, I make a list of everyone and mail it out to everyone after the deadline. Once you receive the list, you mail a Christmas card to each person on the list.
Why do you mail the information out - why not email it? In the past, there has been problems with people not receiving emails. This could be due to an incorrect email address, the email ending up in the "junk" box, or the email being blocked by the computer. I will save everyone's email address so if the list never arrives to you, I can then email it to you so you have enough time to get the cards sent out. Who is eligible? Anyone and everyone! Doesn't matter where you live or what country you live in. (We've had exchanges with people in Canada, France, Germany, and the UK. (It does costs more to send to these places.) What kind of card should I send? Any kind you wish to! We've seen store-bought Christmas cards, hand-made cards, post cards, etc. Cards have been religious, funny, serious, old-fashioned, modern, etc. (It's amazing how creative some people are!) Some cards have enclosures with them - ranging from pictures, recipes, bookmarks, etc. (You are NOT required to send ANYTHING. WARNING: Every year somebody out there goes crazy with glitter - which will result in glitter being found in your house long after Christmas is over!) What happens if I can't afford to send to everyone? In the past, we've ranged from 60 to 90 participants. At $.44 / stamp for regular stamps - that could be $26.40 to $39.60 in postage. We understand that some people may not have the finances to send to everyone. If you can't send a card to everyone, we ask that you send what cards you can. Please randomly pick out names - don't start at the first page and go down as far as you can afford - this results in everyone on the first page getting way more cards than the people on the last page. (Please do NOT put undue stress on yourself or your finances. A little planning, creative thinking, and careful budgeting can go a long way!) Is my information safe? Your information is kept in the strictest confidence and only shared with others on the Christmas card exchange list. No one outside of the exchange list gets the information. Most people use their home address, but some use a P.O. box. What is the deadline for signing up? I must have your information BEFORE midnight on November 20th. Sounds like fun - how do I sign up? It IS fun! And it's always exciting to get mail! If you want to be involved in this year's Christmas card exchange, email me at: htcard2010@yahoo.com (DO NOT PM me unless absolutely necessary.) Please email your information in the following format: Your real name Homesteading Today screen name (So people know who you are!) Street Address City, State Zip Your email address (This will NOT be shown on the list.) (Please double check your information and verify it's correct before emailing.) Now, who is ready for this year's Christmas card exchange?!? |

Also, as we get closer, I will be listing everyone's Homesteading name just as a verification, that I haven't missed anyone. (This is the first time I've done it and I am TRYING to be careful not to miss anyone and to avoid some problems the card exchange has had in the past - due to NO ONE'S fault, just some unknown problems that just crept up!) :fussin: So be patient with me, okay?!? :hammer: Looking forward to the exchange as I compile "the list"!!!!!!!!!!! :kung: :typomat: |
My info is sent :). I just love doing these! I am going to be on the lookout now for some awesome cards for this year :D.
Justine |
ME ME ME!!! I love this exchange! I already have my cards!
Also, a tip for those who can't afford stamps...postcards are cheaper to mail and easy to make from the fronts of last year's Christmas cards you received! |
I sent my info to you also.........I love this. Marilyn

Weekend update. I've added to the list what emails I received over the last week and have notified those people by email.
To date we have 27 people interested that have signed up. Of those 27 people, 1 person is in the process of moving and will get me their complete address once moved. 1 person just sent a PM that they were wanting to participate, but didn't send their information - so I'm just waiting for them to respond again. So right now we are at 27. So far we have no out of country homesteaders. I'm hoping to make this the best year ever, so please continue to sign up at: htcard2010@yahoo.com Thanks! |
I am interested..every year has been a thrill for me!! My apologies to anyone I don't pick off the list cuz I have to limit it due too the cost of stamps to the U.S (up to $1 now).
|
I sent my info to you. I'm so excited I love this swap.
Thanks |
I would like to join in the fun too.
Please add my name. Thank You for doing this. |
Update.
We are now up to 35 people. But of those 35, I am needing address information for 4 of them (in the process of moving). I am happy to report that as of right now, we have (1) ONE person from another country that is participating. And that person happens to be our neighbor up North - in Canada! Please continue to add your names to: htcard2010@yahoo.com |

next to Marine's Mom. |
I tried to make two columns when putting it on the forum here. Once I posted it, it squished both columns together, so then I had to go back in and modify the orginal post and just have a single column. You were the last one on the list and I forgot to take your "2nd column" name off. You will be on the final list just once!!!!!!
|
Wow the list is smaller then last years that should be better on the wallet.
|
I don't post often but read all the time. I have been on the List for the last 2 years and love it. In September we were in a horrific boat accident, while I am fine my husband was hurt critically. He is doing some better but it will be a long road. He is down about the holiday's this year with our situation but I think the Christmas List might be "what the doctor ordered" this year.
