My Mother has conversations with some of her "friends" on Fox News. She is convinced they talk to her. She thinks its modern tech. Other than this little oddity she lives by herself, takes good care of herself and keeps a clean home. I was very concerned until I went and spent a few days with her. She seems to be okay.
My thought about your Mother is you may need to tell the Dr next time she goes. He may want to run some tests to make sure she is okay.

I was going to suggest astral projection, or lucid dreaming. I think either of these could be the logical explanation. Ask her if she feels in control of where she goes.
Also, look into side effects of combinations of medications that she takes, my Mom started "dreaming in color" when she tried a new medication a few years ago.

Sounds like a state of altered conciousness to me. I have occasionally continued dreaming after waking up.

After the weird stuff my mind experienced right after a concussion, I am apt to think that there may in fact be more to this world and life beyond what our senses can perceive.

This happened to me once. I didn't know how to describe it but an out-of-body experience was exactly what it was. I had just gone to bed and the second I laid my head down on the pillow, I was suddenly back in the living room sitting in a chair. I was not asleep and could feel myself in bed but I was in the living room. It was a very strange feeling but I wasn't afraid and felt that I was in control the whole time. I'm in my late 50s and take no prescription meds.

I wonder about migraines too. I have a question, though.. Can she move when she has this dream?

Sounds like blood pressure issue. If I'm under a lot of stress and spend too much time in a hot shower I see "stars". It's blood pressure and thinning of the blood due to the heat of the shower. Doc says to calm down or sit down at least. When she changes positions from being upright to laying down the blood rushes to her head, probably causes the lights the same way I stars. Some of the meds she takes probably thin her blood if she's having vessel problems. So I wouldn't worry too much about it. Sleeping in a recliner or upright position would probably end the problem.

I have some small idea of what you and your mother are going through. My elderly grandmother is experiencing the increasing effects of dementia. The problem is that my grandmother experiences fear when she hallucinates. During the hallucination, of course, she doesn't know she is hallucinating and it is all very real to her, and her hallucinations are always frightening for her. After she becomes lucid again, she is of course aware that she was not 'in her right mind', as she puts it, which only compounds her anxiety.

The whole point I am trying to make, I guess, is what others have said... if she is not afraid and seems to enjoy what she is experiencing, perhaps that is not so bad. And maybe it is some comfort for those who are caregivers of loved ones who go through this kind of thing--- knowing that they are not tormented by what they see and feel.

God bless you and your mother.

Very true. Reentering the body is kind of a jolt.
