link never comes up. I've tried others but they won't pull up either. Maybe too many people trying at the same time ???

BlueberryChick 06/25/09 07:53 AM

Thanks! The link did take quite a while, but eventually came up.

Personally I'd be a little leery with any web site based in the Dominican Republic.

They're getting hit really hard by high traffic right now.

I got in right away early this morning, ordered without a hitch, then received this email almost immediately:

Get Ready To Roll (Or Brush)!

Congratulations! Your order for one quart of GLC37 Dove White Glidden paint (Eggshell sheen) has been processed and is on the way. You can expect to receive your paint in 3 to 4 weeks. If you have any questions about your order, call our customer service line at 1-800-GLIDDEN.

Please note: This is your only e-mail notice, we won't bug you again!
But since then, their site has gotten very slow. If they're getting hits to the database faster than the system was designed for, then there will be glitches while the system tries to catch up.

Just keep trying.

Glidden is a well known name brand. And the site's security certificate is valid.

The server that the website resides on is in Kentucky: http://whois.domaintools.com/glidden.com

FarmersDaughter 06/25/09 08:41 AM

Ladycat,

Thanks for the info. It took a while, but the site finally came up for me and I was able to order just fine.

Looks like we ordered the same color!

Hollie

Sorry for my error. I was just going by what I thought I knew about domain names.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Domain_...-level_domains

I have a Firefox add-on that shows a flag for the country of origin but since the site won't come up for me that doesn't work so I went by the .do

The .do is the page extension, not the domain. The domain is glidden.com

The page extension can be compared to this:

http://homesteadingtoday.com/index.php

The domain is homesteadingtoday.com

The page extension is index.php

Page extensions are based on the programming language that created them.

Thank you so much. First the free flour, and now this.

I figure we will use the quart as a sample for DS's room. He has been wanting to paint it blue for ages.

You are 100% correct and I see that now that you pointed it out. How could I have missed it? One of those DUH! moments that comes with age I guess.

Anyway sorry, I hope I didn't scare anyone off from ordering.

Thanks! By coincidence just the morning I was reading up on color washing, because I'd like to do the dining room wall. A quart of a different color was EXACTLY what I needed! My quart of Caribbean Sea is on the way. :)

Funny how almost everyone orders a different color!

WHoah! Leave it alone! All of that old paint (or lack of it) adds greatly to the value of your cabinet.

Have you checked out "Country Living" Magazine lately? Don't paint it!

It's been painted a lot of times over the years. You can see the various colors of the layers where the paint is chipped. One time it was apparently a bright red! LOL.

Lilandra 06/25/09 07:05 PM

THANK YOU!!
I ordered deep garnet -- it was on my list of things to do this summer and now I'll have a sample to see how it works on my cabinets.

Use a junk email account for freebies. :bash:

But when I want to give a fake email addy, I use my real one except I replace .com with .none

manygoatsnmore 06/25/09 08:33 PM

Thanks! I ordered forest green - I have some trim that I painted a couple years ago - never liked the shade of green (too bright) or the paint itself, so I'm looking forward to repainting it. I wasn't sure it went through, because it stuck on please wait, your order is being processed. I finally went back and tried again and it told me I'd already ordered and "one per household, please". So, I guess it's on the way. :)

Love those freebies, ladycat. Are they all ones you found on the Get a Daily Freebie Email site?

GoldenCityMuse 06/25/09 09:07 PM

Callieslamb 06/26/09 08:24 AM

Thanks Ladycat! I have a bedroom that I have had absolutely NO inspiration to change. It was a baby's room.....we don't have any babies around. I have been putting it off. Now, at least, I can say that I have done something about it.
