Have you considered a second opinion? What is the dosage on your metoprolol? Has it been increased at all since you've been having trouble?

No one else can walk in your shoes. That said, I'll share what I've found out for myself in dealing with similar health issues:

Eliminate stress. Easier said than done, but it can be a goal to keep in mind.

Go to a plant based diet. For some reason, meat aggravates the condition.

Find "you" time. Walking is a great way to leave it all behind. So is a locked bathroom door and a bubblebath. Put the world on hold, even for a few minutes.

Take responsibility for you. Refuse to play the victim.

First off, I want to say I'm very unhappy about my post being deleted. "Snippy," as far as I know, is not a documented reason for censorship. If it were, I'd expect to see more posts deleted than there are. I did not cuss, I did not make a personal attack, I simply asked what - after going to the doctor regularly, taking my meds, exercising and dieting - would be "taking it seriously."

You wanna delete this one too? Just go ahead and delete ME. If anything negative I say is going to get deleted and all I can say is nice happy things, then there's really no point.

So many people tell me to take it easy and rest. I have no idea how I am supposed to do that. How dearly I would love to do that. But I'm always beating myself up for being lazy as it is. When one spouse works and the other doesn't, the one at home is generally expected to at least do the cooking, shopping, and cleaning. Besides, I'm being told to rest, and I'm being told to exercise -- which is it?

BUT -- to those of you who are being kind and supportive, THANK YOU VERY MUCH. I really appreciate it.

how about eating some cayenne pepper in your food? It seriously lowers your blood pressure. I know I take it in capsule form. I'm sorry you're having such a rough time getting it down. And I understand your frustration. BTDT. Exercise is good as long as its not dangerously high.. just walking will help.

I don't want to add to the fire, but just wanted to bring something to your attention, edayna. I would say that almost every one of your threads ends with you getting bent out of shape about something that someone has said. If this is how you react in real life too, it's no wonder that your blood pressure is high.

edayna, I know a week seems like a long time when you are not feeling well, but it really is just a short period of time to start healing. Sometimes it takes months to feel better and become healthier. I hope you can relax and find ways to lower your blood pressure.

I am thankful this thread was started because Kadia has been having problems with the medication she is taking for HBP and wants to wean off of them and find more natural methods of dealing with her BP issues. Cale's Mom had HBP for years and I don't want kadia to go through all the problems she went through. I appreciate everyone who gave any helpful advice. It gives us a lot to go on. Thank you.

I followed much of this thread started by Edayna :"SICK of this High Blood Pressure Thing". With a BP of 202/140 she was going to wait for a scheduled Dr.s appointment to seek treatment. Medically trained people urged her to get it checked immediately. That is what prompted my reply here.

I will admit that the only thing in her post that echoed this outlook was the reference :"this stupid blood pressure thing".

It is always hard to face the fact that you have a life threatening disease. My Dad ignored his HBP other than taking meds for it, he made no attempt to exercise, eat right, give up the booze and chill out his type A personality. We watched him drop dead right in front of our eyes at a very young age. You better believe I take very good care of my own HBP. No denial here.

Edayna, best wishes to you. Please take very good care of yourself and the next time your BP gets that high please go to the ER.
