My daughter, Annalise Rebecca Hart

Was born on her older brother's birthday (April 8th)! Walker is 2 and Annalise is so tiny! 6 lbs 7 oz. She was born with her eyes open! Hasn't shut them much since then. Much different than my son. Very interesting to see the comparisons. Pics forthcoming:

Don't she look like me? I had an eyebrow trimming accident...long story short, the trimmer was supposed to be at level 4 but I was busy talking to Jen when I set the trimmer..turns out it was at level 2. Oy! My wife had never laughed so hard in her life. They're growing back, btw.

My son, Walker.

Walker asking to see Annalise. We're deaf so we sign. He signs and speaks in English quite well thanks to the in-laws and school.

Walker finally got to see Annalise up close.

Jen with Annalise. It was a high risk pregnancy. She developed a blood clot and had a fainting episode that is a suspected 2nd blood clot that went thru her heart so she had to inject herself in the stomach with blood thinners 2 to 3 times a day til she was born then now...one time a day for 6 weeks and has to be on baby aspirin for the rest of her life. Both Mom and baby are doing great!

You have a beautiful family!

I had to laugh though at the hospital baby blanket. That must be the only pattern used in America as all of my kids (even kadia 22+ years ago) had that exact blanket!

roadless 04/22/09 06:57 AM

What a beautiful family you have ! Love the pictures. ( Just a note for future birthdays...get them EACH a small cake...my sister and I still have resentments about having to share! :o )
Congratulations!!

Really a nice looking family! :) Hey, having been born with "her eyes open" probably means she's sharp as a tack! LOL! Watch her star rise fast! :)

My Dad and Uncle were born four days apart, and I have cousins who share the same birthday, too. Funny how it works out that way sometimes.

Congratulations!

Jennifer

Beautiful family !! Congratulations. :)

Lada 04/22/09 09:38 AM

She's beautiful, congrats! It's so sweet to see your son signing. My kids sign too. We are a hearing household, but I found that teaching them to sign really helped them communicate before they were able to talk, and avoided a lot of frustration trying to figure out what they were saying!

Thank you for sharing!

crashy 04/22/09 09:38 AM

It's funny. My son has my short stubby fingers and also my hobbit feet while Annalise has her mom's long and graceful fingers and looong toes! Annalise looks more like me while Walker looks more like my wife but has my eye color and my long eyelashes. Round face shape is from the Nordyke side of the family..I believe maybe some Dutch? Seems one side of my wife's family is orginially from West Virginia and there are some relatives still living there apparently with outhouses and some perhaps with dirt floors! What happened was that one family member owned a lumber mill with a business partner and some kind of dispute occured (think he wanted to sell the business and the other partner didn't want to buy him out or sell it) and then the family member burned down the lumber mill. Fled the state with his family and a loyal family servant. End result was that he was chased for a while by the enraged business partner who gave up. His family moved to various places and ended up mostly in Kansas with some family members settling in Colorado and Montana. My wife's mother has kept in distant contact with the West Virginia relatives. We plan to go back and visit the state some day! Her great great great whomever grandfather was a stonemason who helped build the West Virginia school for the deaf and the buildings are still up and in use today so that's interesting to us! My wife is really into family genealogy.

Congrats to your family and your little clone! Luckily the eyebrows aren't a hereditary factor:sing:

ZMTmom 04/22/09 11:24 AM

What a beautiful family you have...and yes, she looks just like you! My son was born 6 weeks early...with his eyes open and able to raise his head. He is very bright and very, very cautious and analytical. I can remember him as an infant, sitting in the baby swing, with his head turned up while he watched the gears. He was born early because I had preeclampsia, but at birth they discovered a knot in his umbilical cord...I've always wondered if he was in there trying to take it apart to see how it worked :D

Woodpecker 04/22/09 12:06 PM

What a lovely family congratulations!

sancraft 04/22/09 12:20 PM

Another beautiful baby to add to the HT crew. Congratulations.

Ravenlost 04/22/09 12:34 PM

What cute kids! Your son is adorable and that baby girl...oh my how sweet! Look at all that hair! And yes, she looks like her Daddy. I'm so glad your wife and daughter are doing well...how scary that must have been! Thank you for sharing your wonderful photos.

My daughter is not deaf, but learned sign language in high school. She is now teaching her 17 month old son how to sign.

Shushy 04/22/09 12:48 PM
