Jenn,

How about giving the elastic on the *outside* of the legs a little snip? Might loosen things enough that he'd feel comfortable, yet still tight enough on the inside of the legs to contain...hopefully!

And if you didn't say anything about the problem, to anyone, how could people help you find possible solutions? BTW, talk to his doc...could be some help for this.

Big hugs to you (((((((Jen)))))))). I've been there and know how frustrating and exhausting it is. What a nightmare that would have been to face. It's like having a toddler that is 150 lbs or more. I remember thinking - it's such a head trip knowing this person used to wipe your fanny when you had accidents, and now you're having to do it all for them. Life can sometimes be cruel.

God bless you for your love and kindness!

Jen, kudos to you for being such a loving daughter-in- law. I know it isn't an easy job to take care of an aged love one. I was very lucky that neither my parents or my in-laws ever had dementia. My best friends dad was like your FIL. She bought the pull ups and just simply replaced all his other underwear. He did notice the difference. She told him his underwear was worn out so she got him new and thats what they had. He was o.k. with that.

Everyone needs a vent. Trust me. I worked the hospitals and nursing homes. You know that it is something that cannot be helped. But it alwyas seems to happen at a bad time. You can laugh about it or cry about it. I have some really bad jokes about incontinence, but that is what got me through the day. There were a few days I came home and hubby asked how the day was. I told him I was up to my elbows in it! It does take a special person. I have already been informed by my mother in law that she will not be going into a home. I will also take care of my parents when and if the time comes. You are a good woman.
