My Mom always said " I didn't come up the pike on a bike", referring to the Mass. turnpike and meaning I didn't fool her she "wasn't born yesterday"

Compliments of my father:

We're off like a herd of turtles (it always seemed as if it took forever for the whole family to get ready for any event)

Beats a sharp stick in the eye (whenever we complained about something happening to us or whined about getting something "less" than we wanted)

And another favorite: (from Aldous Huxley)

Facts do not cease to exist because they are ignored

My Dad said, "we're off like a turd of hurtles" as well as "the whole fam dam-lee" (instead of the whole d___ family.")

If something surprises you or makes you mad.... I'll be a suck egg mule. (my grandpa always said that).

I was driving with my grandma in the truck. We went down a big bump and it really hit hard. She giggled and said, "That'll jar your fruit."

If my Mom was frustrated, she would say, For the love of Sam Hill. Nobody ever figured out who he was.
