I hear ya. I can talk about stuff here that makes me sound normal. Can't talk about those things offline to anyone.

I find it ironic that the above came up in this thread...

I'm so sad that all of this is happening on this forum. I have been on other forums, that have fallen apart, because of people that don't think they belong, and the people that have been here for awhile. I grew up on a ranch with horses and cattle and then when I married moved to a house in the city. My nieghbor in the city, was our mentor. He was like a grandfather to me and the DH. He would hang over the fence and ask "What are you doing and then LOL. I learned alot from this person, even if he lived in the city. We are living on 5 acres now, but I really miss that person hanging over the fence and asking, "What are you doing? " I guess this forum is like Elmer hanging over the fence, I need help, weather I live on a farm or in the suburbs. We have much in common, a life style.

Well I'm so glad you cleared that up for everyone. I don't like it when people assume to categorize or put down Christians, pagans, liberals, conservatives or any other label you can put on someone. Just because you have a view point that is similar to a group of people doesn't mean you ARE one of them and it doesn't mean that everyone in that group think and feel exactly the same. There are liberal Christians out there, but who cares. This is a homesteading forum. Why this junk comes up every 10th or so thread is beyond me.
why people post in a thread they care nothing about is also beyond me. The one that stands out most in my mind was the woman that decided to start covering her head. Wonderful, anything that can make you feel closer to God or get in touch with your spiritual side is great. these posters just thought they were being so superior and educated by basically trying to make her feel stupid. What did that accomplish? She didn't ask what everyone's opinion on the topic was. She just posted that she had finally taken this step and she seemed very proud of it. It made me sick how she was treated. I don't think you should EVER steal someone's joy if they aren't hurting anyone or anything and that happens too much around here. I just think about how crushed she must have been and wish I had been there with her to give her a hug and tell her to just ignore them.

Can I rate this post? I give it a 12 out of 10.

I guarantee you that this forum is not going to fall apart!!! Sometimes it is good to give people a chance to talk about things and mull things over, but we will be fine and get through this just like we always do.

Melissa is right. This thread will make us stronger and more united in the idea that a members belief in the spirit of homesteading really matters, not a members circumstances.
Saying that, I am inclined to agree with that spunky, transplanted Texas lady, WIHH about posters that seem to never reflect the HT spirit. A few would have certainly perished on the early wagon trains, crying, "woe is me" instead of fighting to live and prosper...Glen

I think it's important to remember that a society is made up of all kinds of people, from one extreme to the other in all aspects of life. There will be people here who are very stoic and never complain about anything, regardless of severe hardships in their life. There will be those who complain about everything, even when they actually have it pretty good. I don't think you can say a society is whole if you try to exclude any of those extremes. I don't think deliberate trolls fall into that category though, and those are really the only people I feel do not belong here.
Most of us are here because we share some to all of the same interests or goals. Some may not be as easy to live with as others, but then that happens in every family, doesn't it? Doesn't mean they aren't part of the family, or that they don't have something to contribute.

I and probably many others are somewhere in between. For the most part I don't complain publicly (and because of that, there are MANY things going on with me that most of you have no idea of).
But now and again I get very stressed and something that's going on just kind of explodes out of me and then I'll reveal things I normally don't.
So on those rare occasions when I start a self-pity thread, just bear with me everyone. I'll be back to normal shortly.

Well I have to say that I don't belong here...I never formally introduced myself and I just use you all for my own personal gain without contributing much but a few puppies now and then.
Don't get me wrong I do feel for alot of you and the problems and situations that arise and I can relate to more of it than I care to share.
I always say a prayer if not in type in my heart for whoever needs.
But I will continue to mostly lurk as I am more personal than most.
Thanks for all you have shared,
Ruth
