(another downside to living so long) It's laziness and principle that makes me water so seldom and try to avoid having to do so.

That said we have only black water to our septic and don't flush every pee, and our septic along with the springs in our hill slowly trickle out the hillside into neighbor's fishpond where he is very grateful for it (and we presume it is safe- no algae bloom on his ponds etc). Our greywater runs off edge property into woods and eventually joins a drainage ditch and slowly- other neighbor's stock pond etc- a local river a few miles off. When the drainage ditch went dry first time for decades this summer I felt like taking a shower was helping keep our wood alive.

Makes me ill to think the Lanier reservoir is being held back- from mussels is enough let alone other uses for man or nature for that waterflow- if it's true that Atlantans really haven't been curtailing their lawnwatering or carwashing or taking any of the measures most towns do in such a time.
UMMM, yes N. GA has been curtailing the water use. We have been told however, that South Alabama does not have any watering restrictions. That is not right. There needs to be a conservation effort on all parties involved. We all need to be better stewards of the gifts that God has provided to us.

We are on city water, but are conservative with usage!!!!

I get on my wife's nerves sometimes with the water conservation bit.

I grew up on a well, where my parents were scared to death of running out of water, even though they are on one of the largest aquifers in the state.

I guess it has just stayed with me though life...."waste not today what you might wish for tomorrow" has been my life's thread, if you will.

I also understand the ecological impact of our resources. What I waste might seriously affect people 100 miles away. I do not want to create any more impact on the enviroment than I must.

I too do not want to have visitors until the drought is over - I don't think they would understand our conservation efforts. I'd just cringe at guests keep flushing.
You seem to be doing really well at conserving!!!! I am not sure how much water we use for the 3 of us. My wife takes a bath in the morning as she has back problems and likes to lay in the tub to get her back limber for the day.

By the time I get in for the shower, the water in the hot water line has cooled down, but I turn it on anyway and get wet with the cooled off "hot" water. (That gets you awake real quick!) By the time I'm rinsing off, it's hot again and at that point son takes his shower.

On average I would say our toilet gets flushed 3 times a day. It's an older model, so not the water conserving kind. (I should probably put a gallon jug of water in the tank just to take up some room.)

I would hate to have family over for the holidays! That would mean about 7 adults and 2 children in addition to us. And in the past, I've noticed my sisters go to the bathroom about every hour and of course with them living in town and on the town water supply, water isn't a thing to conserve to them! I might not notice it so much now since we have a submersible pump, but when we had the jet pump in the basement, every time it ran, I could hear it.

Candian Girl - Some people are truly clueless!!

Weathman is saying tonight we are to get rain showers turning into snow flurries. Let's hope it RAINS the whole entire night!
