The gallon of coffee you are drinking is dehydrating rather than hydrating your body. Not to say what the caffine is doing.

Please examine your addiction to both for your health.
You're right, I knew that about the coffee - I only mentioned it as another reason why I drink so much water.

Before we put this thread to sleep.

I wanted to share something with those who take diuretics.

Both Roger and I do and we were discussing water drinking this morning.

I found that the first three days of drinking 48+ ounces of water, I broke speed records getting to the bathroom. Then, it leveled off completely. There was no . I think that the body adjusts to the water and eliminates it better.

I see that i"m not retaining water as much either.

I go up to 11x a day without a diueretic lol...I'm healthy as a fit horse so no clue why. Dad says we have excellent filtering kidneys

I drink probably half the recommended water too..it's weird.

The Institute of medicine has said that coffee will fulfill your water needs. The diuretic will make you urinate sooner, but overall you will recieve the same benefits as drinking water.

I got hooked on ice water when I was pregnant, and still drink it constantly. I'll put a 1/2 bottle in the freezer, then fill it up all day as I go... keeps it cold & yummy. I've also got the kids drinking a lot of water, best thing for them in this summer heat!
