I'm doing house and dog sitting and update on job

The house and dog sitting is a windflall job. I'm grateful for the opportunity and getting paid for it. I'm house sitting and dog sitting for the good neighbor Mr. Y. I'll be here this evening through Monday morning or afternoon. The job involves caring for and feeding three dogs, several cats, house sitting and answering the phone if it rings. The neighbor didn't want to put the dogs in a kennel and have someone come in and feed the cats and check on the house.

The dogs are Gigi, the Border collie mix that likes to be hugged and petted, Moe, a black lab mix, that just wants his belly rubbed and Molly, the yellow lab husky mix with one blue eye that just wants attention and being petted period. They're really good dogs with great personalities. Oh... almost forgot, they love hot buttered popcorn and Mr. Y showed me how he makes it for them. He gives it to them as an evening treat.

This was a good time for this to happen because I'll be starting the cashiers job at the grocery store Tuesday morning. I had the drug test today and the results won't be back until Monday morning so I couldn't start until Tuesday. When I went to the store for the drug test I talked to one of the cashiers and asked if she would call the store manager for me. I told her I was there for the drug test and she said "It's about time!" and then told me I'd already been hired.

Good things are happening.

Thanks to all of you. Have you every seen three dogs gathered around and chowing down on a great big bowl of buttered popcorn? It's a sight to behold. They're sharing and not getting squabbly or the bit least noisy. They're too busy chowing down!

Great news!

My 3 dogs love to eat popcorn in the evenings too. They don't get it every night, but is quite often an evening treat for them. :)

Glad everything is falling into place for you. :)

Great to hear things are working out for you!

I'll have to try that hot buttered popcorn idea for the dogs...but me first, I think!

Fla Gal 03/16/07 05:12 AM

I have to admit, I put aside some of that buttered popcorn for myself before giving the rest to the dogs. I couldn't resist. Maybe tonight I'll watch a movie and have my own bowl of popcorn.

I'd forgotten how fun it was to wake up to a great big wet doggie kiss at 5:00am. Molly (the kisser) didn't even want to go outside, she just wanted to say good morning. :p

Tango 03/16/07 05:45 AM

I've got a couple of popcorn lovers at the house, myself included. Best thing is that it is a whole grain :) healthy :) congratulations on the jobs.

Fla Gal 03/16/07 05:51 AM

Hi Tango! Bet you didn't think we'd be this close of neighbors again.

It's been a long time since I've had popcorn and enjoyed it almost as much as the dogs did.

moopups 03/16/07 06:24 AM

The question is: Did you get down on all fours and do it right? Thats the universal way to enjoy popcorn......

Alice In TX/MO 03/16/07 07:18 AM

Popcorn dog farts. AAAAAAARRRRRRRGGGGGGGGHHHH!! :baby04:

Fla Gal 03/16/07 07:22 AM

Mr. Y didn't warn me about that! So far it hasn't happened unless it was after I let them out this morning. This does not sound good. :baby04:

Well sounds like your having a good time there.

Fla Gal 03/16/07 09:34 AM

Thanks everyone for the thoughts and kind words. I'm having a real good time. Can't work outside because it's raining so I'm doing a few inside chores and getting a lot of time in on the computer while I can.

Life is good. :)

Fla Gal 03/16/07 11:02 AM

Thanks Petunia. I didn't know dogs liked popcorn until I got this sitting job. Learn something new everyday.

Marcia, I didn't realize we were 8 hours from each other. I too wish we were closer. I'd love to have you for a next door neighbor.

Congrats Fla Gal!!!!!!

Peace and blessings,

Fla Gal 03/16/07 12:44 PM

Thanks Kelli, I haven't been this happy in a long time. I love being in the country. It'll be even better when Sancraft and I get to put in a garden and get some goats and more chickens. This will be the most fun summer I've had in a long while.

tinetine'sgoat 03/16/07 12:47 PM

Very glad all is going well!!

sancraft 03/16/07 02:16 PM

My goats used to love popcorn. I didn't butter it for them though.
