my buddy on another forum types thoughts out like you with using a series of periods between thoughts or 'new paragraps', kinda like this...........Then he continues with what's on his mind.......It's better to read what's no one's mind even if they are 'quasi modo's (sp?) of the grammar world.......what the heck, it's a homesteading website.......It's not a grammar police control site to be expecting lingquistic correction at every turn.
If you don't understand what I just typed.....who cares?

I like Mitch. He is one of my favorite cyberpeople. He always causes me to stop and think after reading his posts.

I try to keep track of my spelling and grammar alot more because I know he might be reading my posted thoughts. Thank you, Mitch, for helping me to be more aware.

I also try to remember that he has been on this earth alot longer than I have, so he may know a thing or two that I don't.

I am thankful for his presence and for the care and guidance I have been receiving from the members of this family.

Thank you.

Edited to add: "Is that the way you like it, Mr. Beeblebrox?"

KYG, I find the 'dancing emoticons" very annoying, just go to 'Tools', 'Internet Options', 'Advanced' tab, scroll down to 'Multi Media', unclick the green marker, left click if you have a right hand mouse, left handers just do the same in your version of reality.

The visual will remain, the motion will stop. What a blessing, its called animation on the screen, may be said another way there, but I am sure you understand this group of words.

You mean like this one... . I finally figured out who you are moopups, your real name is Larry Rawlings, you were my highschool English teacher who I knew moved to Florida. Your favorite word is Jugernaut and you make a point to use it at least once a week. Also taught me the infininately important phrase of "we never assume because it make an As*-out of U and ME. I have used that often in my adult life, thanks! Also do you still wear those horridly tight gym short things with your high socks? Because those were awesome if you still do.

Just as bad as all capitals is someone that capitalizes the first letter of each word. Why do they do that??

You can't explain paragraphs to someone that does not even know how to use spell check. I see people write a word that they don't think they spelled right and put (SP?) after the word.......wouldn't it be so simple to spell check the whole post? Don't get me started......

Mitch is not correcting anyone's grammar. He's simply offering advice for proper posting procedure. It's true, really -- if you want to be read, and get responses, it's better to make your posts pleasant to read.

Breaking up your posts into paragraphs makes them easier to read and understand, easier to skim for those with limited time and short attention spans.

I am a writer...I get paid to know how to do this. I would still hate for my posts to get graded or corrected for style. A reasonable amount of skill comes naturally for me but hey, this stuff is naturally written from the heart. I would hate for anyone to become discouraged from posting on a board because he or she fears criticism of writing abilities. I've read many posts from people that are rife with spelling and grammatical errors but still succeed in communicating useful info and heartfelt emotion. That's much better, IMO, than a sterile, perfectly proper bit of fluff.

In the writing field, we call what Mitch refers to as "white space." It really does make a difference. That's all he wants -- a place to rest his eyes before going on to the next thought. Every reader needs this. With Mitch's particular quirks, his Aspie stuff, he's just more sensitive to it than some, I guess. It's the equivalent of being distracted by background noise.

Mitch you little rascal. Do you get up at the same time every day to stir the cauldron?? It will be OK if you need a nap now. What the heck, it's time for the chickens to get up now. You might as well do the chores before the nap.

Chores? Is that something specific to Indiana?

While I try hard to not misspell a word or whatever, I fail sometimes and I don't get upset if someone else fails too. If I can't understand what someone is trying to convey, I skip the post. Usually, after one try, I can.

I skip posts that are all in caps or have not sentence beginnings or endings. I don't read those with all words starting with a cap either because it gives me eye strain.

As for paragraphs, I don't always do that correctly either, but then it isn't all THAT important.

(Am baking chocolate cookies tomorrow, in case the grumpies show up here!)

I agree with edayna, who expressed Mitch's sentiment in a kinder way.

It really is difficult to read line after unbroken line on a screen. I don't mind if the post is randomly broken into paragraphs; I just need that break. It keeps me from accidentally skipping lines and helps me easily find sections I want to re-read or quote.

I want cake tooooooo.

Well, my dh might object . You sure you have never randomly yelled Jugernaut at a room full of kids? A 7 generation Floridian almost puts you with pure gator blood runnin' through you doesn't it?

Lol, I like Mitch's (may I call you that?) style of writing.

I, too often forget, that the "enter" key takes me to another line.

And, I too, don't like a post all in CAPS.

Old?? Old?? I'm so old-well, you get the idea.

Yes, it's definately an Aspie thing. Too much unbroken text is overwhelming.

Some people write posts as if they are talking... for those who write non-stop without any breaks, it reminds me of when a talker has trapped you and won't let you get a word in edgewise. Writing a solid block of print comes across as not being conscientious of the people you're trying to reach - not rude per se, just unaware how difficult it is to follow a million words thrown into a solid block of print. I would like to follow along and get through these posts, but just as often as not, I lose my place and the post loses my interest.

Reading a big huge unbroken box of print makes me feel like I'm trying to focus on and follow every single little nodule in a brick.
