10:31 am--THE LIGHTS & HEAT ARE ON!!!!!!!

It's good to be home!

Just got to see more pictures of the Shore.
“The Jersey Shore of my youth is gone” -- Gov. Chris Christie
That it is Gov. That it is.

I just about cried when I saw the Seaside Heights roller coaster sitting out in the Atlantic Ocean. Many a summer of my youth was spent frolicking at the shore. Poseidon's Cracken was not kind to us.

Glad to hear you're safe.

foxfiredidit 11/03/12 10:54 AM

As one who experienced both the storms and the destruction they cause, I can tell you at first it seems like things have changed forever, and to some extent they have, but then it changes again, and that feeling of home and your place in it somehow renews itself. Glad to see y'all are up and running again. It is good.

Tommyice 11/03/12 11:03 AM

Thanks Jim. Not too bad here. Didn't lose any trees or family & friends. Just lost our electricity. Finally found it this morning. I'm in Northern NJ--just across the river from NYC. Just starting to scroll through the pictures and I'm speechless.

This is the NJ Turnpike (near Newark Liberty Airport) about 1/2 hour from me. The rail yard where those freight cars came from is about 30 - 40 feet BELOW the turnpike.

We've got gas rationing here in NJ now. This is our local paper's website.

Thanks Fox. I know what you mean about the changes. Truth be told, I haven't been to the Shore since the Snookie crew took over. LOL

Snookie--the only other female name (other than Sandy) that strikes fear into the residents of the shore!

Great to hear you got power, but turn the lights off,,,it's daytime.

newfieannie 11/03/12 11:04 AM

so happy to hear that Leslie. i have been thinking of you. as Fox says . things will eventually renew themselves. all the best, ~Georgia.

davel745 11/03/12 11:09 AM

Get some very warm clothes as it is going to get cold. If the comming storm has a winter mix and freezes the power may go out again. Take care of yourself

Tommyice 11/03/12 11:15 AM

I saw that on the news about the next storm. Typical N'oreaster--cold and wet. Although with snow, at least the house will hold it's warmth. Did lose 10 shingles off my roof. Spoke to the roofer already. Hopefully Monday he'll either be slapping some new ones on the roof or putting a tarp in place.

LA the broccoli survived Sandy!

Now we get to restock everything we've used up during this past one!

Terri in WV 11/03/12 11:26 AM

I'm glad to see you back and that you're safe. Now if City would just check in...

Tommyice 11/03/12 11:30 AM

He's in an area that got hit bad. He's safe though. He's gonna have a long road ahead fixing his place up after the flood. Like 9-ish feet of water flood.

CountryWannabe 11/03/12 12:56 PM

Glad you got your lights and heat back, Leslie, and that you came through relatively unscathed. I am also happy to hear that CB is safe. Thanks for letting us know.

Mary

Man I hate that for him. I hope we hear from him soon. I hate he left the forum mad/hurt he may not come back and check in with us. I hope he comes back to read soon and see how worried we were for him and knows we really do care.

gaucli 11/03/12 04:04 PM

my brother is a truck driver that is on his way to New Jersey with a load of bottled water. I guess they messaged the whole crew to bring different things that everyone might need. I told him to make sure he fueled up before he got there, cause I saw the lines at the pumps:eek:. Glad you are starting to get things back to normal and glad you are ok.

Terri 11/03/12 04:18 PM

Welcome back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lord, Thank you for answering our Prayers,,,,,but......

You know, I didn't include that....

doodlemom 11/03/12 04:26 PM

My daughter and I missed you!

Tommyice 11/03/12 04:36 PM

Gaucli your brother will be welcomed! I don't think he'll have any problems getting diesel. And we are on gas rationing. Commercial vehicles are exempt from the odd/even thing I believe. Walking up with a gas can is also exempt. It won't be too bad for Dad and I--his truck is even, mine is odd (let the jokes fly now)

Terri it's good to be back under the Singletree. I missed my daily dose very much.

LA--Thanks for the prayers. And the broccoli thanks you too. I have very magnanimous plantshttp://www.homesteadingtoday.com/ima...ilies/nana.gif

DOODLEMOM!!!!!! How did you fare? I've missed everyone so much! I was out of work since Monday afternoon. My scheduler told me to get ready for about 20 hours of overtime every week for quite a while.

nehimama 11/03/12 04:56 PM

So glad you're okay, and back among us, Leslie!

Groene Pionier 11/04/12 07:24 PM
