Question Cost of concrete?

Anyone know how much a cubic yard of 2500-3000 psi concrete goes for?

Thanks,

BooBoo

I'm a builder and noone can answer that unless they live in your town. we can get it for 55.00 /yrd in our county and 50 miles away the guys are paying 70.00.
limestone is 14 a ton by us and they have a quarry and get it for 9.50.
all depends on where you live. we are in northern ohio.

The cost of concrete is not just the cost of the stuff itself. As stated it is very much a local thing and can vary all over the place.

There can be other things like truck charges which can really add up. Most companies do not give you forever to get the stuff out of the truck. Something like 30 minutes and then they charge a fee over that time based on the extra time required.

Some places they may charge extra over a certain distance.

The tricky one is always the small loads of a few yards. They may charge a minimum. A lot might depend on if you are a regular buyer or just the weekend jockey who only does a small project. The concrete company probably does not charge or treat all customers equal.

Is best to go directly to the concrete place and talk to them about a particular project if you don't do it very often. Find out what restriction and cost structure are involved depending on what you are trying to do.

In some areas, you can find "Dry Mix" trucks which are very nice for smaller jobs. They carry all the materials dry in bins and can mix you exactly the amount and type concrete required by using a sort of fancy mixing chamber attached to the back that also acts as the discharge chute. Tends to be very good on the cost of concrete per yard. Is geared toward smaller jobs.

I had a concrete pad poured last year for a carport. They did the complete job of digging, forming, pouring, & finishing. Not sure of the p.s.i., but it is fiberglass reinforced.Approx. 20'x26' NICE job. $1400.Here in Fl. That was about the best price anyone would give, & for someone highly recommended.

I was seeing 50-100 dollars a cubic yard on the net,but couldnt tell either where they were,or how up to date.

I could do what I want,a cement house,1600 sq foot,18 inch by 36" footers,8 inch floor for about 110cubic yards if my numbers and ASSUMPTIONS are somewhere in the ball park. 75 a cubic yard would be workable.

Just some ideas for the future once we find land. The ballpark figures are what I needed, thank you gentlemen, its appreciated!

Last time I bought poured concrete was 4 years ago on a slab for a small building. Cost delievered from the source 20 miles away was $110 cdn. dollars (about $80 U.S. equivalent). I'm sure it's more this year due to fuel increases.

The company I work for buys concrete form various vendors in Utah, Idaho, Nevada and Oregon. We pay anywhere from $65 to $95/ yard. I recently received notices from five suppliers that prices were being increased on July 1, due to shortages in Portland cement. The increases are from $3 to $5 per yard. In the past if we ordered 5 yards or more at a time, we did not have to pay delivery. Our vendors have changed that (July 1) so a delivery is charged for all loads, as well as a fuel surcharge.

Some of the vendors also indicate that shortages are going to impact their ability to meet all of their orders in the near future. One letter stated they were being placed on quotas.

Last time I check was last fall in southeastern Washington and price was $75.00. I heard last week that if you are not a contractor you can't buy concrete due to a shortage. Most of it is going to China. And a Home Depot you can only buy 10 bags of the premixed stuff. I was going to pour about a yard so I can put doors on my barn and I guess I'm going to have to buy a few bags of Portland cement at a time till I have enough.
