there is 27 cubic feet in a yard of concrete, or a cubic yard of any material, (3 feet x 3 feet, x 3 feet = 27)
to figure, take length X width in FEET, that will give you the square foot age of the area, now take the thickness IN FEET, (if it is 6" then use .5 , if 4" use .33 8" use .66 ) convert to a decimal measurement in FEET,
take the length, X the width, X the thickness, (IN FEET), to get the total cubic feet of the slab or pour, now divide by 27 (the cubic feet in a cubic yard, 3x3x3=27) when you divide by 27, you will now have cubic yards,
EXAMPLE, slab 20 x 32, 6 inches deep
20x32=640 cubic feet, X .5 (6 inches in decimal Feet), 320 cubic feet, divide by 27= 11.85 yards, I would order 12, yards,
if your doing footers, say 18" wide by 8" deep and you have 120 running feet of them,
1.5 x .66 x 120 = 118.8 divide by 27= 4.4 order 4 and half yards,
