Buying a truck, again

Posted earlier buying a used dodge pick up from a ford dealer, and have been offered the extended warranty plan, the dealership says the dodge is covered by the ford plan, but nowhere in writing do I see this. Never had an extended warranty and it is a good plan for the money, but has anyone done this? Thanks. This is in NY state.

I have never bought an extended warranty on anything and never regretted it. If something ever breaks I will pay for repairs out of pocket and still be way ahead than if I had bought all those extended warranties.

They sell extended warranties because they make money on them. If they are making money, then you are losing money.

I doubt it is actually a Ford extended warranty plan. Usually these plans are sold by third parties and are not brand specific. The dealership gets a cut by selling them but then you will always deal with the warranty folks as to who pays what.

The extended warranty is only $20. monthly and considering my repair bills on 2 older vehicles are substantially more than that yearly cost, but I've never had one either nor have I believed in them. Thanks.

I have worked in the auto business for nearly 25 years,,you'll be surprised what those warrantys don't cover,,LOTS of fine print and a lot of repair places won't accept them .

I think extended warranties are a rip off. Because as stated above there is a lot not covered. Then they are insurance policies. The company can claim the damage is your fault & not cover it. The list of problems go on with these warranties. Many places won't honor them on & on.
