Older truck sat too long

Hi all. A question please for mechanics. My Dad's truck has been sitting for a couple of years now. '86 Chevy C30, was cared for. The slave cylinder leaks, and it hasn't been run. I wanted to get it on the road again but today, as I was making arrangements to have it go to the garage I discovered that the gear shift seems frozen up. I expected little things to have developed, but now I'm wondering if it's too late. Your thought, please? Thank you.

If it's sank in the ground it just might be bound up. Might free up once it's moved a bit. I'm going to assume it has a SM456. "4 speed with granny gear" It's not to late. Those things are tuff as nails. It would be worth it to have someone pull the top of the tranny off to look at the gears and shift forks.

Many times the clutch will freeze to the flywheel and the trans won't shift easy or at all. Once it is moved some with the clutch depressed it will many times release.
It happens with tractors drug out of fence lines all the time.
