Flywheel Surface

Picked up an engine that had the flywheel faced but the engine was not used for sometime. The face of the flywheel now has a light rust on it, thoughts on cleaning it up, orbital sander with grit, wire wheel brush on an angle grinder???

The clutch disk will polish it, if you insist on doing something I would use on of the scotch brite disks. http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-3M-Scotc...item19fb072e47

Check and see it is flat first. If not have it surfaced.

It was surfaced, but has developed light rust as it has not been used.

Just knock the rust off with scotch bright pads or even sandpaper and go with it. If it had heat crakes or grooves wore in it that would be another story. You might want to run a tap threw the bolt holes for the pressure plate so you can get the correct torque on it.

I would hit it with some barkeepers friend and steel wool. Its the best stuff going for quick and easy rust removal and make it shine like a new penny.
