Hydraulic question.

I have a 3 pt trencher that has its own control valve. The operating lever is really inconvenient to reach from the tractor seat. I'd like to bypass the valve and run the hoses from the double acting cylinder directly to the tractor remotes.

There's something else in line before the remotes. It looks like a small block of metal that both the hoses from the cylinder and the hoses to the remotes connect to. I've tried to aek a picture but it's in a bad location to access. There is a metal tag I can't read or photograph well to help read it.

Anyone have any idea what its purpose is? Can I bypass it?

My best guess is that the "block" is a spring controlled pressure release valve. IMO the "block" will relieve the pressure to the hydraulics going to the trencher should the control valve/hydraulic hoses become blocked in event the trencher locks up when in use.

that would be my guess as well,

or could be flow control, (speed),

the other possibility is a lock which is similar to the top a relief valve, but in this case it take so much pressure to move the cylinder
