Ford 4000 Tractors
I had a gas Ford 4000 tractor. Went out to get a bale of hay for the cows. Stopped, open gate, drove through, stopped and when I started to drive again sickening sound from engine. Knew right there I had a broken piston shaft. Checked oil - white. And a busted block.
It is beyond economic repair, particularly due to labor cost.
However, at an equipment auction today I purchased a diesel Ford 4000 with a front end bucket. I am pretty sure, except for engine, parts are interchangeable. Thus, will have repair shop swap out the better parts on the gas for those on the diesel. For example the back tires on the diesel are about worn smooth. I have good thread on the gas. Gas has nicer rear tire fenders and a better 3-point-hitch system.
Undecided of what to do with gas one. Still runs. Thinking of bringing it home and storing it in a barn for possible future parts.
One aspect I don't like about the front end bucket is you have to reach under seat to get to levers.
However, I have an old Ford backhoe.
