new service wire to older bins.

I have two small grain bins that have three phase wire coming into them. They currently are being fed with 3/0. Two of the three wires are dead. The problem is under ground. I need to run new wire and after getting sticker shock by the price I was talking to the counter man at the electrical supply store and after asking some questions he suggested I use what he referred to as "sweet brier" (4/4/2) this comes as a set for $2.49 a foot as opposed to the 3/0 that runs $3.80 a foot for each of the three runs.

My son in law does industrial electrical maintenance and he looked at what is hooked up to the electric panel and felt it would work fine. I no very little about three phase so I just thought I would see if any one here had any concerns.

Thank you for reading this.

Jim
