Off Road diesel additive?

I have a good old IH 674 diesel. I been putting off-road diesel in it, but that stuff is hard to find at the pumps, and I use less than 200 gallons a year. Is there an additive I can add to regular truck diesel to work in my tractor?

On a related note, is there any Stabil-like additive to add to diesel in cans to ensure quality over time?

Thanks.

The only difference between off/on rd diesel is dye so they know you're paying tax on on road....I use grey bottle Power Service(as does Walmart-industry leader in mpg)-it's good stuff....Lucas F/I cleaner is also good stuff.

Thanks, Zant. I was told I needed to run off road because it had a higher suplhpur content

Were those other products you mentioned for performance or storage? Both?

For performance,cleanliness/mpg.....I believe most of the fuel being refined today is low-sulphur....the PS additive raises cetane level....I run the low-sulphur in a 99 Detroit with no problems and if I keep my foot out of the pedal,I get 7.2-7.5mpg....PRI is the best additive for longevity, other posters may have something else that works equally well

For an older diesel engine that's been running offroad with higher lubricity than regular diesel look at the products in this test.

I'm using a Penzoil version (forget the name) even with dyed diesel. As here, it is exactly the same as road diesel (low sulfer) with red dye in it When they remember to add it.

I use the white bottle from wally world service something year round. It removes moisture which is imperative with some stations adding water to the fuel because they are allowed so much moisture per thousand gallons.
We have one station that has been testing his and adding water for years, He has had to pay for a few engines when sued, but he says it way worth it to add the water, most locals will not purchase gas or diesel from his stations or where he provides fuel, and as a rule never purchase fuel while a tanker is dumping or off loading fuel to a tank.

Don't add any ATF, the old stuff was alright, but the new has too many additives that are hard on injector pumps. I mix Marvel Mystery oil and Power Service in the white bottle year round in my Cummins. The pump on my Cummins is lubed by the fuel and sulfur is a lubricant. Since they dropped the level of sulfur I've been running this mix, it gets me 2 to 3 mpg better on the high.

Thanks for the help, guys.
I ordered some FPPF additive, so now I can use regular diesel. Based on what I've learned, I'll add it to regular or off-road.

The FPPF is one of the better additives for protecting your injection pump from wear but one of the Opt-lube products appears to be twice as good at protecting against wear based on the test.
